Don't expect anything near as fancy as the ones down in the city, and they basically leave once every hour, with the exception of lunch when there is a two hour break. However, the trip is actually really pleasant, particularly since you pass a number of remote camp grounds, though the only reason they are remote is that ferry is really the only way you can get to them.

On a recent holiday to Thailand booked through Tim the manager at Travelplanners, he managed to…read morestuff up basic bookings for ferries and our hotel. When we arrived at Nathon Pier, Koh Samui, where Tim had told us to go. The receipt he told us to print wasn't recognised and the company we booked it through didn't even stop at that pier. So we paid again for another ferry. He organised a convulated route to our hotel, which involved paying extra for a pick up, when we could have caught a ferry to a pier two minutes walk from our hotel. At our hotel we found out he had outsourced the booking to a company that had used a budget booking site. They had also stuffed up the booking so instead of sleeping on two seperate beds, I spent 9 days sleeping on the same bed with my cousin. Tim has not replied to my email sent on January 14 asking him to explain the booking mishap and it has been over 17 days. Also since his family owns the business there is no avenue for complaint higher than Tim. He refuses to CC any of the owners in on complaint emails.

Forest Coach Lines…read more If you live in the Forest area, then you are no doubt familiar with the green and white buses that take us to work in the morning, pick us up from school and ferry us home after one too many at Friday Night Drinks. A highly-localised bus service, Forest Coachlines has operated on the Northern Beaches' Forest area for years and years, providing an otherwise transport-deprived area with an opportunity to offset its carbon footprint. Those in the area know; these familiar buses cover the area comprehensively, and stop within ten minutes walk of almost everyone's home, work or school. The bus lanes that keep popping up in and around the area mean that getting the bus to wherever you are headed remains the fastest, cheapest and most environmentally-friendly option. There is, however, a downside. Although extremely frequent during the day, particularly on the popular City and Chatswood routes (270 and 280), the last bus home from the CBD is at midnight on Friday and Saturday, with a 2 am option from Chatswood on Saturday. Better than nothing, some would say, but still frustratingly early for those who like to party. However, beggars can't be choosers - with a laughable lack of government-provided transport services in the area, Forest Coachlines have stepped up to fill the gap and take us (mostly) where we need to be.
