I have been a patron for about 10 years…read moreand have bought a Viking sewing machine, a Juki serger and now a Brother Stellaire Embroidery machine. I keep going back to these kind and knowledgeable people. They have a great repair service too and fixed a machine that was not "fixable" according to the last service tech to whom I took it before I moved here. They offer classes for beginner to advanced enthusiasts and I have taken several classes. Wonderful classes. Impressive and kind customer service. Cheerful, patient, and kind teaching and suggestions. They all listen carefully to me and help me. What nice people! You won't go wrong buying a machine from them. They do back up their sales with education and repairs, no hassles. The store itself is lovely and refreshing. Quilts cover the walls, fabric displayed beautifully, notions, threads, patterns. Everything you could wish for! Come and see. I'm glad that I Did!

I stopped in one Saturday just to check out the shop as we were traveling through the area. I was…read moreextremely pleased with the shop, the personnel, the inventory and was elated to see embroidered quilts on display. I was a Dream Machine owner and was sold immediately on the Luminaire when I was shown a few features. I went back the next weekend (2 hour trip from home) and traded in my Dream Machine for the Luminaire. While I was there all the staff was congenial and very helpful. I was never pushed, pressured or made to feel stupid or unimportant. Time was spent teaching me the Luminaire and again never felt that I was wasting or taking up valuable time. She was willing to answer any questions I had and show me anything that I wished to see. Many places once the sale is made you struggle to get service. That is NOT the case with this shop. I was there for almost 3 hours and loved every minute of it. I only wish the shop was closer to me, but maybe it is good that it isn't they would get tired of seeing me! LOL I love that if the need should arise maintenance can be done on a machine while you shop. I cannot say enough about the shop and the family that operates it. They take pride in what they do.

My mother recommended G Street Fabrics to me after our local JoAnn closed, and she spoke highly of…read morethe store from her years of shopping here. I wanted to continue supporting it for that reason and for its sense of community, but my experiences have been consistently disappointing. Yesterday was my final straw. I am new to sewing and come in seeking guidance on fabric selection and product education, yet nearly every visit is met with dismissive or rude customer service. The older representatives in particular often do not greet me and respond reluctantly or faintly when I ask for assistance. Help is provided, but it often feels like an inconvenience unless they are in the mood. Yesterday, when I asked a representative at the fabric counter for help understanding a product, she was short-tempered and instead told me they were closing at 5:15 p.m., despite the website listing a 7:30 p.m. closing time. The interaction felt rushed, dismissive, and disrespectful. At checkout, I asked for a bag for several small tools and fabric. The cashier said they were running low, and etc and tossed the bag at me. This type of behavior has happened on multiple visits and consistently dampens the experience. I truly wanted to like this store, but the repeated lack of basic courtesy--especially toward newer customers--has made me unwilling to return. I hope management takes these ongoing customer service issues seriously.

They've been in business for over 80 years, and their deep sewing knowledge really sets them apart from other stores. Most employees have been here for years--some for decades--which truly shows their dedication and love for what they do. Even the store owners are very dedicated; you'll often see them on the floor greeting customers, which shows how much they care. Courtney is super helpful and really knows pattern making, Linda has been part of G Street for decades, and Leo is incredibly knowledgeable and always willing to help. You'll soon know everyone by name because they naturally become your sewing-expertise coaches. I even call them the fabric whisperers because they always seem to know exactly what you need. I bought my sewing machine here with Esther's help--she is so kind and genuinely wants you to succeed long after your purchase. They also offer upholstery services and sewing-machine repairs--both of which have saved me more than once. And I have to give a special shout-out to Lew, the sewing tech. He's the absolute best and always knows exactly how to fix any issue. I can't recommend G Street enough. It's a must-visit for anyone who sews, creates, or simply loves beautiful materials.

The young lady matched the fabric to almost perfection. She saved my event!!!! Not wearing the purchased dress was not an option! Not to mention how friendly she and the other staff were. I then went to the back room to get the thread I needed and..this room gave me an immediate flashback to my childhood when my Mom took me to Morten Schenk in downtown Baltimore. I loved it because the store was a wall of buttons!!! It looked like jewels all over the walls. It was a fond memory that I shared with one off the staff who remembered the store. All in all, the store itself had the most incredible fabric I've seen in a very long time. It it now on my list of favorites. Please visit if you are in need of a showstopper garment. Fabric beyond your wildest dreams! You wont be disappointed.
