I love sterling campus center. Although the rooms are a little small the safe, welcoming environment and staff make up for it. The appliances included in the apartment (washer/dryer, large flat screen tv, direct tv, dishwasher, stove, microwave, ac) are great and up to date as well as the furniture is nice and modernized. For a building that is not a part of on campus housing you could not find a better location. It is near everything and so convenient! If you keep your apartment clean, like adults should, there are no issues with mold or mildew. I have never felt threaten or unsafe in the building and I know if there are any issues including maintenance or just a question I can go down to the leasing office or file a work order and the staff will always help to the best of the ability. As long as you know the rules and regulations, respect and follow them you will feel right at home in this amazing apartment building. read more

This is beyond the worst place I've ever lived, and we were so desperate to get out we decided to move a month early and pay for both leases. Our HVAC would go out for days on end living here, and the management team would not call the necessary professionals to fix it until days later. Beyond being an incredibly noisy location, we felt very unsafe living here. Not only did the glass entry doors break constantly, but we had instances where men from the street would take pictures of us in our residence. Along with this, since the HVAC went out so often, we had severe mold issues and a mysterious fruit fly infestation that would never go away. We moved out a month early and left everything but the AC off in the apartment, and we just received a $165 bill for electricity. We were not present or using any electricity at all, and this is beyond the icing on the cake. Upon moving into my new apartment, my severe congestion and insomnia cleared up, and I believe we were actually getting sick from the mold. Horrible place to live and a huge scam for desperate college students looking for housing. read more

This is a great location for a staying in downtown Charleston. Located right off of King Street, this is the perfect distance from the CofC campus without having to hop on a shuttle or bus. Located right in the center of Downtown near all of the best shopping and restaurants, this is a great place to call home. The staff is great and very helpful. read more

Probably one of the worst/overpriced places to live in Charleston. Roaches are infested throughout the apartment, mold grows on the couches, and the dust build up is crazy. Moved in and the closet was already broken. Dryer did not work for the whole year. When you move out they will try to steal every dollar they can get out of you. Started ticketing people, who had cars lined up outside to move their stuff out. They also put unnecessary charges when they give final deposit statement. Had $150 dollar charge for a damaged desk then after emailing them they take it off, and also was told by employee I could put my trash out and they'd pick it up when I moved out and they charged me another $150 for that. One of the worst places you could ever live. read more

I lived at Sterling Campus Center last year and loved it! All of the staff is extremely helpful and nice. They were always willing to answer my questions or concerns. The location is prime for Downtown Charleston especially for anyone interested in or currently attending the College of Charleston. Definitely would recommend to anyone. 100x nicer than any dorms. read more

Sarah's dryer did not work for the entire year. Air Conditioning did not work during summer months but she received a 90.00 bill for July electricity. Maintenance broke a pipe and her bedroom flooded. That wasn't resolved correctly and black mold started spreading. Her apartment smelled so bad during June and July that she couldn't stand to sleep there. If you are thinking of renting here...keep looking at other places. read more

Sterling is the only off campus apartment building where you feel like you are living right on campus. The location is great because I can go from my room to sitting in class in 5 to 10 minutes. The office staff is always smiling and friendly, ready to go above and beyond with whatever I need. Maintenance responds in a timely manner and has always solved my problems. The campus gym is also located right downstairs, giving me no excuse not to go. I have certainly made the right decision to live here. read more

Sterling Campus Center Apartments not only are mostly good because you are close to campus and can workout. My only complaint is my loud neighbors. Other than that I am mostly good. Wish maintence would fix the stuff that they said they would. read more

Sterling Campus Center is great. The location and services provided, and the fact that it's a new building, definitely make up for the cost of living here. Even though the washing machines aren't great and the energy cap is slightly low, regardless I still feel like CCA is home. read more

Very expensive! They don't respond to maintence request timely. Once waited 1 week for hot water, 2 weeks for dishwasher fixed and over 1 week to fix AC. Unsafe environment for your student, read police reports. They also raise the rent on you every year you live there. Then for a graduation gift , after you have moved out and settled all bills & final electric, they decide they want you to pay for the new painting and turn your CHILD over to Hunter Warfield Debt collections without sending you the parent a bill. Claiming they don't have numbers or emails after 3 years. Save yourself the headache and keep looking! read more

Mold. Literally a garden of fungi growing in the bathroom, in the kitchen, the dishwasher, everywhere. The Office managers are very kind and all due respect to them, but iI beg of you, DO NOT live here. The Refrigerator actually broke and started leaking right before I wrote this, not only that but in the same week, the dishwasher (Been chronically broken for 4 months despite multiple maintenance requests) backed up into the sink and COVERED me & my roommate's dishes in mold. read more

Sterling campus center is a wonderful apartment complex to live at during your undergraduate years. It is very close to campus, the apartments are high quality, and the school gym is within the same building. The only common complaint is that because it is primarily a student complex, residents can sometimes get rather rowdy and loud on the weeknights and especially on the weekend. read more

Nicer than most of the dorm rooms, and more expensive, too. Windows don't open so ventilation is a problem. Since this was sold to out of town owners the back and forth about the account has become more murky (and refund checks can take months to arrive) so parents beware. read more

The windows do not open. The appliances (especially w/d) break so often. The staff is horrible, very rude. When there is an issue they tell you to just deal with it. For example: we had flooding and they told us to "put towels down" I would not recommend this building to my worst enemy. Do yourself a favor and don't live here!!!! read more

Horrible. My main issue is the lack of ventilation in every room. This problem is amplified with the inability to open windows. On top of all of that, the dehumidifiers DO NOT WORK, the humidity inside your apartment is essentially the same as it is outside. These problems of course lead to a horrible mold problem that I have in my bathroom. I have to clean it every week, and the sink is so clogged with mold it takes hours for it to completely drain. This is not a unique problem to my unit either, everyone else seems to have this problem as well. I've contacted the staff here 3 times and they have done absolutely nothing. This place is flat out unhealthy to live in and is looking forward to a class action lawsuit. Oh, and it's exceedingly overpriced. My suggestion is to live anywhere else. read more

roaches, cold showers, missing furniture, bad AC, broken appliances BEFORE move in. my washer/ dryer had not been working since 2 months after I moved in (it was not drying my clothes even after being on for 5 hours) maintenance must have come to fix it 6 times, but then it started to make my clothes smell terrible. i had to put them in a trash bag bc of the smell. finally asked for a new washer/ dryer but they refused. I've had a temperamental washer/ dryer for 5 months now, most of the time not drying my clothes and occasionally making them stink. sink was broken before move in, as was the fridge handle. I was missing a headboard for my bed like the advertise and like my suite mate had. AC in my room barely worked, had to leave my door open to make my room cold. sometimes even on the hottest shower setting it was still cold. had about 10-15 roaches in my room over my lease. only thing saving CCA from getting less stars is that the maintenance and people working in the office were always nice and pleasant. also a great location, only a few minute walk from all my classes read more

The apartments themselves are nice, and the distance to campus and downtown is really the main selling point, but I would not recommend these apartments to anyone. The maintenance staff is very nice and quick, but the office staff are awful. They range from incompetent to flat out rude, and the longer you live there the worse it gets. They were very helpful and attentive leading up to my signing a lease, but after that they disappeared. Any questions that I had received different responses based on who you asked. They take advantage of the fact that most younger college students haven't lived on their own, and don't know any better. If you do decide to lease from here, go in knowing you are going to have to be very aware of what you are being charged for and be actively engaged as much as possible. Never before had I experienced adults that were so outwardly rude and condescending, especially to someone who was paying to live in that expensive building. read more

This is one of the worst places to lease at. I have a whole list of things that I have never seen at any apartment complex that I've stayed at. My boyfriend and I where forced to write a positive comment and five star it on google reviews. It's over priced for what utilities are in the apartment. No kitchen storage at all. We had to go to the leasing office at least every month for something breaking. The washer/dryer SUCKS, it washes one small load for 7+ hours and it breaks every 3 loads. Our whole apartment had black mold all over it we tried to get out of our lease because of the black mold but they wouldn't allow us to get out of our lease. Also our whole floor had a flee problem for a couple months and I had a service dog who had medication every month and we still got charged $550 for flee control and so did our neighbors. Let's talk about the maintenance men, they will come in on us when we are about to shower or changing and they'll walk in without our consent. There has been two deaths from falling over the railing and one person lived from falling over the railing (from what I have heard and seen I could be wrong) because they are way to short my boyfriend is six foot tall and the railing goes up to his waist level. They constantly have a cop standing outside of the complex giving college kids tickets for being drunk trying to get home by walking or by getting dropped of by a cab, 0/10 do not recommend. read more
