Told me my 3 month old, exclusively breast fed baby, is overweight at 14lbs. Never took the time to try and get to know me or the baby during the appointment. Claims I'm causing his acid reflux by feeding too often and too much. However, I told him that every doctor my child has seen at Loyola suggest a different amount or timing between feeds, and he just rubbed his eyes with frustration and had nothing to say other than there is nothing he can do or say if I'm going to continue to feed him too much or too often. Every article I have read through Le Leche League, Mayo Clinic, or KellyMom all say the same thing about BF babies and weight gain... Maybe you should read this article: kellymom.com/bf/normal/weight-toomuch/ Am I suppose to starve my child, Dr. Stirling? Should I let him cry it out? Should I stunt his growth all because you claim he's too big for his age?
After talking to some other moms, I problem solved and discovered that the reason my son's acid reflux seemed to be getting worse was because I had changed the nipple size to his bottle and he was drinking too much too fast. As soon as I swapped back, he has been okay.
Thanks for nothing, Doc. You are the reason I am leaving Loyola's Pediatrics. Hope you're not like that with all your patients. read more
