Clynn of Whirlaway quoted us over $100 less than competitor for a next-day tank emptying. Also,…read morerather than requiring us to uncover the lid before he'd come, he came (though several hours late) and quickly found and dug it up himself at minimal charge. Clynn didn't add on a complex inspection. He said he's learned over 30+ years that if a leach field has problems, there will be scum rings in the access, so he watched for those, and also checked for holes in the tank by looking over the floor for dirt having fallen in. Clynn advised that a plumber could easily fix the one hole in our tank with patching cement, or we could do it ourselves (and gave instructions). He offered valuable plumbing counsel about changes we were making to our drain and septic lines. A competitor recommended we put in an entire new tank and leach field in our situation. (They offer tanks and leach field installations through a partner.) It would have cost $6,000-$10,000, and required extensive yard renovation. When we asked the county health department that oversees septic systems about our needs, they said our situation should actually not require major work. We added a significant tip onto Clynn's fee, and wanted to also pass along a hearty recommendation!

Never explain material choices, nor show any materials in person to choose from. Told her she'd like what he was going to put on her RV pad which is like a (clean out from a cement truck. Sent her two pictures of rocks to choose from. He didn't know how to order the required material for the job so he piled all the rocks up like hills NOT flush with the side wall. My mom told him while he was there doing the job they need to be flushed and sent him two texts no response. He NEVER gave her a paper bid NOR invoice. He acted as though he was working under someone else construction company and NEVER told my mom he is doing her job independently under his business. He just got his business license 01/26/2023. I reached out to the company that my mom (Thought) she hired for the job. That owner was upset to why he's name is being involved as he's not the one that did the job and is willing to help anyway he can. I reached out to Steve as I'm really upset that someone would deceive and take advantage of someone as he did and to meet at my mom's in person to address what needs to happen with the RV pad as it's terrible and she thought she was getting roadbase not Ladle-cement clean out it's terrible! Steve just wants to communicate through text not willing to meet in person to make things right. That should tell right there what kind of person he is. Me and my husband moved all the excess rocks which there was enough there to cover two more large spaced, again because Steve didn't know how to measure out how much material he needed and order too much and didn't want to be bothered with the excess rocks he piled them up and left from the 70 year old customer to deal with. Which he really should've taken/hauled off all the excess instead of leave for the customer to deal with. I stated that to him and he's response was ( most people like it mounded) I have NEVER seen any rock curbing mounded- hilled residential nor commercial! I should be sending him a bill for cleaning/completing his job. Didn't remove ANY material such as (grass/ dirt etc) from the curbing nor parking strip-RV pad- just put the cloth down which also was high in many places that we had to cut and the parking strip-RV pad no material removed to make flush with driveway to add material. Not level! It's like you hire someone to replace your cement driveway and they don't tear it out and just pour new concrete over the old concrete. I asked about a bid & invoice he said that my mom said she doesn't email! I told him then he needed to accommodate the customer and asked for both of them to be emailed to me. I've requested 3/4 times now still have yet to receive them. More than sure there is neither. But that wasn't a conversation that was ever even had with my mom. He never even mentioned an email to my mom. He send her a bid through text not detailed bid either just $2100 & $3000. He's already been paid my mom had to leave before the job was completed didn't know who to write the check to so wrote the check, it was paid in full and she got home to the hill of rock and the RV pad looks TERRIBLE. I would be embarrassed to say I did that job let alone treat someone that way. We've tried to get Steve to make it right but he's thinking he did such a great job! It's the worst job I've ever since. You can clearly tell he doesn't know what he's doing. And he seems to not want to make it right. He should be very ashamed of himself. I HIGHLY DON'T RECOMMEND! If there was not a star available to leave I wouldn't leave any stars!

Additionally, our well guy asked for some excavation and Steven obliged. The other contractor was happy with his work. We highly recommend Saunders Excavation. He was attentive and answered our calls and text even rearranging his schedule. Steven was always professional and went above and beyond. I often wonder if reviews are written by jilted customers who were less than kind. I'd definitely hire Steven again for our future home improvement projects.
