We cannot say enough good things about Red M Studio. From start to finish, working with Marianne &…read moreSteve was an incredible experience, and hiring them was one of the best decisions we made for our New Orleans "not a wedding" wedding. I found Red M Studio through a Reddit recommendation from another couple who loved their photos, and after seeing their work, I immediately understood why. We wanted to support a small business, loved their aesthetic, and knew we needed professionals who could capture something intimate and nontraditional without turning it into a production. Leading up to the day, Marianne & Steve were incredibly organized and thoughtful. We had both a phone call and a Zoom meeting where they walked through every detail to make sure nothing was missed. They even used Google Maps to virtually walk us through the French Quarter and talk through locations and timing. That level of preparation made us feel completely at ease. Our original plan was to elope, but as anyone who tries to elope in New Orleans learns, that rarely stays small. What unfolded was a joyful, intimate gathering we lovingly called our "not a wedding." Marianne & Steve captured every part of it beautifully, from exchanging vows privately in our hotel suite, to wandering the French Quarter on Halloween night, stopping at the Carousel Bar, befriending a very determined French Quarter cat, and ending the evening with a private dinner at Arnaud's surrounded by our favorite people. They truly understood the assignment. The photos feel authentic, emotional, and perfectly us. Nothing felt staged or forced, and we never once felt uncomfortable or overly "on display." The final gallery tells the story of the day exactly as it was: warm, a little spooky, deeply personal, and full of love. If you're getting married in New Orleans and want photographers who are professional, intuitive, and genuinely invested in telling your story, Red M Studio is exceptional. We will treasure these photos forever.

Photos might have been the only "traditional" thing we did, but they were important to me and I am so very glad we found Kathleen! We got married on what must have been the hottest day of the year here in New Orleans and somehow Kathleen managed to make it look like no one was melting! We all met up in Jackson Square and she got our photographs with landmarks as well as street performers, all while letting us dodge in and out of various bars and businesses to take cool-down breaks. She was an absolute joy to work with, the pictures are absolutely stunning and I couldn't be happier with them! She charges a fraction of the average rate, has such cute and unique posing ideas and even better, instead of paying a fortune for prints, she sent us 2 CDs of the (retouched) images and we can print them at will! Both my husband and I have experience modeling and are no stranger to the camera, so when we say that Kathleen is great to work with, it holds water! I'm not sure what the next thing I'll need a photographer for, but whatever it happens to be, I'm calling Kathleen!

She graciously accommodated our request (she doesn't specifically list engagement shoots in her pricing sheet), and even cancelled a personal appointment to keep the shoot when there was a threat of rain at the original time we agreed on. We had a blast the whole time, and she even added an additional ten minutes (for free!) to the shoot because of the fun we were all having. The pictures turned out amazing. She has a great eye and gives good direction. I'd recommend her to anyone! Thanks Kathleen!

The photographer behind Twirl always suggests an excellent location and timing so you get magical photos. No surprise there: some of the historic photos published in the Times Picayune from the Katrina era were hers. Ditto some actors' head shots you may see in posters and programs for shows around town. She's even got a Pulitzer to show for it (the journalism, not the head shots). But enough about her background. You'll start with a dialogue defining what you want to come out of your session. Then when the time (and light) is right, meet up with Jenn for a dynamic photo session with a mix of carefully posed compositions and some carefree, "just look like you're running to the ice cream truck!" shots. It's busy but a lot of fun. Out of all that, expect some good choices for your album.

I don't know if he is a genius photographer because his unprofessional contract ultimately caused us to part ways. I was happy to engage him and we agreed on a family shoot. He sent the contract and it was riddled with typos and terms that were risky for any client to accept. For example, the contract indicated he would get paid even if he failed to complete the shoot and his terms also stated the client would sign over all rights to him for the photos and allow him to use the images in any way he chooses. When children are involved this should be redacted. I amended the contract to ensure both parties were clear on terms and I was sent 3 disturbing emails from Lee chastising my desire to change the terms and how he now feels " blocked" from being with my family. I don't know if he intended to obscond with our money or use our photos in a Way that would put or children at risk, but I would not advise anyone to accept and sign a contract that does not reflect both parties wishes and expectations. That is the point of a contract. Mr Henderson's lack of business acumen should be enough to give a prospective client pause.

While researching the idea, I came upon deBoudoir Photography. One look at their website and I was sold. They have numerous photo galleries, clear pricing, and an informative FAQ. I made my appointment online, with no hassles an eagerly awaited my big day. On the day of my "shoot" I prepared all of sexy lingerie, dazzling jewelry, and other assorted props that I knew would showcase my personality. It was fun to channel my inner Kate Moss and feel like a supermodel on the way to a gig. When I arrived at the studio, I immediately knew that I was about to be treated to a high end experience. The studio is a beautiful New Orleans home that is not necessarily converted into a sterile photography workplace. It maintains the charm and romance. I was greeted by Latoya and Skye who allowed me a glass of champagne while I browsed the lingerie display. I knew ahead of time that I wanted to purchase a corset and I was cinched into the perfect one! Once I made my corset selection, I slipped into a robe for hair and make up. Latoya discussed several options of how to style my hair and what make up would suit me best. The girl was amazing. My concern, as a girl who wears little make up, was that I would look like a clown. That was definitely not the case. It was as it she knew me for years and she created a sultry, smoky look without being harsh. When she was done, I was given to Skye, my photographer. She was a sweetheart and provided great tunes to move to. She knew what positions to pose me in to complement my best features and suggested different shoes, panties and jewelry to get the most flattering shots. Skye has a dynamic rock star personality and she made me feel like I was Claudia Schiffer. There were two staging rooms; one was sweet and dainty with pink satin sheets, the other was dark and heavy with black satin and a black velvet chaise lounge. We spent about two and a half to three hours in four different looks. Then we did a mini-session of "fine art." By this point I was ready for anything, and I knew I needed to experience the nude shots. What a rush! I was sad when it was over, but terribly excited to see the outcome. I scheduled my consult (photo viewing) for about a week later. There were several issues, which were my fault, with the scheduling; but it all worked out perfect because they were willing to work with me and reschedule me twice. All it took was a phone call and everything was reset. When it finally came time to view the shots, I was floored. I consulted with Valerie, and thank God she was there. There were about 150 images to choose from! I was like a vain girl in a mirror store! After about an hour of deliberation, Valerie helped me narrow it down to 12 amazing photos. She was very patient with my indecisiveness and displayed the photos in a way to help me make the best choice. This was a fabulous place and I recommend every girl unleash that bit of Cindy Crawford that lives inside us all.
