Previous psychiatrists I had before Dr. Oklan were nowhere are skilled as he is. Experience and expertise go a long way. I am stable and in great care in regards to my psychiatric needs, thanks to him. He listens well and uses what he hears and sees to make good judgement on the next step forward for me. 5 stars all the way. He's the best in the business.

For another patient, Oklan told me he prescribed 2000 mg daily, which is 1200mg over the safe dosage consensus. Both dosages were well over the 600 mg highest dosage tested by the pharmaceutical manufacturer of Seroquel. Since that time, I discovered that Dr. Oklan has received payments from the drug company for prescribing Seroquel since before 2014; averaging around $110,000 a year while the drug was still in patented form. My son committed suicide one year after being put on antipsychotic drugs alone. During 2013 through 2015, there was no suicide ideation or risk of suicide put on the drug information sheet, nor were we warned about this risk from taking the drug. I believe that accepting payments from the drug company strongly influences clinical decision making and is unethical and irresponsible.

Dr. Polfliet was probably the worst doctor that I have ever had the displeasure to interact with…read more Background: My wife that was going through a severe depression caused by PG&E who poisoned her via a gas leak. While the gas company was responsible, Dr. Polfliet was complicit in her passing through her actions. She catapulted my wife's already serious depression into a clinical depression that ultimate led to suicide. Here are the "low-lights": 1. Even though her website claims that she is open to alternative medicines ("East meets West"), she would belittle my wife who wanted to continue trying not only hard drugs but also allow her to use non-pharmaceuticals. My wife literally left crying after most sessions. 2. After only two sessions, she recommended a brain wave "TMS" treatment - experimental and of doubtful science at best - that would have cost around $30,000 for starters. She failed to disclose that her husband was the co-owner of this company and only admitted to it later: "Oh, I thought I told you". A clear case of using desperate people for your own gain. 3. After about 2 months of treatments, she told my wife in her session out of the blue that she will no longer treat her as she felt her case was too difficult for her (My wife called her outside office hours from time to time). This was the literal killer: Getting a psychiatrist is so difficult in Marin that it took us months to get to even her and she did not offer an alternative but just cancelled her services. I had to beg her to at least prescribe enough medicine so we can bridge the gap until we find another doctor. Only when I challenged her that she cannot leave us high and dry did she suggest a very poor alternative with terrible reviews. My wife was so shocked and depressed that her own psychiatrist would consider her situation to dire to treat...so as a consequence, six days later she tried to take her life as Dr. Polfliet, her best hope, just simply gave up on her without given her any alternative or any positive outlook. Dr. Polfliet was the last straw. Treating children with Ritalin was more her specialty and probably her sweet spot as her place was full of them. 4. To add insult to injury, Dr. Polfliet even submitted papers to the court (I sued PG&E) that my wife was just pretending because she wanted to get money from PG&E. My wife paid with her life - that is not pretending, Dr. Polfliet! It took me years to write this, but I just cannot remain quiet about the professional negligence of such an incompetent doctor. She triggered the death of my wife when she could have been her salvation.
