Steven is the best dentist I have ever experienced, and I have been to many! It feels like going to a family member instead of a dreadful office. His knowledge is so calming and he's got such a relaxed way of dealing with any procedure. There are no sales tricks here, no nonsense, no waiting, he remembers you, makes anyone feel relaxed, always entertaining and professional. Steven has that absolute level of confidence, he's done all procedures so many times he never fails and it shows. You wanna feel comfortable and rely on your dentist to do the best job possible. And I have never felt safe at a dentist before, but sitting in the chair here, there's complete trust because Steven never makes any mistakes. He talks you through it, is extremely thorough even though he's faster than anyone else. Even the part of filling and polishing the teeth, he does it like an artist. He really takes pride in his work and it shows, because whenever he fix a cavity, it's gone! And it's no sloppy edges or anything, he rounds off shapes and really makes it nice. He even noticed I had uneven chewing so he grinded my molars down, now first time in my life I can chew perfectly and evenly. I avoided going to the dentist for far too long, and was dreading having to come in. I had heard horror stories of dentists telling their patients that they would need multiple sessions of deep cleaning, so I was prepared for the worst. Luckily, Dr. Seldon was nothing like that. Dr Seldon and his staff are extremely nice individuals... But I have to say my experience with the office was probably the most terrifying dentist visits ever, and even the best dentist visit is not exactly a picnic with wine and cheese and cake. Everything about this office, from the building, the decorations, the patient chair, to the tools being used is completely outdated. Like, late 80's outdated. I had a cavity filled, and the instruments used to fill the cavity looked and felt like flinstone clubs in comparison to the instruments used in a modern dentist practice. I don't study or practice medicine, but I generally know that when filling a cavity, you want to remove as little of the healthy portion of the tooth as possible. I honestly don't think that type of precision-work can be achieved with 1980's tools no matter how deft Dr Seldon's hands may be. Needless to say, I learned my lesson after that visit - shell out the extra $5/mo to upgrade from a DMO plan to a PPO. The extra $60/yr today will surely save on root canal bills 20 years in the future.. read more

This man changed my life! I called to set an appointment for a cleaning. They were able to fit me in the next day. I arrived and Dr. Seldon performed the cleaning; the results were magnificent (I'd had pretty hard calcium build up on the underside of my lower bridge). As well, I had apparently been living with a poorly done root canal. Backstory: I got the root canal when I was 13 or 14. After a few years, I begin noticing signs of a problem -- and those problems were affecting the aesthetics of the tooth. To deal with it, I started habits like covering my mouth when I laughed, or speaking in such a way that the tooth would not be exposed. Anyway, Dr. Seldon was able to diagnose the issue with that root canal (apparently there was leakage at the base of the tooth that had dripped down into the main corridor of the tooth). Instead of setting me up with an appointment to retreat it, he handled it on the spot! (truth be told: I think it was because my case was a quite unique and intriguing, though). Anyway, I got out of the chair, and for the first time in 15 years, I was able to smile without feeling self-conscious about my teeth. Thank you, thank you, thank you Dr. Seldon! Oh: - His office is pleasant and quaint. I actually really enjoy the wall paneling throughout his office -- makes me nostalgic (in a good way). - His receptionist is pleasant and very helpful and informative. - Parking is out back. Not an issue. - I will say that he has a Dental Assistant (the one with all the tattoos) that is not as attentive as she should be. She once left me in the room with my mouth wide open for like 15 minutes. Expectedly, I begin to develop quite the pool of saliva in my mouth and was damn near choking on my own spit by the time she returned to the room with the suction cup. I rarely write reviews but I finally found a dentist I am comfortable going to. The last two dentists I went to were horrible and I avoided going for almost two years. One kept commenting on how tight my teeth were from braces and how hard it was to work on me because of my tight jaw without offering any suggestions on how to help it. Both pushed thousands of dollars of work as well. Dr. Seldon was thorough and personable and offered suggestions vs just admonishing me or pushing unnecessary work like past dentists. I really wish I had found him sooner but will be sticking with him in the future. His staff were very polite, they were flexible on payment and not pushy or rude. Dr. Seldon, is not only an excellent dentist, he is also a man of integrity. He has been my dentist, since the 1970s. He will NEVER suggest any procedure that he feels is not necessary. If he finds something that might improve your smile, for instance, he will suggest it and tell you it's not absolutely necessary. He has done everything from a simple cleaning, to a root canal for me, when it was needed. I trust him completely. His office is small, personal and professional. It is clean and completely modern. Wouldn't you rather have your teeth cleaned by a dentist, other than a hygienist? I have rarely waited more than 15 minutes, unless there was an emergency. He is a caring, kind, extremely knowledgable and gentle Doctor. Anyone who lives or works in the area, looking for a GREAT dentist, should most definitely give his office a call. You won't be sorry!! Yes, the place feels dated and some of the equipment may be from the 80s, but here's the thing - even though it's old, it's better. And so is Dr. Seldon. His important equipment and tools are all up to date. Unlike many other dentists these days, Dr. Seldon is honest - he will not just take X-rays or do work if you don't need them. Other dentists automatically take X-rays because they get paid by insurance companies. Dr. Seldon specifically asked me to bring X-rays from my previous dentist to avoid the X-rays. This is just an example. Most importantly, he's a great dentist. After moving to L.A. and trying 5 or 6 terrible dentists, I have finally settled on Dr. Seldon. Sure, the office can use a little decoration improvement and updating, but I don't go there to hang out. I went to Dr. Seldon after not going to the dentist for way too long. Even though I had a huge hole in my tooth (and it was quite painful) I had been too scared to go. However, when the pain suddenly got way worse... I no longer had a choice and started asking around for referrals, which is how I found Dr. Seldon. I've been going to Dr Seldon for over 25 years. He's a fantastic dentist and is great at his craft. If you can get past the outdated decor in his office, you've found a fantastic dentist. He actually cleans your teeth HIMSELF! I don't know of any other dentists who do that. They take all types of insurance and are very upfront and honest with costs. I really shouldn't be surprised that Dr.Seldon was recommended to me by two different people. I was having an issue with my current dentist (trust, mainly) and I really wanted a second opinion before I paid $500 for potentially unnecessary work. I easily made an appt with Dr. Seldon and went to see him last week. In addition to the consultation I set up, Dr. Seldon took X-rays (believe it or not, the ones I provided from my previous dentist weren't up to par), cleaned my teeth, and filed down a crooked tooth I've had problems with for years. As it turns out, I do not have half a dozen cavities like I was told by my previous dentist. Thanks to Dr. Seldon, I will not have to spend $500 dollars on filling cavities that don't exist. The office is inviting even if it is small and cozy. The staff are friendly and more than competent in their roles. Terrible. The entire time I was there, this dentist repeatedly made hard sell attempts to lure me into some shoddy procedure to improve the "cosmetics" of my teeth. Like a used car salesman, the barrage of sales pitches made towards me were both rampant and unwanted. It was, to say the least, extraordinarily unprofessional and unethical given his line of work. And to top it off, he tried to charge me an additional, exorbitant fee for the teeth cleaning that lasted all of fifteen minutes, claiming that it was an "in-depth cleaning". In truth, what he did never even approached that. Perhaps this dentist should brush up on what it means to be a healthcare provider, because clearly his greed has taken root in and has corrupted his sense of morality. Furthermore, after I filed a complaint against him, he tried to buy me off with a "refund check" of $5.00 which stipulated that his liability would end if the check was endorsed. Does this man not know shame? I will never again entrust him with any of my dental care needs. read more

I came to Dr. Selton for a cleaning and to look at a problem tooth. He discovered a massive problem that if it was left as is, I would be in a bigger mess. He took the time to explain the issue caused by a bad crown. We went right into a root canal which was not as bad as I thought. He took the extra time and with his skill, made my anxiety minimal. Now I have a plan and a future without major dental surgery. He is great - as long as you can look beyond wood paneling and old world charm. this guy was absolutely terrible, I will never go back. came in for serious tooth pain due to impacted wisdom teeth. the receptionist was well mannered and helpful, and after a short wait i was seated in one of the rooms. the first thing that struck me was that the office was under construction, and it clearly had been for a long time. when the dentist finally saw me he apologized for the work and explained he'd been doing some of it himself (?). Dr. Sheldon saw me under short notice due to the circumstances I described, intense pain and discomfort. He immediately went into my mouth with a probed brush through my teeth and gums, making me bleed. I told him politely that I was uncomfortable, he asked me [how much of a pussy I was]. after our short checkup he concluded that my teeth were fine and that I should only need a waterpik to clean the impacted area. So, if you'd like a "retro" experience- 60s fake wood paneling and a rude, brutish dentist with zero bedside manner- by all means go to this office. Please run from Dr. Seldon RUN.........everything Michelle wrote is true,his tools are from the 80's at best.To make a really long story short Dr. Seldom placed a bridge over a area that still had roots left when the tooth was pulled.Not only did is cause extreme pain for eight months is caused the need for two root canals from a bad infection the root tips had left.The infection spread all the way up to the cheek area,I had to have surgery twice to correct it.If Dr.Seldon would have some new tools like a x-ray machine that works this could have been avoided.When he took the bridge out the tools he used looked like a old hammer and knife. He chipped the back tooth so bad that my new dentist said he does not think it can be saved the tooth has a huge crack in it from the pounding he did.Now I need two implants and a new crown on the third tooth because the one he did looks like a two year old was playing with clay and stuck it in my mouth.The sad part of this is they are nice people,however he has to stay up to date in such a important field. read more

I have a very low tolerance for pain, which was no problem with Dr.Seldon as there was absolutely none. Two root canals and zero pain. I was amazed. He is the best dentist you will find anywhere.
