What a fun experience and place for a birthday party! My Grandbud celebrated his 3rd birthday here with friends and family, and I am so glad I was in town long enough to be a part of it. A great place to hold parties, play, learn, be curious, and more importantly, have fun! He and his friends had so much fun exploring and playing everywhere! They could pretend to be service heroes, doctors, working at a restaurant or at the grocery store. Be an astronaut, play on a ship, and learn with a bunch of gadgets and gizmos. My grandson had his 3rd birthday party here at Discovery Science Place. My husband and I have never been here before. It really is a fun place to have fun and learn. When you enter, you can choice to go right or left, two sides to the center. To the right is a few games, (such as connect four), life size light bright, and a cool vacuum that you put fluff balls in and watch how it filters through the vacuum suction tubes. You can walk through the volcano and experience what an earthquake could possibly feel like. Walk all the way up to the ship deck and see the world. Down on the main floor, my granddaughter loved learning the magic of being on television. When coming in, if you turned left, you enter the world of life skills and career options. The makeshift grocery store is very realistic and makes it fun for kids to learn to shop and organize. The kids can pretend to work in medical clinics, veterinarian clinics, restaurant personnel (food prep/chef/server), be an astronaut and explore the outer world, firefighter, police officer, lawyer, and/or judge, medical specialist, and more. There is a separate room for birthdays or gatherings. There is a very low price of $10 pre adult/student and discounts offered for seniors and military. We took an hour detour to drive to Tyler for this, and it was totally worth it!!! Depending on the age, kids might play for 1.5 hours on average, and there are plenty of fun and educational activities. I highly recommend checking it out! read more

New to Tyler, searching for fun things to do with a toddler, we decided to try the Discovery Science Place on a Saturday morning. This was a lot of fun, even if the toddler was a bit young for some of the exhibits - they did have a nice variety of activities for a wide age range, so I could see this as something that kids of all ages could enjoy. It has a warehouse/unfinished feel, but undoubtedly the kids will either think that's cool or not care whatsoever. Not a traditional museum, very hands-on. Climb, touch, explore. Nice to see a lot of local businesses sponsoring (Brookshires, CHRISTUS, Southside Bank, etc). Prices seemed reasonable. It's not an amusement park, but it's worth bringing curious minds to see. read more

With there being little to choose from for things for kids to do. Came across this place. Took my 3 yr old niece here. She fell in love with it. So did I. There are so many hands on things to do for the kids. Many fun learning activities. From cooking and shopping. To being a firefighter. Astronaut. Veterinarian etc. let's just say. My niece did not want to leave this place. In the 10+ years I've lived in here, this was my first time visiting. If you have little ones or big kids too. Don't hesitate to bring them. The main discovery area was awesome all five of my children had an amazing time. The dinosaurs is not worth paying extra for lots of reading and not enough activities for the kids in that area. We will return for just a Main discovery area. read more

Great concept, but they should really be periodically checking to make aure every exhibit has all the components, is plugged in, and all the ipad/tvs are working. Only one button on the trains worked. NONE of the ipads were working. Minimal golf balls... there was nothing to mine... the inagination playground was closed. We were all extremely disappointed. For its price it was pretty good. I was very delighted that there was plenty for younger kids to do. 3yr & 1.5 yr for us. But if have have kids up to 10 they would probably like if. My wife really liked it. About half the stuff was over my kids head but again they are toddlers they aren't the only target audience. My kids loved the shopping place. That was pretty cool!!! We would go back again if we lived there. Maybe once every couple years not something every year or month but just every couple years to see how my kids change too! read more

If you don't mind a bunch of broken and poorly maintained displays, it's an ok diversion on a rainy day...once. Although there are some interesting activities, It left me wondering why the director in charge isn't embarrassed to take your money. Oh, also, be forewarned- no toilet paper. I wish I would have known they were doing field trips most of the day. We paid $60 for tickets to the main part and the dinosaur exhibit but unfortunately we were not able to enjoy it. Children were running everywhere unsupervised destroying exhibits, screaming, knocking my children over and had their toes stomped multiple times. read more

This place is amazing! We brought our 18 month granddaughter here and she lasted for four hours! Although a lot of the activities were for older kids, she was able to have the freedom to explore, climb, touch and be with other kids. We let her roam around exploring all kinds of things. The hardest part was having to repeat to not put things in her mouth. There's a water and sand display outside. There's two floors of everything you can imagine on the inside. This place is clean, well thought out and loads of fun for little kids and big kids. Bring snacks as there's a room to sit and have a snack and a drink before you head back in for more fun. read more

Had great exhibits. Kids had fun. Not to crowded. A little expensive for what it is. Adults should be free or cheaper since we have to attend with our kids. Loved the pretend areas. It has two areas for play and discovery which keeps kids entertained and learning. One complaint is the staff was cleaning and vacuuming for the last hour to half hour. Makes you feel unwelcome. That should be done after closing or have cheaper price after a certain time in the day. That was the only flaw really. read more

For a larger city this wouldn't pass as a Science Museum, but it is pretty good for a town the size of Tyler. There are a lot of interactive exhibits and learning experiences. Unfortunately, they don't update the exhibits often and it can get a little unkempt. My 10 year old son and 7 year old daughter loved this place. We stayed busy for almost 3 hours. The ten year old loved the gemstone sifting exhibit. We actually spent a good 15 minutes before going in and on the way out realized we could buy bags of sand with guaranteed stones. read more

I love the cave and how realistic it is. I also love the exhibit Imagination Play Ground. The big tablet beside Einsteins brain is very fun. The boat is really cool and I love the news station. Overall, you guys could improve the imagination playground by adding more foam blocks. Five stars! read more
