So I grabbed all my gear and headed to YOLO Fliers Club for PGA HOPE. They have a program that gives active-duty service members, retirees, and veterans six weeks of lessons from the pros. Figured it was time to work on hitting the ball... apparently throwing it isn't going to help my score. Now first, being around other service members is like being around unsupervised toddlers . After the caffeine wears off, we become manageable . The GM is our lead contact, and this gentleman is pure professionalism. Same goes for the rest of the team. They give great instruction and are so patient with us. With this group, I feel like that deserves its own round of applause haha. The entire course is beautiful and very well taken care of. The facilities are excellent too. Getting to learn from the pros while having a good laugh with other service members has been a great experience. If you're in the area and can get in, I'd give it a try.

I spent my childhood summer days out at the pool. I have been out here for celebration dinners, and celebrations of life ceremonies. And before I was born, my aunt had her wedding reception out here. You can see that the YFC holds a dear spot in my heart - my grandpa was even the president of the club at one point. The YFC is a great spot for any occasion - the clubhouse is a great spot for a casual lunch - the sandwiches are all solid options and the specials are always great. Enrique who runs the clubhouse is the most inviting gentleman. The course itself is still very solid. It's always busy out there but still well maintained. There is plenty of parking, and it's beautiful out on the country. Come in for a round of golf, or to enjoy a lovely lunch or a bowl of popcorn by the pool.

During set up, their staff was there to assist us with tables, table clothes, big displays, podiums, colored napkins to match our school colors and much more, all with good cheer and willingness. We offered attendees a choice of 5 different entrees, and each table was served all at the same time, and first table to last was under 5 minutes. Considering we were a big group (there were 107 of us) they serviced us well. They let us use their bar as a 'no host' bar, and the drinks were good and fairly priced. The food quality really was excellent. It was every bit as good as going to a fine restaurant and ordering off the menu. No one complained about anything, from the filet mignon to the squash ravioli. All of us were quite pleased. They even accommodated a few gluten-free meals and the like. The setting is also quite beautiful. They let us use their big patio right off the dining room for a memorial table and to hang out, and everybody commented on how nice the golf course looked. Would have been very upset if I would have shown up with my family to have Mothers Day and turned away, especially coming form Southern CA. The food, as you can see, is delicious. My favorite is their homemade chips and salsa lol. I just started using their gym. It's small but I like that. They offer yoga classes and Zumba. I'm learning how to play golf right now, but I'm also interested in learning how to play tennis . It's one of my favorite places to hang out now.

The club began in 1924!! There are events for children and adults of all ages. If your game is not up to par, there are teaching pros to help with the golf game or tennis game.

The garden area for the ceremony was so clean and had a lot of beautiful greenery and florals for our spring wedding. Cocktail hour was on the covered patio (with fans and low tables and chairs that made it more comfortable for our older guests) and had a beautiful view of the course. The conservatory (where we had the reception) was absolutely beautiful and the venue just recently had their ceiling draping permanently installed, and it just made it that much more beautiful in there. One of the things I loved about this venue was that everything was in one location, which made it easy for our guests to move from one area to the next. Everything turned out exactly how I envisioned and a huge part of that is thanks to Kelle, our day of coordinator. She made sure that everything ran smoothly, that the decor was placed where I wanted it, and that we were all taken care of. Throughout the whole planning process, Kelle was always so upbeat, helpful, and had great communication. She was always available for any of my questions and was very accommodating with any and all requests my parents and I had. The GBGC staff was extremely professional and very attentive to my husband and I and our guests the whole day. One of the biggest highlights that my friends and family are still talking about (almost two months later) was the FOOD!!! I can't even keep track of how many people have complimented and raved about the food at our wedding. I didn't realize this initially, but the venue tray passed both food AND drinks during cocktail hour. This was so nice for guests to focus on mingling and enjoying the atmosphere rather than waiting in a line the whole time. The appetizers we chose were the veg flatbread pizza, coconut shrimp, and the teriyaki beef skewers. All of them were absolutely delicious! The one thing my dad said was that the guests who were sitting at tables at the furthest end of the patio weren't able to get many appetizers because the GBGC staff were coming out the door on the opposite end and were getting swarmed by the other guests before they made their way down the patio. My dad mentioned this to the staff and they were quick to make adjustments and started sending waiters out the farthest door to get to those other guests. This was so appreciated! For dinner, we chose the beef short ribs, the chicken, and the mushroom ravioli. ALL meals were devoured and once again, my friends and family were raving about how good everything was.. even the bread and butter! Lol. It truly was our best day ever and a huge part of that is thanks to Kelle and the venue!
