We hired D&D Tree and Landscaping for a concrete patio, fencing, and yard grading project, and…read moreunfortunately the experience was frustrating from start to finish. The concrete came out unlevel with poor finishing -- rough, uneven seams that are visible up close (photos attached, including a level showing the actual pitch). The grading between the sod and concrete was also never done properly, leaving big low spots in the lawn instead of a clean transition. We'd specifically discussed dimensions for a garbage can pad ahead of time, and it still came out too small for our cans to sit on properly. The fence work had similar problems: one post was warped, the decorative slats at the top weren't properly secured (visible gaps and loose fasteners), and one post was left without the decorative angle cut that every other post on the fence has. On top of that, they damaged our deck during the job, and we ended up having to go around them directly and file our own claim with their insurance to get it repaired. We gave them several chances to make things right. Daniel eventually admitted the work didn't meet standard and agreed to pay for a few of the fixes. But once we brought him three contractor estimates, he accused us of inflating the numbers and refused to pay anything. We're left having to pay out of pocket to fix work we already paid them to do correctly the first time. Photos included show the unlevel concrete, fence issues, grading, and pad sizing. Happy to answer questions from anyone considering this contractor.

Alen was stand up and honest about the fact that they wouldn't be the cheapest out there, but the quality would be well worth it. After obtaining multiple quotes, they actually were reasonable with more quality guarantees than others and checked all our boxes. Even after a miscommunication about part of the job (my fault) they ensured us we'd be happy and were extremely accomodating and thoughtful in the design to ensure we enjoyed the outcome. The crew floored us. It's better than we had pictured in our heads. I can't wait to have them back for our next project! We hired Mendoza Brothers in 2023 to redo our front and backyard landscaping and irrigation. Based…read moreon what happened afterward, I would not hire them again and would not recommend them. The most serious issue was the grading of our front yard. After the project, water collected near the house rather than draining away. A timber-edged planting bed they installed also impeded drainage. After our basement flooded, both our general contractor and an engineer inspected the property and identified the grading as a major contributor to the problem. We later had a second flooding event when a major irrigation fitting they had built failed and released a large amount of water into the yard. When another contractor later rebuilt portions of the irrigation and drainage systems, they found additional problems, including sprinkler heads that had been buried while still connected rather than properly removed or capped. The backyard work was also disappointing. The sod they installed ultimately died, we were later told there had not been enough topsoil beneath it, and the yard was left uneven. We ultimately spent tens of thousands of dollars repairing water damage and correcting drainage, irrigation, landscaping, and basement issues. I cannot fairly attribute every dollar of that expense to Mendoza Brothers because multiple factors were involved. But their work created or contributed to several of the problems we had to spend substantial money correcting. I do not write this lightly. In our case, problems with grading and irrigation became serious problems for our house. I would not use Mendoza Brothers again.
