I was here for a full body skin cancer screening and a follow-up visit. My previous Dermatologist…read morerelocated up to The Villages, so I had to find another one for this year's screening. I would rate the medical care as 4 stars and the office as 2 stars. While I would prefer to see an MD dermatologist, I felt very satisfied with the level of care that certified PA Michael Barrera provided. He also had a great bedside manner. During both visits he explained the process and answered all my questions. He is the reason that I will likely return here in the future rather than finding another office in the area. The office staff was nice enough, but... Long story shorter, they billed me up front for a procedure on my first visit. When I got my EOB from the insurance company it showed that the insurance paid them in full for the procedure too and I only should have paid the office visit copay. On my second visit they wanted to charge me a copay again. When I said I should have a credit she looked up my record and said the system did not show any credit. I explained the insurance EOB showed the insurance paid them to, so they got paid twice. Again, she said the system did not indicate this. So then I then pulled out a printed copy of the EOB. She acknowledged it showed they got paid twice. She went and spoke to the office manager and when she came back I suddenly had a credit. They did not charge the copay for the follow-up visit and they will now issue a refund for the remaining balance. They never contacted me after the claim was paid to tell me about this overcharge and if I didn't call them out on this and show proof they would have kept my payment too. To put it nicely, that's unacceptable! So if you go here make sure you keep on eye on the charges and what your insurance pays - because they demand payment up front. Oh, and I will have to wait several weeks for the refund to go through.

I made an appointment for my first visit to a dermatologist for Feb of 2026, filled out their forms…read moreonline, uploaded my identification and proof of insurance and attended the appointment. When I checked in for my appointment, I had to fill out more paperwork and give them my proof of insurance and identification again! Why would I have to repeat this?I noticed a sign in the lobby that stated that full payment is due at the time of service. During my appointment I had a biopsy performed and two areas frozen on my face. I paid my bill in full as I was charged. A few days later, I received a call from a staff member with my results of biopsy and was told that I needed to be scheduled for a procedure to remove the carcinoma. Before explaining the procedure they immediately went into scheduling. This news caught me a little off guard and I had a lot of questions regarding what the procedure was and what I can expect. Maria explained it verbally and moved forward with scheduling the procedure for the second week of April. Two weeks prior, I was out of the country and received a call telling me that the dr doesn't take my insurance. Now wouldn't you think that this would have been known before my initial visit when I provided my proof of insurance or even at the time of biopsy when they had to provide a cost of service before performing the biopsy? I certainly would have thought this and believed that they had done so. So, I had to cancel this appointment as well as a future appointment for a full body scan. I thought that both of these appointments were cancelled as I had asked and then I received messaging confirming my active appointments that I had cancelled. So this tells me that the person I communicated with didn't cancel my appointments. This resulted in yet another call. Now once I was back in the country I received messaging confirming a bill in the mail for an additional $19 and some change. How can I be receiving a bill for something I was fully charged for and I payed in office? This is not a company or clinic that I can recommend at all. After dealing with these unprofessional administrative errors, I don't have faith in their dermatology treatments and procedures either.
