Spent some time on SFA campus a few weeks ago strolling down memory lane...as a '91 Alumni I wanted to show our 2 nieces all of the highlights of SFA sooooo we strolled into the Stone Fort Museum...in all honesty, I really had no idea what to expect since I hadnt been in the museum for 35 years but it was a pleasant surprise....they had a few interactive things for kids to partake in which was exactly what I was looking for...our nieces were enamored with the old typewriter that they were able to peck on....the employees were cordial but they could've really engaged a whole lot more with us especially showing the kids the interactive stuff....I felt like I was having to pull teeth to get any information from the staff andddddd we were the only ones in the museum....in fact, I was told by one staffer that I could QR code the information that was at the interactive station eventhough he was standing right beside me and I was asking him questions....it was flabbergasting.....the dying art of this world...NO communication skills verbally and he really had a captive audience....I apologized for bothering him and making him work and then I asked, 'what would you be doing right now?' Andddd he said, working on our social media.....I honestly had to chuckle and shook my head.....Maybe the Museum director might encourage staff to be a bit more engaging with folks who actually step foot into the Museum!!!!!! read more
