Unfortunately, I cannot recommend coming to this orthodontist. Dr. Anderson is a nice guy, and the staff is nice and very accommodating as well. There were a few times where I was very late to my appointment and they still took me in and I was never charged any fees. So I give them props for that but unfortunately that is the only positive thing I can say about this place.
Dr. Anderson DID straighten my teeth, I can't deny that. But unfortunately since finishing my treatment I have had multiple issues with my mouth and jaw, and I now am seeing a new orthodontist to correct these issues. I paid a significant amount of money for my treatment, and it basically ended up being for nothing as I now have to wear braces AGAIN for 6 months to a year. The fact that I also have to pay MORE money to get this treatment fixed is infuriating to say the least. I feel like Dr. Anderson took advantage of me.
The issues started up almost immediately, where I could see that my lips were noticeably off center. Multiple people also brought this to my attention so it wasn't just me seeing something that wasn't there. Eventually, this issue did get less noticeable but my lips always remained slightly off center.
Since finishing my treatment, the biggest issues have been with my jaw. My jaw has been pulling to the right side of my face, creating an off center facial structure. This is really bad by itself, but the issues have not ended there. I often have had minor but consistent jaw pain when I go a day without wearing my retainers even though I was told I only have to wear them at night.
I also had a bizarre incident occur where I fell asleep one night and forgot to put my retainers on. I then had awful jaw pain for a MONTH where it became very difficult to open my mouth enough to chew my food. Dr. Anderson was of no help with this issue and told me that I needed to "baby my jaw" which did nothing. He did give me a different kind of bottom retainer to wear to see if that would fix the issue, but I found that this new retainer he gave me made the jaw pain even worse and it also felt less secure in my mouth than my previous retainer, so I stopped wearing it. Dr. Anderson claimed that this is just something that happens to people occasionally, and there were other nights where I forgot to wear my retainer and experienced no pain when I woke up the following day. Still, the fact that I had such bad jaw pain for a month and Anderson was not able to help me with it, soured my experience with him.
I was also given an excessive amount of retainers to wear. I received an upper retainer, a bottom retainer, AND a permanent bottom retainer. My new orthodontist seemed very puzzled that I was given a bottom retainer to wear when I already had a permanent bottom retainer glued to the back of my teeth. My new orthodontist even suggested that this extra bottom retainer could have been the source of some of my problems.
I also felt that I had to wear my retainers more often than I was instructed, and this was especially the case when doing any sort of heavy lifting such as working out. Whenever I would work out, I could feel my retainer literally struggling to keep my jaw locked into place. Often times after work outs, my jaw pulling and off center lips felt much worse and once again it felt like the retainer was struggling to keep my jaw, bite, and lips straight. Even when I would consciously try to put as little pressure as possible on my jaw when working out, I would still often feel my retainer struggling to keep everything in place for usually up to a day after my workout. Keep in mind I was never even told I had to wear a retainer when working out, this was just a realization I came to on my own when I noticed how my bite was starting to look crooked when I would work out without wearing my retainers.
Overall, I feel as thought my TIME, ENERGY, AND MONEY, were WASTED! I cannot recommend coming to this practice. read more
