This course is always watered and cut very well. One of my favorite courses in Macomb County and you can't beat the price.

The tee boxes at this course are horrible. They invested in new carts and a starter shack but the tee boxes are mostly dirt, they would be better off with mats. read more

Kind of quick pace of play. Quite a few tee boxes kind of rough conditions. Rest of course in decent shape and a few workers seem to be seeding a few areas. 1-2 holes must have sprinkler issues -VERY wet, after no rain in metro Detroit for a bit. read more

Golfed here 7/29/23. It was unbelievable how many tee times they had tried to cram in. There was around 8 carts and 4 walkers still in front of us at our 3:00 tee time. We teed off at 3:40 and got done at pitch black 9:20. Course also would not allow any refund after a 3.5 hour front 9, even though it was all their fault. A standard tee time is around 8-10 minutes apart from each-other. The people behind us had a tee time booked for 5 minutes after us. They are stuffing this as full as possible to get your money then not care about you. As of 2023, avoid this place at all costs. Sad. Garbage course. Trash staff. Costs ten bucks to get in the park first of all, then upon pulling up to first tee with my wife the starter says we can't play sharing one set of clubs. Says that's the rule basically everywhere... even though we okay every single week at clubs 10x nicer like Orchards, Greystone, Twin Lakes and always have shared clubs. They were old, rude, and pathetic. Couldn't get our ten bucks back afterward for entering the park either. Losers. read more

Went to golf with my dad on June 19th. Went in looking forward too it and was immediately disappointed as soon as we got in the cart. Our cart probably topped at 5mph the whole round. Dragging along at a snails pace. And on top of that it was the longest round we've ever played. First 3 holes took an hour and 20 minutes with 2 foursomes backed up by the 2nd tee box. We called the office and tried to have them send someone out, which they did, but they didn't do anything about it. And you have to pay $10 to get in the park even if you're golfing. Updated 9/16/20 Unfortunately we experienced the over booking. 5:10 to play this track, which is not difficult. Ranger WERE NON-EXISTENT. Group 3 groups in front of us were waaaayyyy behind. When told at the turn, the starter asked what our tee time was. 2:50 on the front 9. He didn't say anything. Greens were super slow as well, not in good condition. Too bad, layout is a lot of fun. Have never experienced such rudeness. We had a teatime at 9:36 on a Sunday morning when we arrived the "assistant manager" behind the desk started us at Hole 1 putting us behind a girl team of 12 walking!!!. We then asked him if we could start off at Hole 9 he rudely said no. So we waited by 9:45am there were three girls that still needed to tee off. So we drove up and asked the girls if we could play through they said "sure of course they understood" .. as we were driving to the next hole, he left his post to come out to us, claiming he will not allow us to do this. He runs this course and we can't do it!! Told us if we didn't want to wait, he would give us a refund when push came to shove and we ask for the refund he now declined. The assistant manager is so unprofessional and rude. I wish anyone luck when they have to deal with him. read more

Father's Day 2017 not only was the weather cooperative spent quality time with my daughter who by the way never played golf. We where teamed up with to other guys. They were gracious enough to play with us seeing how I haven't played golf at this course since it opened. The staffing where helpful. We rented a pull cart as to take time to show my daughter the fine points of the game. We didn't keep score just having a good Father's. Day. I think we'll be going back again. Great course for first timers and pro's. As always Stoney creek is one of the best metro parks around. read more

Nice, moderately difficult course, that is well maintained... But 50$ to ride 9 holes is a little steep in my opinion.

If you're a minority (black, latino, asian, etc.) and looking for a fun laid back place to golf, this place is NOT where you want to be. The employees (especially the older ones) makes you feel as if you are unwanted; no smiles, no hello, no explanations on standard procedures or anything. After paying $8 per basket of golf balls for the range, we were told we cannot use the golf carts to go to the range, so we had to carry all of our heavy equipment with us. The employees checked up on us constantly, as if they were suspicious of us committing a crime. To our surprised, an older Caucasian couple came to the same range on a golf cart while we were still shooting the range. After finishing, we walked back to our cars, as another employee came racing towards our way to check up on us. Again, no smile, no hello, and only the dirty look. We will never go back to this place. Take your money elsewhere...somewhere where they will see your money as the same color as others. read more

By far the slowest round of golf this year! Clubhouse was called twice and we were ignored. 18 holes took almost 5 and a half hours. Brutal. Rangers could care less about keeping groups on time. Stay away!!! read more

One of the nicest things about living in a capitalistic society is we get to vote with our $$$$'s. I choose to avoid this place, for the most part, mostly because I have to step foot in the clubhouse to speak with the staff to pay. One sour customer service experience is tolerable, two, well, I guess we can understand everyone has a bad day once in a while.....let's just say if you visit this place 10 times you have about a 70% chance your golf mojo will be ruined for the day. The golf is nice. I like the fairways and I like the greens. I even like the views. The problem is if I give my money to support this operation then rude people will continue to be rude. read more

This course is so missed managed. They do not have any sense of customer relations. The experience starts at the club house with the people who check you in. Never in all of my years playing there have the counter people been friendly. It is so bad my wife now pays because i will not deal with them. On the turn I wanted to get a turkey wrap. None where made so I settled for a sandwich. They then tried to put golfers in front of us as we made the turn. Oh this storyline could go on forever but I think you get the idea. read more

It took a couple holes to shake off the complete lack of decent customer service from the grumpy old man working the counter. Somebody needs to put him out to pasture. Even the other workers commented on the way he treated us and said he treats them the same. Too much money to spend and better courses to spend it at to put up with that! read more

On Saturday evening I visited Stony Creek Golf Course with a few friends, one of which was only looking to ride along in our carts and enjoy the night. Our group was met with hostility by the gentleman named "Larry" for no apparent reason upon entering the clubhouse. Perhaps this was because we were 4 young adults wearing casual clothing, but we didn't see this as a problem since the course has no defined dress code- which is beside the point. Larry began to question our ability as golfers in a rude fashion; he asked if we had ever golfed before, told us that we couldn't share clubs with our third man (who decided to ride instead of play because of Larry's demeanor), and that we should use the driving range instead of playing the 9 holes that initially requested to play. This kind of behavior is extremely off-putting to Stony Creek's appeal for us as a group. Two of us in our group have been frequent visitors for over four years, playing multiple times each month throughout each season. We have never witnessed this type of unprofessionalism throughout the many years of our combined golf experiences, and we are sad to say that Saturday's round may be our last. read more

After a couple days of business meetings in the offices of a teaming partner a few of us took to the course for half a day of relaxation. After a quick search I decided on Stony Creek Golf Course located inside the MetroPark. Unfortunately, players will have to buy a $7.00 day MetroPark entrance pass to get to the golf course. There's no way around it but the good news is if you show your paid pass they give you $5.00 off your purchase so it's really only $2.00 to get in. Clubhouse: Nice clubhouse with a restaurant right next to the pro-shop counter making it easy to order a breakfast sandwich for the go while paying for your game, range balls and picking up your cart. - Pro-shop: Decently stocked with just about everything you'll need if you have your own clubs but if you're looking to buy clubs then this isn't the pro shop for you. A big plus was the box of gently used balls 4 for $3.00, all of which were in fantastic shape. Perfect for the beginning golfer or the not-so-good golfer like myself. - Restaurant: Good food served fast. Post game I ordered the 1/3lb burger and the veggies were fresh, more than ample amount of good cheese not that cheep processed crap and a well prepared average tasting patty. Commutatively it made a pretty good burger with Jalapeno chips and draft beer for $8.00. -Service: The lady working the restaurant was really nice and efficient. The pro-shop folks weren't unpleasant but not very warming. A little smile and pleasantry would probably make a much better experience for everyone. Ranges: - Driving: The driving range is grass and located back in the woods behind the clubhouse. Range balls come in three basket sizes ranging from $3.00, $5.00 and if memory serves me correct $7.00. The distances don't have numbers only poles. Although they are clearly seen they could use putting out a couple more. If they aren't going to put the yardage on the markers themselves then they definitely should put out a distance chart annotating each marker. Overall it wasn't bad. - Chipping and Putting: I didn't have time to practice chipping and putting so I'm not even sure if they had a area for these so I'll have to pass this off to my fellow Yelpers. Equipment: Rental clubs are OK not much else. I also don't think they have more than a few sets. The carts are equally just OK. They drive fine but are old and in need of updating. Course: - Fairways: Vary from straight and long to short and dog legged and except for a few holes not much of a slope. We got carts but in hindsight I wished we should have gotten pushcarts because of the beauty of the trees and grass on this cool crisp morning. Downside, bugs. Bring mosquito repellent. The grass on the fairway was in good growth and care. Far better than some of the public courses I've played around the country. The grass paralleling fairways wasn't especially thick making it somewhat forgiving if you're hitting out of it and not so helpful in stopping your ball from rolling into the drink. All the tee boxes, Blue, White, Gold and Red were well-maintained, good job. Our lady golfer in our group appreciated it as so did we because she was hitting it awesome off the tee on this business associates game of best ball. - Greens: Moderate to large sized with a steady moderate speed to them. I can't remember size and play of the aprons so they couldn't be too bad. - Bunkers/Sand Traps: All fairly reasonable to avoid, yet we didn't. However, the bunker height also wasn't to terrible to get out of and onto the green. Overall: This is a good course at a fairly good price and I recommend coming out to play. However, since I don't know many courses in the area to compare it to (being a visitor and all)...I'm giving it 3.5 Stars and rounding down to 3 only because customer service could've been better and I don't know if they have a chipping and putting practice area. If they do I don't know the condition. I can't help it but I feel happy helpful people should man golf courses. There's enough stress that people put on themselves with this game and the cost isn't cheep so smile and make people feel it's worth the time and money. This golf course is simply horrible. I've played this course twice and the first time had me a bit on edge, we played the first round in about 5 hours which was manageable but still long. The second time we simply left the course after 10 holes! I'm no tiger woods of golf but I play fairly quickly and can shoot fairly well. The course management must have booked the tee times every 3 minutes. Just horrible that I have to leave a course because it's been over 4 hours to play 10 holes. Had the most awful golf experience ever yesterday. Full slate of tee times, yet they decide it's ok to jam a twosome and at least one foursome out in front of us at the tenth tee turn. Complete money grab and super unprofessional. Turned out to be a 5 hour and fifteen minute round. I will NEVER play here again. Just bad business. read more

Been playing golf fifty years. Took a Japanese customer there. He hit the ball in the woods on a par three. Rules say to re hit. Ranger said we were holding up play. Rules say re hit on Par 3. Ranger called Shelby Police for meeting .Would he have called or said anything if my customer were caucausion? Rasist golf coarser!
