During my initial visit, she spent time asking about my history and sent me out for blood work to determine what if any allergies I had due to recurring hives. She also prescribed some H1 and H2 blockers which helped immensely. Dr. Schoettler was very thorough during the visit, and also during a follow-up telemedicine visit. Her staff was very considerate as well. I'm receiving excellent care and highly recommend her.

I have nothing but good words to express about Dr. B and his Team at Southbay Allergy and Asthma. Dr. Buchsbaum has the best bedside manner. Every time I go for a visit, he takes time and listen to what I have to say. Will even repeat what I say to confirm what he has heard is correct and that he understands e correctly. He is very intentional with his words and plan of treatment and care. I have also been seen by NP, Christine Ahn in cases when Dr. B is away. Christine takes time to listen and does not rush the visit and I, as a patient, feel seen and feelings validated. The front office staff, Deana and Denise are always helpful. Wait time is minimal. Shout out to Clarissa and Nathan who always have a smile on their face and always helpful with this patient's needs and concerns. AND lastly BUT CERTAINLY NOT THE LEAST, I would like to make special mention and appreciate the Nurse, Marissa. She has taken time to walk me through the requirements in order for me to get approved for the much-needed Biologic medication - Xolair. She walked me thru the steps on how to get the medication discounted by Accredo and has called my Insurance Company to authorize the medication. This drug has dramatically changed my life and made living with my medical situation more tolerable. If you are on the fence about this medical office and Dr. B and his Team, please don't. Go ahead and schedule that appointment and be glad you did. I hope you get the same health care experience as I have and find this review very helpful.

We are currently in a very extensive program called oral immune therapy in hopes of desensitizing my son from tree nuts. There are not many practices in san diego that provide this regulated, treatment plan that has a strict protocol and staff at your fingertips at all times. The staff at this office is excellent as they cater to your families needs. They are always on time and professional while personalizing your child's needs in a safe and fun manner. They have a children's playroom at the office so your child can play while waiting for their appointment. We typically see the Nurse practitioner, Analisa who is absolutely amazing, a relatable mom who is very compassionate- and head of food allergies. She has given me her personal number and has responded within minutes anytime i have a question regarding OIT. She is very updated with top of the line research and evidence based practice and constantly consults Dr. Modena, to double and triple check everything. Allergies with children are a very frightening concept for parents and I can finally sleep at night knowing that my child is on the best treatment plan with the best Allergy office in San Diego. It's been 5 months since we called 911 and I can say because of Modena Allergy we have not had any more trips to the ER! I have high hopes for my child and hopefully getting to free eat tree nuts- one day.

It definitely would've saved me from taking an afternoon off of work. My daughter has symptoms but not as severe. We had a doctor there who was nice enough. He had pretty flat affect, which honestly don't think it really works for kids. I did request someone who works with kids and I got the general statement that all doctors there worked with kids, which honestly I didn't find super helpful. The doctor was fine enough, but would've appreciated if he was a little bit more expressive. He did ask questions, my daughter, which was appreciated. Maybe this is common knowledge, but just want make sure that people are aware that this place is really for the most of your food allergy. The office itself is very clean and modern. The waiting room has some biscoff cookies and some sparkling and flat water. It's all about the small things!

Dr Ziegner is simply the best. Due to my condition, I've unfortunately seen over 100 doctors in my…read morelifetime where it has stumped even the prestigious renowned doctors. I've been sent here and there on a wild diagnosis goose chase across the country. However, with Dr. Ziegner, she has finally treated me where I'm actually feeling better after 15 years of suffering. How did Dr. Ziegner get it right when everyone else could not? The answer is because she is a true doctor. From the bottom of my heart I am grateful and thankful that a physician like Dr. Ziegner is still practicing. Many physicians get caught up in the script written by the system or in their own special field. But Dr. Ziegner stays true to her profession and true to wanting to cure her patients with no other agenda. As I mentioned I've seen many doctors before. I will list the reason's why she is the best and part of the elite doctors out there. 1. Dr. Ziegner listens carefully. Yes many patients come in and do not describe their symptoms correctly but listening to patients at least is information you can use or not use. I've had a Dr. keep prescribing medication that gave me a bad reaction and never really listened always wanting to perform multiple tests. I also had doctor who kept insisting I had a brother which I do not and thought I was the crazy one. 2. She reviews medical history. Many doctors do not want to or are too lazy to go through one's medical history. You would think doctors would, but many do not in my experience. Doing a little more work early on can save you a lot of work later on. When you are sick and ill, it takes a lot of energy repeating one's symptoms. When I then used to write and print it out, they were too lazy to read as well. 3. You're not on the clock with Dr. Ziegner. Often with many specialists, you are on the clock. 10-15 minutes is all you have. How can doctors really diagnose you in 10 minutes especially for tough cases. My case required a lot of time and review. And I know she wasn't try to clock me and she took her own time to really think about what was causing my illness. 4. Her own testing is thorough. Her practice performed a few tests and everyone was so nice, knowledgeable, organized and the facility was clean. I'm glad I was able to have the test done at their facility. The key also is the right testing. 5. She has a wealth of patient history that is useful. I believe because she is sincere at what she does, she quickly can call up her archive of her patient history in her mind and use them to help figure out other patients. When doctors are just out of school, they will just go by the book. On top of seeing a truly great doctor, her practice Riviera Allergy Medical Center has been great as well. Setting up an appointment is smooth. Everyone who works there is friendly, tentative and competent. When I was really sick, it was easy to reach someone. I also have to say this office is the first place where I can access my visit summary in the portal. Bigger name practices can't even do that. The portal is very easy to navigate and works well. The portal is the most streamline that I've use. I can access my prescriptions, appointment history, billing etc with ease. Overall, I'm taking the time to write this because it's the least I can do. I've felt more normal that I have in 15 years. Time will tell if I'm mostly cured but for now... it's been lifechanging and hopeful. Thank you Dr. Ziegner!

The second office visit was not a good experience at all. I took my son for a blood draw at Lab Corp as requested by the doctor (6/28). She sent in the request directly to Lab Corp and printed out a copy as well. The results were generated by LabCorp on 7/1. I went to our follow up appointment on 7/15. When I checked in, the receptionist said that there were no test results available in their system. This was very disappointing since that was a major part of the appointment along with a prick test for environmental allergies. The receptionist asked me if I actually took my son for a blood draw. I was taken aback, but I confirmed that I did. I remember it because my 5 year old doesn't do well during blood draws and it's always a core memory for me. She said she would check on it. During the doctor appointment, the doctor also asked me if I actually took him to get his blood drawn. I again explained that I did, and the details around taking him. There wasn't too much to talk about without the results, so we moved on to the prick test. I don't think they work much with children because the process seemed rushed and I felt pressured to force my son to comply without giving him time to regulate his emotions to make the experience tolerable. He screamed and cried and we got through it. Then we were checking out and I asked the receptionist what I should do about the results. She shrugged and asked if I was sure if I took him to the blood draw. I told them I didnt appreciate being asked so many times. And they said they would call LabCorp. My husband followed up with LabCorp. Said the results were completed on 7/1 and sent to SB Allergy. They resent the results and confirmed receipt. I go back to SB Allergy to check after dropping off another sample at Lab Corp (located in the same building) and asked if they received the results. The receptionist said no. I let her know that I called LabCorp and they said they sent the results. She shrugged her shoulders and asked if I could just get the results from LabCorp myself and give them to her. I said no because I needed them asap for another appointment and LabCorp said it would take a few days to print and send via snail mail. I explained that I was confused because clearly the issue is with the SB Allergy front desk. She shrugged her shoulders and said she doesn't know. This paired with the constant questioning of whether I actually took my kid to get a blood draw just felt stressful and a waste of my time. I was pissed (sorry). I went back up to LabCorp and they told me to create an account online and get access. So I did and it was super easy, I printed the results and decided to go with another pediatric allergist. The receptionist called me back shortly after I left in a huff, and said she found the results and they were lost because my sons name was misspelled. Which is their error!!! And the whole time I was made to feel like this was my problem and not theirs. I don't appreciate being constantly questioned on whether I took my son for a blood draw and then having to be a liaison between LabCorp and SB Allergy the whole time because of their error. I know how to spell my sons name (just FYI) and it was spelled correctly at LabCorp... so I'm pretty sure SB Allergy is at fault. Now when this receptionist called me for the last time, she also defended herself and said that she called labcorp 6 times to no avail the day before. But then called within the 15 minutes that I was gone and got the answer right away. Seems sus to me! WILL NOT GO BACK. Probably don't take your kids here. Receptionist at the front desk is super good at rolling her eyes, shrugging her shoulders and misspelling names.
