What you are guaranteed is fresh quality and wonderful, friendly service. To make life even easier, they also sell a range of herbs, butter, with a bread stall outside most days and the all important fish recipe book to look through.

Everything on ice in the shop is fresh and fantastic quality - almost every whole fish looks, feels and smells like it's still alive. The eyes are alive and clean, the smell is of the sea but not 'fishy', and the flesh has a nice bounce. There's a good, seasonal variety - with Colchester oysters, Devon crabs, Cornish bream and mackerel, clams, razor clams, sole - I could go on. There are of course the more unsustainable varieties such as tuna and cod, and while the shop claims that all of it is sustainable, I have doubts and have personally stopped eating both those species. With so much local sustainable types such as mackerel, farmed bream and pollock, who needs to eat the under pressure species? I find the staff here are friendly and helpful - always able to find you something for a recipe you have in mind, or vice versa, suggesting recipes for fish they have on the day. Prices vary depending on the market price - which is often influenced by what's fashionable in London restaurants - but you can get some incredible fish for good prices if you know what you're buying. Mackerel, bream and razor clams for instance all offer superb value. On weekends, typically the place is busy with long queues - but it's worth the wait. Get there early for the best choice, or late for the best bargains. My girlfriend and I were given a sack of mussels - enough for 10 - for half the price they should have been. If you like good quality fish, then this is the place for you.

When I was 20 I went on a study abroad program called Semester at Sea, and as you can imagine... seafood was on the daily menu for six months. After one month of eating the only non-fish alternative (peanut butter and jelly), I gave in. And I still haven't forgiven myself for wasting a full month not eating the most amazing, fresh, delicious fish I've ever had. The reason it was so fantastic was that it was sourced directly from local fishers at each port we called at, so mahi-mahi in Cuba, piranha in Brazil, skate in Cape Town... all the way around to king salmon in Alaska. My fish from Chelsea Fishmonger brought me right back to my earlier experience. So fresh, so local, so delicious. And most importantly, so ethical. I spoke with an employee for about 20 minutes about their fishing practices which involve, among other responsible things, only stocking fish caught by softer inshore non-destructive fishing methods. Now I'm not just upset about the one month I didn't eat fish on the ship, I'm upset about the 20 years I didn't know places like Chelsea Fishmonger existed!

Any yelpers out there who knows how to cook a nice decent Caribbean dish please drop a line and I'll come round with a fork in my hand. Caribbean Scene - Stratford is situated right in the heart of Stratford Circus. Very good location as it is right by the cinema, Stratford Royal theatre, The art centre and 2012 Olympic stadium. I've been there on a numerous of occasions for the buffet as it is the only Caribbean Scene in east London that does buffets. In the evenings a large plate cost £8.99 and £4.99 for a small plate but you cant have seconds with a small plate. You do have the option of going for the open menu although their mains and starters are quiet pricey. They have an open counter where the chef serves the food for you, so having to chose the amount of portions that you want is out of the question. They dont do take away's for the buffet so you'll have to lick the plate clean or you'll be £5 if you don't finish your meal. So choose wisely I got me curry goat, coleslaw, fishcakes, plain rice and the BBQ chicken. Quality of the food was good I was pleased with my curry goat and the coleslaw was so yum I had to go for seconds and by then I was already full! It's a one floor restaurant so its good for wheelchair users and place is hardly ever full. Very cosy, nice and clean and I love the built-in huts that adds the Caribbean Island touch, the LCD screen showing videos of the Islands and of course the soft reggae music in the background. Customer service was superb although some beg to differ I must be one of the lucky ones. There has been mixed reviews about Caribbean Scene -Stratford. I'd say give it a go and would love to hear your thoughts.

I know that dim sum purists will recoil at the thought of buying frozen but these are so cheap and so delicious I find it almost impossible not to.
