Dr Tenenbaum has been my doctor over 20 years. He is the best. I live out of state but continue to see him and utilize the concierge practice. By paying the concierge fee, I can get access to the doctor and the nurse practitioner by text phone or email. There is no better doctor than Dr Steven Tenenbaum. This review is for the medical practice rather than Dr. Tenenbaum himself. I've been a patient of Dr. Tenenbaum (technically one of his physician's assistants...you know the deal) for about 3 years. My medical history is pretty normal, so there isn't much to cover here: go in, get blood work done, get reminded that I have such-and-such value that is slightly above the norm for the population. Rinse, repeat. What drove me away from this practice (other than the 2020 pandemic...) is that Dr. Tenenbaum transitioned his practice to...concierge medicine. This artificially reduces the number of available physicians in the area, ultimately driving up medical costs for patients who do not necessarily need 24/7 support. I cannot ethically support this business practice, despite having the privilege of being able to pay an extra $200/mo for a service that I will likely not benefit significantly from...at least in the short term. I request that physicians reconsider going 100% concierge and consider a hybrid practice model. Allow those who cannot afford concierge medicine the ability to unlock a variety of physicians in the area. Healthcare is challenging enough as it is in this country...please don't add to the problem. read more

I called to make an appointment for a consultation, for my one-year-old son. The woman who answered the phone either seemed like she hated her job, or she was just mad at the world, but it completely turned me off after scheduling the appointment. After sleeping on the situation, I called the next day to cancel the appointment I made because I couldn't fathom the idea that I would take my son to an office that had such rude employees like that working there. Funny enough, the same person answered the phone for me to cancel the appointment and she was still just as nasty as the 1st conversation. It is truly a shame because this doctor has great reviews on his work with other children, but you staff represents your practice! I hope in the future this doctor hires more kinder staff that would be assisting parents and children. read more

As a patient of Dr.Tenenbaums practice for the 4 years I have lived here, I am sadly having to change Drs. Actually, due to everything that has been stated here - both good and bad. He has a waiting list for new patients if you want HIM to be your Dr. I agreed to see a Physicians Assistant because I've always seen PAs at the Doctors I've been to in the past. Love her. She is a sweetheart. My health has changed dramatically in the past year as it was discovered that I have pretty bad heart disease. I wrote a lengthy text on January 11th, requesting that Dr. Tenenbaum become my primary care physician, rather than my PA, and explaining why I need his level of expertise. As of today, I have received no answer by phone or by text. The silence is deafening. Of the reviews here on Yelp, here's what I can confirm. They all are pretty correct. 1. Dr. Tenenbaum has a fantastic bedside manner. Very knowledgeable, and spent a lot of time with me the one time I actually met with him. But he is not accepting new patients. 2. My PA, Shari, is a fantastic person. Very caring and thorough. 3. "Hot Mess" is right on when it comes to administration and presentation in his office. The waiting room is tiny with the few chairs jammed together. Claustrophobics need not bother! There's no level of comfort in that closet of a room. It is definitely a 1970s feel. The good news is that you get in to see the PA pretty quickly, so you don't have to spend too much time in there. 4. I really like Michelle, but she is SUPER-overwhelmed with paperwork, the phone and the "standing room only" waiting room. The last time I was there was after a long weekend. She told me there were 29 messages in voicemail and that she was too busy to even listen to the messages, much less call ANY of them back that day. That was scary to me. 5. Texting is absolutely the way to go with them. The only times I've had to go in I've had the flu, and they were quite accommodating with squeezing me in, and getting a prescription out. As I said in the beginning, every review about Dr. Tenenbaum and his Practice has a ring of truth to it. He deserves a 5 rating, but is not taking new patients. Dr Tenenbaum is a phenomenal doctor who truly cares for his patients. Yes, there is a wait to see him when you visit... That is because, unlike almost every other doctor, he doesn't rush you, he is friendly, listens to what you have to say and treats you entirely before you go on your way. If you don't want to wait to be seen, there are plenty of doctors out there that will see you in a more timely manner just to rush you out the door. I see there is mention of the office hours being short. I'll tell you this... They work far past the hours posted. The "hours of operation" are posted the way they are because when they close at 2pm for example, there are still appointments being seen, there are still phone calls to be made, paperwork to be completed, etc. What I can tell you is that if you have an urgent need, you will be seen by somebody as a walk in. I was experiencing a pretty awful health situation recently. I called and Michelle said "just come in" I got there and Dr. T came out and shook my hand and said "Were going to take care of you". He saw the next patients in line and then I got in about 30-1hr after arrival (didn't make a difference to me). He spent probably 45 minutes with me, completed an ultrasound that was ordered (That was going to take another doctor 2 weeks to do) he spoke to me about what was going on, ordered blood work and was there for me 100% of the way. When I left it was about 6pm. There was still one patient left in the waiting room who he saw next. The office closed at 4pm. I have never been to another Doctor who cares for their patients like that and truly dedicating themselves and their lives to the craft. I have been to many doctors. There is no perfect doctor but what is by far the most important thing to me is not the waiting room size, not the wait, not the time it takes to get an appointment... what is the most important is that the Doctor cares about his patients, advises them like they were family and takes pride in their work. If this is what you're looking for, then Tenenbaum's practice is right for you. Even if it is with a PA, it is still an excellent level of care! My wife see the PA's there. It is no mistake that Dr. Tenenbaum is difficult to see / not accepting new patients. He is an excellent doctor and is well known and respected in the medical community. If you want the best, you gotta be patient... Having said that... Go find your own Doctor! ;-) read more

I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR DR TENENBAUM! A wonderful doctor and gentlemen who equally values being a good father and husband. He truly seems to care for my health, both emotionally and physically. I've come to trust and respect him on many levels. What makes Dr Steven Tenenbaum so unique is his vast and well studied knowledge in both traditional and alternative medicine. As my general physician, I feel very well taken care of, as he has a holistic approach with healthy and positive alternatives where possible. The office is small with a receptionist, and has somewhat limited hours. However, in my experience, they are very accommodating and often are able to fit me into his busy schedule when I have an urgent need, and I rarely have to wait more than 10 minutes past my scheduled appointment (how rare is that?). The medical building is very nice, and features a convenient lab (as needed), and a well-stocked pharmacy (with tons of gifts, too) on-the-premises. With ample free parking, this is the place to get fixed up when your ailing. read more

I've been taking my family to Dr. Tenenbaum for the past 7 years. He is an excellent doctor and a very intelligent, engaging man. I feel we have not only received the best, up-to-date medical advice, but he has advanced test equipment for scans and diagnosis right in his office for use as needed. In addition, he has gotten to know each of us personally, and takes a real interest in how our lives are going and how that may interact with any symptoms we have. I have been very pleasantly surprised at his level of involvement and attention to detail. I'm moving away now, and we will all miss him. I can't recommend him highly enough. read more

I'm done with this office after today. They are consistently late, front office staff mumbles and won't look at you or give you an answer when you ask how much longer it will be when you've been sitting in the office 35 minutes. Asks if you want to reschedule but this happens every time, so if I reschedule I will have just wasted the time I've spent here today because the next appointment they'll be late again. It's ridiculous. Today is the final straw because I actually called asking to push my appointment later and was told I could not. Well guess what, it looks like I actually could have pushed it at least 40 minutes later because here I am sitting in the waiting room 40 minutes past my appointment time with zero sign they're going to call me (or one of the other 7, yes 7 people in the waiting room with me) back any time soon. read more

I was so excited when my family found this doctor and was always happy with services despite the rudeness from the front desk when trying to book appointments. However, this last time I visited I needed a Tdap shot for my work... I was told over the phone in voicemail, and called to confirm to see when I could come in for this shot. I go in, say what i'm there for... get taken into a room, recurve a shot assuming it's the one I asked for. I went to a different doctor again for work to receive a TB test... when I was talking to this other doctor about all of the shots I've been having to get done she mentioned she believed I was given the wrong shot at Dr. Tennenbaums office. I called to confirm and Michelle laughed and said I clearly received TB and they don't even offer Tdap. Therefor there was clearly miscommunication... and the matter was taken so lightly. I talked to Dr. Tennenbaum myself and he defended the office and said I should be aware a doctor like him wouldn't give a Tdap test as if I should know. Last time I checked, when you ask a doctor for a shot they should be the ones aware of what they have and don't have... and certainly not giving patients the wrong shot. He also said that Michelle must have gotten Tb and Tdap confused.... again, pretty concerning I have zero idea of any medical stuff and yet in this situation I knew more than the people giving me care? Won't be going back, the entire situation was well worth losing a doctor I thought I loved. Don't want to risk ever receiving the wrong medication, treatments etc. and certainly not the carelessness and lack of remorse on their end. A simple acknowledgement of their mistake would have been more than enough. read more

As for one of the previous Yelps I always wonder why people with bad spelling and grammar would write a review. It just smacks credibility. I have been going to Dr. Tenenbaum for close to ten years. I have not ONCE had a problem scheduling an appointment or given any kind of runaround. The ease and stress-free scheduling as well as medical attention has made my years that I spent going to this doctor a breeze. Michelle is efficient and polite. Everyone that works in this office is professional. I am currently suffering dealing with a medical practice in Nevada so I know the difference between good and bad care. Nothing I ever experienced from that office was short of exceptional. No, you can't please everyone but as a patient for years I have the utmost respect for the doctor as well as his office staff. I will get on a plane and pay to see the doctor out of pocket than deal with what I have here. If you are going to write a negative review it's good to put down some facts rather than using adjectives which could look like a personal attack. I have no reason to speak so highly of this medical practice other than from experience. read more

Constant problems. The following is just the latest. Nothing has been easy about dealing with the staff at this office (i.e. getting refills, scheduling appointments, etc...). I was just there a couple of months ago and saw Dr. Tenenbaum for an appointment that I scheduled before he transitioned to concierge and that he said would still be covered as it was scheduled prior to him transitioning to concierge. We had some specific things come up as a result of that visit that he recommended I follow up on with another appointment that he assured me he would honor despite me not signing up for concierge. I just got a call from Madison that she needs to reschedule my appointment for next week that I scheduled weeks ago. This is the second appointment with Madison that she has called to reschedule/cancel. I expressed concern and said I was following up based upon Dr. Tenenbaum's specific recommendation at my last appointment. She said that her review of the records did not align with the concern that Dr. Tenenbaum said I should follow up on. I then asked why I needed to come if they have no record of the concern and/or Dr. Tenenbaum's recommendation that I return for follow-up. It is ALWAYS something with this office. Dr. Tenenbaum is a good doctor but the way this office is run is terrible. I asked for Dr. Tenenbaum's email so that I could email him directly to get clarification about his recommendation that I return for a follow-up appointment next week and Madison said that he only gives his email address out to concierge patients. read more

Just like how you hear her so upbeat and cheery over the phone is EXACTLY how she is in the flesh! Dr. Tenenbaum is compassionate, well mannered, easy to approach and speak freely with. His charming personality, holistic/healthy approaches make you feel very well taken care of and he always manages to make you feel better and/or put a smile on your face. This office is nearly impossible to contact. The front office is severely outdated, utilizing only one staff member, a paper calendar for scheduling, and limited information on its answering machine. My calls are often not returned. In addition, The front office gal lacks in customer service skills. I write this as both a patient and a former medical/dental office manager. 5 words: Dr. Tenenbaum saved my life. As someone who has had thyroid issues (hyperthyroidism and goiter) for several years and having dealt with endocrinologists who were less than stellar or made my condition sound not so dire, I found Dr. T. on Yelp. Based on all the amazing reviews, I went to see him. Dr. Tenenbaum is the first doctor (ever) to do an ultrasound of my thyroids. My thyroids were so large, it had misaligned my trachea so instead of an "i" shape, mine was more a "c" shape. It was enough for me to decide to have it surgically removed. The surgeon said that it was so large, the thyroid mass had grown into my chest cavity and what normally is a 45 minutes - 1.5 hour surgery turned out to be 2.5 hours. He also said that there was a baseball sized mass of thyroid perilously close to my heart. I went to see the surgeon post-op a week later. He said the pathology report came back positive for thyroid cancer. Albeit it was a small mass, there was still cancer on the removed thyroid. Fortunately, it's the least virulent type and I am under Dr. Tenebaum's care for follow up (to make sure that any thyroid cells remaining are not problematic). Without Dr. Tenenbaum, I would have gone about my life completely clueless about all the nefarious activities with my thyroids. Thank goodness I found him! Dr. Tenebaum is simply a great doctor. He is so incredibly well-versed in endocrinology and is the only one I've met who actually has an in-house ultrasound machine. His bedside manner is wonderful; he's caring, knowledgeable, and, as his patient, you never feel like he's rushing you out of the office. He makes time for you. Be aware that, because he cares about his patients and, therefore, spends the necessary time with us answering all our questions, his appointments sometimes tend to run late. However, one's life vs. waiting 45 minutes: No brainer. Dr. Tenenbaum is simply one of the best doctors I've ever met and I feel truly lucky to have found him. read more

My first visit with Dr. Tenebaum was today, and I have to say I've finally found a GP that I feel comfortable staying with long term. He listens, treats you like an adult, and most importantly takes his time--- you feel like you're an individual he's interested in knowing, not like just another patient meant to be pushed through the process. I had actually missed my appt because I had the wrong time in my calendar, but the receptionist invited me to just come on down anyway. Great doctor, and I've been to many doctors. He's the first doctor that has actually been able to answer my specific questions regarding cardiovascular health, hormonal issues, and a handful of other items. All previous doctors have been completely stumped (or just flat out wrong) when confronted with specific, scientific/technical questions. He's never in a hurry, actually listens, and devotes as much time as is required. Both my wife & I have switched to him as our primary doctor. While he is a GP, he's more knowledgeable about thyroid/hormone issues than any endocrinologist we've seen, and more knowledgeable about cholesterol/blood lipid levels/cardiovascular issues than my previous doctor, who was a cardiac specialist. As someone who has become extremely skeptical about the entire medical profession and pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Tenenbaum is a rare find. It's refreshing to find a doctor who doesn't just give you pills to take after talking to you for five minutes. I strongly suggest becoming a patient before his practice becomes too large to admit new patients. read more

As an RN, I've worked with many doctors, and am so happy to have Dr Tenenbaum as my doctor, knowing his style and care is similar to having a rare and precious treasure, especially in this era of medical care. Dr Tenenbaum is truly interested in his patients health and wellbeing, so each appointment starts in his office with nonjudgmental talking and listening. Working as a concierge RN, this type of incredible, non-rushed, medical care is most often provided by a concierge doctors, charging 3-5 times as much Michelle, the receptionist is always upbeat, kind, wonderful, and personable. It was actually because of her that I came to the office for the first time and met Dr Tenenbaum. When I needed care and learned my doctor had moved away, I went online and started calling every doctor near me that had good ratings. I had just about given up trying to get an appointment when I called and spoke to Michelle. Just the sound of her caring voice brought me to tears. She asked if I could come in the following morning, which I did. I will always remember the extreme kindness she showed me and how much it meant to me. Dr. Tenenbaum and his entire staff are amazing. He has made a huge difference in my life and I am beyond thankful. Not only does he truly care about his patients, but he cares about them as individuals, their family, etc... He approaches medicine from a holistic standpoint and always provides insight into what he is doing, why he is doing it, and what you can expect. Dr. Tenenbaum and Lynn are AMAZING. While I will admit the front desk can be difficult at times it's like getting into a good club or restaurant you gotta make it through the bouncer. I'd gladly sort through the front office delays to get the amazing care that I receive from Lynn and Doc. I have referred my husband and parents and we all are VERY HAPPY with their amazing care. Here is some back history.. after seeing half a dozen doctors each year for 10 years and nobody could figure out what was wrong with me. I thought there was no hope and I would be bed ridden for the rest of my life. This is a difficult thing to get through when you aren't even 40! Thankfully, I was referred to Doc by a friend of mine. While I didn't get to see him initially, Lynn called him in to consult on my unusual situation. Now I'm not saying they are miracle workers it has taken a couple years but I have my life back. But to be able to do things that I never thought I would do again is a miracle for me. Thank you so much Lynn and Dr. Tanenbaum for giving me a quality of life that continually improves. I would give 0 star if I could. it is not just because of the doctor but assistant or whoever answered my phone. I think her name was Michael. she was so rude... I mean I an hear she was eating something while she was talking to me ... I simply asked if they accept my insurance which usually the person on the phone will aswer. .she said... ahhhh I don't know why don't you put our doctors name in your insurance company's website...I said i m not at home and I don't have tool to do so ... will you tell me if you guys take my insurance... and she said same thing ! while she was eating something... so I said is there anybody can tell about insurance? she said maybe billing department? so I asked her will you transfer to billing department then... she said oh no , it is different number... and she said we accepting new patient anyway.... she was unbelievable.... how rude and uneducate person .. even they accept new patient I will not going there ! read more

I just visited Dr Tennenbaum's office for the first time and would definitely recommend him and his nurse practitioners! The office staff were very friendly and welcoming and I didn't even wait five minutes to be seen. I was seen by Lynn, a nurse practitioner, who was very informative and a great listener. I had just received abnormal thyroid results on a recent blood test and had yet to have certain questions answered. After physically examining my thyroid and performing an ultrasound, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease. I also, recently found out that I'm pregnant and they were able to put my mind at ease by setting up a game plan. read more

What a HOT MESS! I called the office which rolled over to an answering machine indicating you had two options 1) leave a message of 2) send a text to another number. Option 1 was not available as the message box was full so I text the number. In my original text, I provided my name, healthcare provider and who referred me. A few minutes later, a text was received indicating Dr Tenebaum was not taking new patients but a PA or RN was available. I responded back indicating a PA was acceptable and to schedule an appointment. Another text was received asking for my name, really?!?! Confused, I provided my name and you guessed it I got another response letting me know they do not accept my insurance. Perhaps, the first response should have let me know about the insurance instead of going back and forth for no good reason. If a simple thing like setting up an appointment is this difficult, I could only imagine the care follows suit. read more
