I have to admit, I didn't like going there, and I was really happy when I could finally go home. It was fine at first before I was in the advanced math class. Now that I think back, my math was seriously bad before Brighter Future. I made some friends there who were nice. My mom also signed me up for the Taekwondo next door, and there was a donut store (it recently closed :(). The point is the location is great. Before covid, Brighter Future was overcrowded. The ratio of staff to students was about 1 to 7. We were forced to finish two packets a week, but I really didn't want to do it, so I always brought it home and lied about finishing it. The best part before was the break room where they played a movie and you could play on your devices. There were many older kids swearing though. Now, I'm not in Brighter Future anymore, but when I come back, they are very friendly and make me feel in a welcoming environment when I visit. The math was very useful, which resulted in me being at the highest math level during 7th grade and 8th, but I feel like the English one is useless. They also have this system where you could collect tickets and buy different items!!! I have to admit, as a kid, I hated this place before, but now that I look back, this place has really impacted my life in a good way.

All the teachers have been fantastic! My eldest's first teacher was Mrs. Fang and I thought she was the best teacher possible, so patient and caring, and taught the kids so much. However, I later realized that all their teachers are very good! I was a little worried initially when I found out my younger kid's first teacher wouldn't be in Mrs. Fang's class but again was pleasantly surprised that Mrs. Celia and Mrs. Gul are just as great and he has adapted incredibly fast. The teachers really care for the kids and have immense patience too. He isn't potty trained now, but I imagine like for my eldest, the teachers at Little Tree will train him before he's 3. I remember dreading doing potty training and by the time I thought about starting, turns out they had been practicing at school already so I didn't have to put in any effort. Academics wise I have been incredibly impressed too. They learn a lot of Chinese language and cultural things including poems which I can barely understand. For English, I tried to teach my kid the ABCs and reading the BOB books but over the years I have learned I don't have to do much actually since school has prepares them well. After just 2.5 months I can see my 2 year old has grown a lot and can sing the ABCs, learned to clean up, and communicates much better. My eldest in TK age can really well and even reads me stories now. One of her classmates that changed schools a few months back told me that the new school is not nearly as advanced and didn't realize how much our kids had learned there. When my eldest started transitioning to the next class, I really appreciated how the teachers would take her over to the new class and let her check out the place for 1-2 weeks before the transfer so she can get familiar slowly. The teachers also check that the kids are actually ready to be moved up both emotionally and academically. This was in contrast from my friend's preschool when they would just move kids once they were at the age, and her kid ended up adjusting very well and couldn't catch up with the older kids. We had several transitions and each time very smooth. I also like how the school really celebrates all the holidays and puts on great shows throughout the year, with the Christmas holiday performance being one of the biggest ones. I love watching the kids sing and dance in both English and Chinese. Lastly, the director Mrs. Amanda and teachers are all very cautious with the kids. I get notified if my kids have some scratches or bruises even if they were there in the morning when they got to school. If they fall or bump themselves, they will also tell me. One time my kid got a little pebble up her nose and they were very worried, calling me that they were trying to get her to sneeze it out or else I would need to take her to the doctors. I trust Little tree to take care of my kids well. I know I wrote a bit of a long essay but I just have a lot of positive things to say about them. Overall, highly recommend sending your kids here! My second son Jacob is growing fast and I will definitely consider placing him in Little Tree at Cupertino again for pre-K. Prior to St Simon, we were the "never-private school" people. Having 2 kids at St Simon has completely changed our minds. Not only is it academically more rigorous/challenging; the Catholic values of being neighborly, helpful, respectful, etc. are incorporated in every aspect of the curriculum and reinforced daily by staff and administrators. Social Emotional Learning is reinforced throughout the day. There are MANY opportunities for students of all ages to volunteer/contribute to the community. Yesterday, while we're on vacation, my older son (12 years old) asked if my husband and him can volunteer together again, then was excited to find out that there's an opportunity coming up in January. This is just one of many examples that SSPS is fostering an environment where the students think of others, instead of themselves. Even though many families are well-off financially, there isn't a culture of competition and/or bragging/showing-off. There's also zero-tolerance for bullying. My son was threatened by a friend (not sure if it was a joke or not, and nothing bad happened), but the administrative staff and teachers took immediate action and ensured that my son felt safe at school (my son said his friend wasn't serious). My younger son was diagnosed with ADHD and other special needs and the SSPS staff was SUPER helpful in both providing accommodations for him in the classroom, as well as coordinating with an OT to come onsite to work with him twice a month. The accommodations makes his day at school much more smooth and enjoyable, and he absolutely LOVES school. I was raised Catholic but my husband is agnostic. Neither of us have found anything to be "overly religious." The values that are taught are the ones I ascribe to: be kind, be polite, be helpful, respect your teachers/parents, love your siblings and friends. My kids don't like the Mass but they are able to appreciate the value in sitting still and having the time to reflect (or daydream). The school + parish also offers wonderful activities throughout the year! There are BBQs, sporting events, and lots of other ways to be involved in the community. I used to do yard duty once a a week and really enjoy getting to know the kids in the lower grades. Highly recommend SSPS!

Our expectations have been so far exceeded that I can hardly even believe it. I love this school so much, and my daughter is so happy and thriving. Within weeks of starting classes here, she completely changed her outlook on school. She is excited to wake up in the morning on school days, and she's motivated to put real thought and effort into her assignments even though the work is sometimes even more than was expected at her old school. St. Simon has made learning fun and engaging for her so that it feels like a joy, not a chore. Her teachers are always available to answer her questions or mine, and with their support it didn't take long for her to close many of the glaring academic gaps I'd been so worried about. The student body here is diverse and friendly. There are kids from many different backgrounds and kids interested in all sorts of different things, from sports to art to robotics and beyond. The students are taught to truly appreciate and celebrate their differences and to understand that everyone has a unique part to play in the school community and the wider community as well. I think it's worth noting that, although it seems the majority of the families at St. Simon are catholic, my family is not catholic - however, I have always been made to feel so welcome and this has never been an issue. If my daughter has questions about the catholic faith there is always someone to answer her questions without judgment and without any pressure. This is a very welcoming place and I have attended mass at the St. Simon parish many times over the course of the school year and have always been made to feel completely welcome. I appreciate the values and morals my daughter is taught as part of a well-rounded catholic education. In summary, this place has changed my daughter's life and by extension changed my life. My children have attended The Waldorf School of the Peninsula for the past four years. While many…read moreof the teachers are caring, dedicated, and deeply invested in their students' growth, the same cannot be said for the school's leadership and administration. Unfortunately, the administration is dysfunctional, lacks transparency, and demonstrates poor alignment in priorities and resource allocation. The school has a large population of neurodivergent students, yet the current educational support structure is alarmingly inadequate. This year, the entire "educational support team" for the Mountain View campus (grades 6-12) -- consisting of ONLY one learning specialist and one counselor -- has been stretched even further to cover the Los Altos campus (grades Kindergarten-5). The administration claims to have a "robust educational support team". However, a staff of 2 people is far from robust and is completely insufficient to serve the needs of the entire school (Kindergarten - 12th grade). Despite my repeated efforts to raise this concern with the administration, they failed to take any meaningful action. While the teaching staff genuinely care about their students, the lack of administrative competence and adequate support services significantly undermines the school's ability to meet the needs of all learners. There are many excellent public and private schools in the area that are far better equipped to support diverse students. Your child deserves that level of care and commitment.

They just give a book to read for English, and they don't give you a standardized curriculum for testing , and most topics like grammar(phrases, part of speech), reading comprehension and vocabulary is not included. They don't even have history class. Science class is just doing science experiments that don't follow a standardized course. Not only they don't have a standardized course but the experiments are usually something to learn a long time ago, eg refraction or reflection. On top of behind in most classes, they also spend too much time on arts, music, dance that are optional classes to take in high school. And they have a fundraising thing for 8th grade that took up all the time for learning and it is mandatory. So Waldorf, therefore is not a good place to spend your time and money on if you're serious about education, GPA, and getting into a good college

We as a family love the school, each teacher and IA that we've had here are absolutely amazing, they see each child - their strengths and challenges they work with the children, they seem to love what they do and it is reflected on the children. The respect, social emotional support and collaborative environment is truly exceptional, one of a kind, and I see how it allows children the emotional availability they need to focus learn and thrive. The parents involvement makes it a village, and I believe- it takes a village. Aiding on campus and in their classrooms, has strengthened my connection with my children and their friends, and their friends' families. The community is amazing, we share similar values, and as a family we feel surrounded with like minded people. We help each other and each other's children, we notice them we pay attention when they are struggling or sad and we support them with tools we learned from the School's unique parents training program, where we learn to communicate to get cooperation and support kids confidence and well being, help navigate more tricky social situations that otherwise could have had a big impact on our kiddos'.. The training I got here has helped me become a better person and a better parent, feel more capable solving conflicts and support children resolve conflicts, teaching them essentially how to listen and how to help others feel heard, how to come up with thoughtful solutions by themselves, and execute them, to eventually learn how to resolve conflicts on their own.. I wish I learned that when I was a child. Academics alone does not have the impact that critical thinking and communication tools and independent problem solving have on a person's well being and success in the world. So schools that teach both have a huge advantage in my view. The academics here taught thoughtfully while using variety of elements for kids to grasp a deeper understanding and a strong foundation that is not relying on tedious memorization, but on curiosity and learning by experiencing. After hearing from alumni children it sounds like that type of foundation they got here gave them an edge over their peers in a more fast past complex academic environment. This school is a gem in the CUSD…read more - very low risk of bullying. Bullying happens anywhere and in a setting where doors are closed (most schools), it's hard to stop it. At McAuliffe there are eyes and ears everywhere (teachers, parent volunteers, Ia) , so this behavior is stopped very quickly - risk taking. This is one of the pillars. In first grade, for example, I saw kids raising hands asking for help with spelling during writing class. The teacher told them to write the first draft using everything they knew (phonics) and not to stop because they didn't know how to write a word perfectly. (The teacher showed them the correct spelling in the second draft). This is brave spelling and another example where risk taking is encouraged in every curriculum - small group teaching helps kids learn better. In other schools, it's 1 teacher for 20 some kids. My friends have volunteered one day in their kids' class and they were horrified: Kids unable to focus. Literally one student was disturbing the class every 5 seconds. Both my friends felt sorry for the teacher.
