The name Balikbayan means "To Come Back to your Homeland." Locals shared this is a tourist favorite. Mainly because they open early , 10am to 10pm daily, and can accommodate huge groups. You can even order Filipino breakfast here even after 10am. Love their inihaw (grilled in charcoal) squid. They stuffed them with onions and tomatoes, served with their special sauce. The Halo-Halo was a bit of a let down, but their excellent service and great Island Style cabanas setting made up for it. This would not be my first choice here for dining in Bantayan Island as there are many other foodies in the area as it caters more for tourists, but I would not rule them out for their hours, good price, convenience near the beach and their excellent service. We stopped in at the House of Lechon in Talisay, Cebu to try their version of Lechon. They make a regular Lechon and a spicy Lechon. Both taste fantastic!! Love the mixture of spices they use to make such flavorful lechon!! My favorite was the Spicy Lechon!! It was the best I tasted during our 3 week trip in the Philippines. I tried about a dozen of them!! Hey, there were a lot of parties that we attended and each one served lechon. Anyways, the House of Lechon in Talisay, Cebu is a wonderful place to try this popular Filipino delicacy! Their restaurant looks great inside. Calamari was good, broccoli was good, kare kare was ok, but lasagna was very weird (sauce too creamy, wrong type of cheeses used). Cannot recommend the lasgana. Generally the food was good, and so was the service. Definitely worth it for me to have breakfast included in the hotel reservation, and start the day right. Cute decor as well.
