I contacted all five of them for quotes and chose Shingler on the Roof. The first company that I contacted immediately assumed that the entire roof would need to be replaced, before seeing it. They went out to assess the situation and provided me with a quote that was far more than I had anticipated. I then contacted the other four and found a wide divergence between them, both in terms of price and presentation of their quotes. When I contacted Shingler on the Roof, I liked that Mark did not immediately assume the entire roof would have to be replaced. However, following a site visit, he determined that it was the original roof and it was showing wear. He sent me several photos so I could see its deteriorating condition. He determined that it should be replaced and provided a quote that fell in the middle of the five. He was patient and responsive to my questions as I made a final decision. Once I committed to the job, we met at the house to go over a preliminary contract. Mark explained that the cost could be higher depending upon what he found under the original shingles. He and his crew fit me into their schedule fairly quickly. Once they started the project, Mark kept me appraised of their progress on the job. As it turns out, there was considerable damage under the old shingles. Once again, Mark provided photos which showed the severe damage. I felt fortunate for the original leak because I could have had a far worse situation if the roof had not been replaced. Mark and his team did an excellent job and cleaned up the site after they finished. The roof looks great and I would highly recommend Shingler on the Roof. It was a no brainer to choose them. When it comes to the work itself, the craftsmanship was very good, the cuts are so clean and everything looks amazing. They did very fast work without sacrificing quality. The only areas for improvement I would say they could have are: - Communication during the days of the project, so you know without having to ask when they are coming, leaving, what the progress is, etc. - Ensuring when they put furniture and things back that they pay attention to things like hooking up HDMIs back to the correct places - Doing a better job of cleanup -- they left behind a TON of dust coating everything, sawdust in my basement that I presume blew in from leaving the garage entrance open where they were working, cans/water bottles left behind - Building in measurement/space for lower flooring to not leave a gap in the trim; they came back and did some caulking after I had a water/rain issue, but it still doesn't look as good -- I wish that their molding/trim solution filled the big gaps and I'm going to have to find a way to do that myself To their credit, they were very fast and responsive when I had a water issue and came back out the next day. I also had a crack in my basement ceiling where something pounded through or pounded the drywall loose from the flooring above being done, and they credited me enough money back to be able to have my handyman fix it. Overall, I would definitely use DFD again.
