Writing this on behalf of my husband. In summary, we do not recommend as very bad communication (or the lack of it actually) and professionalism were experienced setting a very bad first impression, and this was just in trying to get through the first consultation. Zero respect for people's time. Definitely didn't feel we could even trust this place with our case when we couldn't even receive the scheduled consultation appropriately. Background: My husband contacted Stern Law earlier this week and was scheduled for his first consultation with attorney on the phone for Thursday, 8/21/24, which he was advised would be 20-30 minutes and was free as described in their website as this is his first call. We reside in California and rearranged work and responsibilities to be ready for scheduled time. After 6-7 minutes of not receiving scheduled call, my husband called and was greeted by a very apologetic gentleman stating attorney had an emergency and did not go to office for the day and he was eventually planning to call my husband to reschedule time with attorney for following day (yet, it's at least 10 minutes past scheduled time at this point with zero communication, close to end of business day East coast time, and only finding out because my husband called in saying I'm sitting here waiting on my consultation call). My husband decided to give them a chance, rescheduled for today 8/22/24 as offered and was told to go ahead and email his background check file in for attorney to review before call. So here we are again, re-adjusting work and responsibilities to finally receive the call on time this morning, 8/22/24. To our surprise the lady calling in states, "I am calling you to schedule your appointment." We were livid now. So apparently sounds like my husband called to schedule a consultation, was scheduled for a consultation, received a no show from attorney, was rescheduled for a consultation and finally receives a call to be told "This was just an appointment to schedule your appointment." We have been clients for over a year with several cases trying to prepare for our immigration hearing. The communication has been really bad but now even worse as they have merged with another firm, changed attorneys, new staff, etc etc. They have no idea who we are or anything about our cases. We had to call to remind them we had court in 2 days because no one was responding to us just to find out we had a new attorney!!! I think had we not called no one would have shown up for court. After asking for a face to face with our new attorney so we could actually meet her the best they could offer us was a phone call, which they never called. After rearranging our schedules there was zero communication about not being on time for our phone call that we had been waiting 3 weeks for. I get we are just a case number for you, but these are peoples lives hanging in limbo. If you arent interested in helping people that are paying you, why are you in this business? So far we have paid $27,000 with $14,000 still in pending cases. You would think for that amount of money you would be treated like a person instead of a number. Let me say, that this is NOT about the qualification of this firm (haven't had a chance to experience that), this is about my financial relationship experience with this firm. I was in a search for the lawyer for my immigration case and contacted Jessica Stern Law during my search. After describing situation they suggested to schedule conference call with the lawyer which gonna cost me $1000 and will be credited to my account. I price fished a bit more and suggested price for my case was 5-7k from several lawyers. I was contacted again and again by Stern Law and asked about my decision. For them give me an estimate I've submitted some of the documents and one of the employee suggested that for the case like mine it should be around 5k. And I thought oh well, prices the same everywhere, let me go with Stern Law because they already have some of my papers. So I paid $1000 and scheduled a call with Jessica Stern. It took exactly 1 hour and information she provided was basically the same that I've gained through my search and FREE consultations with others attorneys in Atlanta area. In the end of this call she said it will cost me $12000. Okay, well, I'm sorry. I was told it will be 5k, that why I paid 1k from the start. So we've decided that we will not be able to pay 12k at front and found another lawyer. I've contacted Stern Law afterwards with request of partial refund because we didn't proceed with their firm but it was refused. So if you have a spare $1000 to pay for 1 hour of work, go for it. Stern Law promised me that the case will be closed within a week and made me pay 4165$ , I am just a student, they misled me into paying the full money and later they said they have no control and can take up to 2 years, when I asked to terminate the legal contract with them, they intimidated saying they will charge me for reading my email too. And meanwhile the Police Chief got my case dismissed in a day. The Stern Law hasn't helped me at all and yet they have not still refunded my fees. They have been of zero help to me and ideally they should issue a full fee refund of 4165$. read more

I am a poor student who lost all her money to Stern law. I urged them to refund at least a portion of my fees 4165$ to me as they never helped me in my case and gave wrong timelines. When I was paying 4165$, they said they will get the case dismissed by the same weekend. I trusted them and later they said I shouldn't email for updates as it will take 2 years. I was later given a deal of 500$ refund if I remove all reviews, but they were so rude to me and didn't show any humanity when I struggled to remove a review quickly as my email account linked to Yelp was deleted. As of today, I got 0$ back and the case is pending with State Bar. read more
