Here's a clean, readable Yelp-style review that keeps your experience intact but flows more…read moresmoothly and sounds polished: First Visit to Splash Zone - Overland, Ohio This was my first visit to Splash Zone in Overland, Ohio. Registration is a bit of a process. You first have to create a profile through the Lorain County Metro Parks system, then return to the Splash Zone site to register for a specific program on a designated day and time. Once registered, the system shows your cost--mine initially showed $0. I arrived about 30 minutes early on the morning of my class, which turned out to be helpful because I had to re-register in person. After completing that, I was told there would normally be a $3 fee due to my SilverSneakers account. However, the woman at the front desk kindly let me attend for free that day, explaining that future visits would be $3. Since I'd never been there before, I had to navigate through several locker and pool areas. There are multiple pools separated by glass dividers with automatic doors--someone shared a helpful tip that the small black box above the door shows which side to stand on to trigger it. The instructor came in without much of an introduction, set up a small carry-on-size speaker, put on her headset, and began the class. The workout was aqua Tabata (a Japanese-style interval workout): 20 seconds of fast-paced movement followed by 10 seconds of rest. The class lasted 45 minutes. I stayed for about 30 minutes, choosing to leave early since shower space is limited and I like to be considerate of others. The workout itself was excellent, and being in the water felt really good. The showers, however, were not great--hair on the floor and a general "public park" feel, even at 10:30 a.m. I was glad I wore water shoes. On the plus side, the water temperature and the very hot shower afterward were appreciated. The instructor mentioned that this is her business and encouraged people to connect on Facebook (with a profile photo), and it's clear she's very talented. Overall, despite a few logistical and cleanliness issues, I'd go back again--and next time, I'd happily pay the $3 when I'm in town.

Outdoor pool My kids…read moreloved it! I have been to splashzone for years and this was my first time utilizing the outdoor pool. It costs $8 per person no matter the age. We had three young children with us. You enter through the main pool area and walk to your right out a set of doors. There is a large pool area that is sectioned off for different uses. There is a gradual entry area with a water playground for kids, this is connected to the main part of the pool that gets about 5 feet deep. There are 2 slides that you have to be 48 inches to ride. The lifeguards have a break for 15 minutes after 45 minutes of swimming. All kids have to get out of the water. While waiting there are lots of lounge chairs, a snack shack offer ice cream, hot dogs, pretzels, etc. along with a playground and swing area for the kids. There are also two indoor areas you can take the kids to play with the frog pool for younger kids and the indoor water playground.

If you're looking to party in the day time or people watch; the pool was awesome. Grab a lounge chair or jump right into the mess and you're transported to a Jersey Shore-esque atmosphere (but I'm told less Jersey Shore than some of the other swim up bars that Put In Bay offers). When we went on Sunday at 3pm, the party was going full swing and the DJ was great. There was no cover charge on Sunday and my friends reported the drinks as strong and reasonably priced. We stayed there for a few hours, danced in the pool, did plenty of people watching and enjoyed the escape from reality. I'd recommend Sand Bar in Put In Bay if you're looking for the best swim up bar and a fantastic DJ. Don't miss out!

Half the time they are day dreaming instead of doing their jobs! I have yet to talk to a person that has had a good experience with the staff/ lifeguards. I love that our town has such a nice pool for families to enjoy, but each year I see a decline in attendance. I'm starting to see why people down right refuse to attend the Avon lake pool and swim lessons. Such a shame! Both my kids had swim lessons the past two week and I had to bribe them, with a toy to get them to go. They said "those people aren't nice" - from my 4 year old!

My family and I can't express how grateful we are for Chuck at Tropical Pools. We had been scammed…read moreby another pool installation company who left us high and dry after ordering our pool in 2020. Chuck was nice enough to come out and see the mess we were left with, which was a pool and a very large hole sitting in our backyard for almost a year. Chuck went above and beyond to finish the job including all the installation, plumbing, and materials needed which the previous company promised but never delivered. Chuck not only delivered all he promised but made sure we had top-of-the-line equipment and was patient with teaching us how to care for all of it properly. During the beginning of our installation process with Chuck, he had to have an unexpected surgical procedure. When Chuck should have been taking time to care for himself and recover, he was on the phone from the hospital assuring us the job would be done. Upon being released from the hospital, Chuck showed up at our house to ensure the job was being completed correctly. Although Chuck is a busy guy and sometimes materials are on back order due to Covid and lack of manufacturing....(things clearly out of his control), he has always answered our questions and responded to our phone calls in a timely fashion. Even when the job was completed he came back to check on us with opening and closing the pool and see if we needed anything. He has always been kind, patient, and extremely fair. Chuck could have easily asked us for more money than we agreed upon to finish the mess someone else had started in our yard. Chuck was more than financially fair with all the work he had to do to help finish the project. I have recommended Chuck and Tropical Pools to other families. He came highly recommended to us when we thought our situation was hopeless. If you want your pool job done right (Chuck treats every installation and project as if it were his own backyard) and for a fair price, give him a call!
