Dr. Cohen has since recovered and made considerable effort to engage me and make up for the previous experience.

There was real concern about increasing eye length and long-term vision loss, so seeing things stabilize has been such a relief. Dr. Aller is incredibly kind, patient, and easy to talk to. He never makes me feel rushed and always takes the time to explain things and make sure everything is done properly. You can tell he really cares about his patients, taking a proactive approach focused on long-term eye health. His expertise in myopia control and research in the field is clear in how thoughtfully he approaches care, always prioritizing prevention and long-term outcomes over simply prescribing glasses or contacts. I also brought my kids to him because of this expertise. One hasn't developed myopia so far, and the close monitoring gives me real peace of mind. My other child is on a tailored treatment plan, and we're hopeful it will help prevent or reduce the need for glasses. If you're looking for someone knowledgeable, caring, and truly focused on long-term vision health, Dr. Aller is the one.

I was booked for the earliest appointment and still had to wait over an hour to see the doctor. Then they told me that I would need to come back for a field test, since they don't do those at that office on Mondays, which was not relayed to me in advance. I went to their other office today for the field test, and they charged me the full copay, even though this was not my choice or fault and was part of my initial exam. So I paid $100 out of pocket for ONE exam! And now they want me to come back AGAIN to get my field test results and pay yet another $50? Seriously? Are ya'll here to help people or take our money? I'm going to find another doctor.

His careful, methodical evaluations have kept my vision (astigmatism, the obligatory asymmetrical myopia) and intermittent IOP elevation - well corrected, now for well over 3 decades. I brought my father here for his care, too. As a hypertensive diabetic gent with bilateral cataracts - my father's care was a bit more complicated. Surgical timing and careful watching with photography kept us all reassured that the care of one problem wouldn't interfere with the other. And my dad - who HATED going to doctors actually enjoyed seeing Dr. Gelbart. I think it was his gentle, familiar manner that made Dad feel comfortable and reassured. He saw Dr. G for 3 decades too, until he passed at 92. Now my partner sees Dr. Tam who found something i had missed on retinal exam at his first exam (well they have better equipment...) and is following him carefully as well. i strongly recommend Samuel Gelbart for your eyes. They'll be in good hands. His partners, too!

I had treatment for my eye disorder for 4 years with steroid drops and injections. Nothing was working, so I decided to take it a whole new level... I had decided to get a Vitrectomy on both my eyes that was performed by Dr. Mark Smith. It gave my normal eyesight back which was great! So now to Eyecare Associates.. My eye was extremely watery, hurt like hell, and I thought it was my eye disorder; and or an issue from the surgery that I had over 5 years ago.....? Heidi the office manager understood what could of been the problem and did not hesitate to get me in right away, and I mean RIGHT AWAY! I got to see the owner Dr. Gelbart who has by far one of the best bedside manners a physician can have! It turns out I had a scratched cornea and that it wasn't anything serious except for the horrible intense sandpaper feeling it had when I blinked. He hooked me up with pharmaceutical eye drop samples so I wouldn't have to wait at the pharmacy, and put me on a regiment that really worked to heal my eye. A + to Dr. Gelbart, Heidi, and his Staff!

My sister has been going to this doctor for her eye exams for decades. While I was still active…read moreduty Navy and away somewhere on some gray naval vessel, I remember getting letters from my sister and when talking of her (too many) doctor visits each month, she would describe her very pleasant interactions with Ethel, who is his very capable receptionist. My sister would rave about how she would be late for her appointment, and Ethel would still try to get her seen "on time". Now that I have been staying with my sister for the past few years, the appreciation and high praise for Ethel doesn't quit. On a previous appointment my sister had with Dr Cruciger, I finally had the honor and pleasure of meeting Ethel when I accompanied my sister up to the fifth-floor office. The office is roomy with very nice framed lithos decorating the wall. The chairs are NOT the usual chairs one would find in a waiting room for ANY doctor or medical facility (but not really comfortable). They remind me of bus station or airport chairs in which they serve the purpose but aren't made for comfort as one is not expected to remain long. In my little time in the office on different occasions, I have seen Ethel in action and she appears to do and know everything! It's amazing to see her effectively taking phone calls, receiving patients and answering questions to ease the wait period. What would Dr Cruciger do without her? She probably does about six separate jobs! I really wish all receptionists were as pleasing, knowledgeable and efficient as she. What I really enjoy seeing - and it reminds me much of Andalucia (SW Spain where I live) - are the many patients who walk in just to talk to Ethel, who must seem an angel to them as I seem to believe also. When I finally move from SF and return to Spain, I know I'll miss a lot of my hometown, and the memory of seeing Ethel at work will be among my few fond memories. Thank YOU Ethel; I don't know what my sister would do without you. You have truly been a friend to my sister for many decades, and it was great to finally meet The Ethel she speaks of and describes in such loving details. Oh, since I am NOT a patient of Dr Cruciger, the high and generous appropriation of stars and this review is solely of Ethel, who deserves such praise and more, but she must settle with this simple review only, to show my deep appreciation for what/who she is and has done over so many years for my sister. I only hope Dr Cruciger realizes the fantastic and irreplaceable office manager/receptionist he has and is giving her all that she deserves and more. Anyone with such talents as Ethel possesses, in any office, is priceless - one so loyal, intelligent, multi-tasking and efficient is NOT easy to find these days. She is a diamond among rocks. Ethel would be sought-after by many.

(I should have known! oh well - shoulda, woulda, coulda). Brave yourself to his office in Chinatown. Not the nicest of doctor's office, but when one of your eyes is blurry, you can't really see anyways. When his assistant took my eye-pressure, she took out this pen-looking thing and was poking my eye. I really wanted to cry out to my mom at that time. It was the worst 3 minutes I've ever experienced in my life. What happend to that neat-o machine that bursts some air into your eye to measure eye-pressure? Then she took me into the examination room. When Dr. Yee came in, he just finished lunch and was still chewing and gulping. When it was time for the slit-lamp exam (the one where you put your chin on the rest and a light is shined to your eye), he was closely examining my eye then... "BURRRP"!. HE BURPED! And he didn't even say excuse me! My experience from that point on went down hill. I tried my best not to inhale because I didn't want to know what he had for lunch. The rest of my office visit was a blur (pun intended!), but I'm sure as heck NOT going back. Dr. Yee may be a good and knowledgeable doctor, but he is definitely not for me.

How often does a doctor say "really, call me if you have any problems or questions"? Dr. Yee scores on both counts. Two other pluses: he's in-network for Aetna, and I was able to get an appointment in the same week. Two small FYIs: - His Chinatown office isn't posh. It's actually a leetle grungy on the outside. But if you work or live downtown it's super-convenient - If you're getting your eyes dilated, bring sunglasses. I didn't and they gave me a disposable pair ... but I would have looked a lot less dorky with my own
