Mautner should just retire already. He does not look at your teeth. Does not take xrays and then complains if he has to actually do anything other that pull your tooth out. If you want to be toothless then I recommend. If you have any questions about your teeth do not waste your time. Do not walk in because he will tell you that you have to come back when he has time. Last appointment is had was when i noticed I had what looked like a couple of gum line cavities. One week after he filled the cavity my whole tooth fell apart. See photo. Now I have to pay again for who knows. He does not care about his patients. His bedside manner is rude and he treats you like your dumb if you ask a question dental related. Was very disappointed with my first visit, it felt like assembly line dentistry. Dr. Mautner when he finally came into room seemed in a hurry to get me moving through the line, looked at x-rays and barley a minute at my actual teeth. Told him about my previous dentist (who passed away) about a tooth needing a crown and another that I felt lost some filling, response was open your mouth, he looked in and said both are fine without close examination. As I was dissatisfied with visit I found another dentist to review my concerns, tooth was in need of a new filling and tooth with crown issue was confirmed as it had a hair line crack which eventually would have broken off, but Dr. Mauntner would not have known as he did not really take the time to examine my teeth fully. Friendly staff and the doctor was informative and not pushy. Two things stopped me from going back, 1. The place is dirty! Garbage lid was dusty and this is during covid. Place looks like it hasn't been cleaned or painted in 30 years. AND 2. NO 6 foot distancing or even seperating people in the guest room. Every chair was taken. Most of my doctors have us wait outside or in our car if they have a small office. Please make these easy to do changes. read more

The woman at the front desk was not friendly. When I arrived for my first appointment, she asked me if I had reported my insurance or would receive a bill. No one had told me about that before, I didn't know and when I asked why they hadn't called the insurance, she told me that they didn't have a person to do that and in short, they wouldn't waste their time doing that because they have too many clients. I then left without receiving the service, it seems that they are not interested in receiving new clients or providing good service. read more

I came here as a new patient yesterday for a cleaning. The staff is extremely unprofessional. It took them 15 minutes to even acknowledge me in the waiting room as a new patient. They were carrying on about their personal lives loud enough for the whole waiting room to hear them. The doctor and staff were acting like they were at a social gathering. The man who cleaned my teeth was very nice and professional. He was the only one. After my cleaning they told me to sit in a chair to wait for the doctor. Another woman came over to do my X-rays. The entire time she was snapping her gum and acting like it was a huge inconvenience for her to have to take my X-rays. After, I had to sit back in the chair. Which is right next to the front desk. The doctor and staff continuously talked about their bathroom habits (I now know that one staff member goes to the gym at 4 am which also happens to be the same time the doctor takes his morning pee, ew) going out dancing and drinking, watching videos on their phones, etc. The dentist was also complaining about how annoying a patient he had earlier was saying he asked too many questions and it was annoying . I was extremely uncomfortable. Then when it was time for the doctor to look at my teeth, he acted like he could care less if I was at his practice or not. Took three seconds to look at my teeth and said "nice implant come back in six months if you want". No, I don't want to. Canceled my six month cleaning. I've never been in an office where the staff is acting like you inconveniently interrupted their social time. Do not recommend. read more

He was very unprofessional. He yelled at the dental hygienist and came out to the waiting room area and yelled at me because I did not want x-rays on that day. If he wanted to speak to me about his concern he could have pulled me aside and not embarrass me in front of the rest of the patients and staff. What is wrong with this man? Steven Maunter did a crown on me and in the middle of procedure states need root canal.{ the tooth was only for cosmetic] Two years later had a infection and Maunter wrote a prescription and was better. Always felt something wrong. Approximate 8-10 years later, My whole left side of face swollen to eye. Had to go to emergency room for strong antibiotics. Wait a week for swelling to go down. Went to my new dentist for xrays and was floor when he says broken drill bit off in that tooth root canal. Had to go to Endodontic for surgery and clean out rest of infection. My 3rd visit for a cleaning was still a poor experience. First visit, wait, wait, asked to meet doc, they didn't want to spend the time unless I had an issue. Second time, hygienist was very rough. I asked to see doc because of sharp, possible broken tooth. Over zealous doc ground down my tooth and gave me a bad gum infection. At husbands request to try the office again, I waited 1/2 hour sitting next to a patient in severe pain while 4of the staff stood around talking about personal issues. Because of me making a comment about the patient still sitting in pain to them, the hygienist sat me in her chair for 10 min before cleaning, did not say a word, spent 10 min. on a poor cleaning and plain water to rinse. Worst dental experience I have ever had! I had to have a tooth removed prior to an implant and I felt like the dentist was so hurried. He came in and gave me my Novocain injections so harsh and quick that I was shaking...I am a person and he acted like I wasn't even there. When he came back to pull the tooth he was yelling to a receptionist while working on me....there was no dental assistant with him and he even stopped to send a text. I could hear my tooth cracking as he ripped it out and said " ok its done, all set" the whole time I'm shaking like a leaf. I would never go there again! read more

I saw Dr Mautner for the first time last week. I needed a crown for a root canal that I had done in NY. I live in Florida, trying to find a decent honest dentist down here has not been easy. This Dentist has restored my faith! What a nice guy! He takes the envelope from me that I had from the NY Endodontist, looks at it and says "Cmon you need a crown" in a nice way. No BS no shakedowns, bait and switches.. he was a gentleman. He did the work gave me a temporary crown and I'll see him in two weeks, for the permanent one. I also need a implant or denture for a tooth on the front bottom. He assured me me that he will help me next time. His office is a bit unconventional, he takes emergencies and tries to help those in need, I see how he talks with each patient, I can see how much he cares about them. His office staff were nice. The atmosphere was laid back but professional. If you don't care about the office being a " fancy Shmancy" totally computerized work of art, and you want an old school dentist who cares about his patients, give Dr. Mautner a try. read more

Dr. Mautner does TERRIBLE work. Seriously, I have had the same filling he put in fall out twice. My biggest complaints are two things. A) He is a poor listener, and B) he works on patients like he is in a NASCAR pit. When I got my this filling done the first time, I tried to explain that it didn't feel as if it were in correctly. He said it needed to cure, but I knew it was off and sure enough, the next day, it fell out. I returned after making an appointment and still had to wait for over two hours to get in. Seriously, this office is rediculous. The manner in which the work is done here is done with very little respect to the client and solely done in a way to herd people through like cattle or an assembly line. For example, working on 4 or possibly more patients at one time going in and out of each room.. tell me how that is not a health hazard. Dentists that operate the way this guy does are the reason why most people dread going to the dentist. STAY AWAY from here, get better work done elsewhere. The work I had done here cost $2000 to repair. The whole point of going to this hack in the first place was to a) keep a natural tooth as long as possible and b) not have to spend as much money and go through the pain of having such bad work be repaired in the first place. Normally I do not preach on here but I would be doing you all a great disservice by not telling you what awaits you here. Granted, your mileage may vary, but keep I mind that your going into an office that literally is all about getting as many patients as possible with little, if any, regard to a patients health or well being. Steven Mautner is the most honest dentist I have ever met in the last 30 years. He will not do work that does not need to be done. He will not charge more than your insurance plan pays, even though every other dentist always does. When I go into his office I let him do whatever he wants because I know that he will not steal all my money. His office is always packed with patients because all his patients trust him like I do. Obviously you have to wait a while for your turn, but it is well worth waiting for him. read more

My mom went to Dr. Steven G. Mauntner's office for a check-up and he told her she had a cavity which needed to be filled. She'd never felt that there was a problem with that specific tooth before going to his office but had them fill it anyways because she'd trusted his advice. She began to feel pain afterwards so she went back to his office and now he's telling her she needs a root canal AND a crown. She had no problems or pain with that tooth before, which suggests that a root canal wouldn't have been necessary prior to the filling he completed. I was referred to Dr Mautner by my brother. I needed a filling and to re-cement my crown that I had for years but fell out (from another dentist) My wait for my 9am appt was minimum. My brother came with me. The In-house insurance is $150 you get free full exam w/X-ray & cleaning with ins plus all services are majorly discounted my re-cement $60 and he had to correct the bite, my filling was $85. They allowed me to be on my brothers plan for$100 instead of $150. The staff was super sweet. Now for Dr Mautner, he was extremely knowledgeable and cordial. After he was done with me which took abt 30 minutes & was totally pain-free, he even saw my brother (who didn't even have an appt). My daughter and I have been a patient of Dr Mautner for over four years and I have nothing but great things to say about him and his staff. I have had every type of procedure done from extractions to cleanings and denture partials done in his office. He is a great dentist. Very thorough and professional A real good guy. He was extremely patient with my daughter as well. She is not good with dentists but he made her feel very comfortable and for once did not cry from fear. We all know how we don't like going to the dentist but we both love going to his office knowing we are in good hands. He even calls you at home if you need his advice after hours which most Drs won't take the time to do! His staff is the sweetest group too. They are also very professional and don't rush you off the phone or out of the office. Always smiling and in good spirits. My daughter is actually going to dental school in college and said when she graduates she wants to go work for Dr Mautner. I was under Dr. Maunters care as he was my dentist for a few years. His lack of quality of work brought me to seek a new dentist. The new one had a lot of bad news of neglect of my teeth that I went back to Dr. Mautner and he said she was misinforming me. His staff claimed the other dentist was trying to just make money. I went to another dentist to get another opinion and the first one was correct. Dr. Mautner does bad quality work and doesnt even know when a patient needs a root canal. His negligence has cost me a lot more in money. I would not go here if I were you. read more

I thought I already left a review, but since I can't find it, I'll try again. I was referred by a friend who has been using Dr. Mautner for years and loves him. I had recently been seen by two other dentists: one of whom said I had 14 big problems and it was work they didn't do (county clinic) and the other wanted over $2500 for two caps that he said needed done RIGHT NOW, and that the rest of these teeth needed caps. That was all WAY out of my budget, as was dental insurance, hence my asking around. It was a 15-mile drive each way, but Dr. Mautner's office gave me an appointment in just over a week, and advised if I had an emergency to just come in in any morning. Showed up at 10:30 for my 11:30 appointment (I ALWAYS bring a book to doc and medical appointments), full waiting rooms with a few folks standing. Amazingly, I was seen at 12:15. The doctor actually LISTENED to my concerns, my needs, etc. and we devised a dental plan for now and the future. He did not try to up-sell me from what I needed for this cracked tooth, extracted it as I requested, and gave me an Rx for free penicillin. This is a very high-volume practice, and I was amazed that it was handled without a sense of being rushed or being put through a factory-like process. Friendly, smiling staff.
