The staff here is wonderful and helpful and kind. The girl working the front desk offered me a sample of their spring honey, which is very light. I loved the floral notes and bought some of it. I also bought a regular jar of honey with a squirt bottle. I take 1 teaspoon a day instead of allergy shots so it needs to be local to Lee's Summit, or very close to be effective. Of course this high-quality product costs more than the cheap stuff at the grocery store, but it also works better, tastes better and supports a local family and their employees right here in our town. I will save pennies elsewhere.

This review is for the visit my sister and I made Thursday, February 26th. ^_^…read more She, her son, and I went strolling up and down downtown Lee's Summit and this adorable little shop was one of many we poked thru during that visit! It was by far my favorite one from that outing! The park there was really nice and pretty too by the way. Even though we weren't in the shop long, I fell in love with it instantly, and made me feel nostalgia for some shops that aren't open anymore. Their little tea wall filled my heart with joy. Teavana was a company my loved ones and I proudly went to for years before it was bought-out and absorbed by the Starbucks company over 10 years ago. So there were qualities about this little shop that reminded me of Teavana. I already want to return to Messner Bee Farm in the near-future to begin trying some of their products and teas! Especially their teas!

He had me at Habanero and Jalapeño raw honey!…read more I cannot recommend enough this place! I've always wanted to buy raw honey, because I've heard of how delicious and healthy they are for you! Jalapeño Honey: very spicy! Sweet and spicy honey can go with anything! From drizzling it over baked salmon at the last minutes of cooking to putting it on top of biscuits! Habanero honey: definitely more for people that can't take the heat, but just want a tid bit to satisfy their spicy craving! I will also definitely come back to try out their essential oil soap's because they smell so good and some of them actually even have raw honey in them. The owner and his wife own a farm and I love love love love that all their products are 100% natural. Owner is super friendly and very knowledgeable about his products and OMG I forgot to mention they even sell farm fresh eggs! They own different types of chicken so they look like Easter eggs because each egg looks different with patterns and colors! We bought the jalapeño jam and habanero raw honey today but we will definitely come back to try out the other types of honey and soaps!

The store is not too big, but has everything you would want that's made from their honey. Our main reason for going was for the 5 lb. honey. Was in the hood for other business, came looking for some high grade Pu-ehr tea, which I walked out with (smells a little like dirt, earthy big flavor, high in caffeine, great for your health). But wait, what's this, some super delicious crystallized ginger to put on vegan soups I make (but I'm not vegan). And then some huge grain, white sea salt with a fabulous, mild taste. What a great find, because salt is an essential and can be the star of a meal when used properly. Service was first-rate. I was waited on by three different people in the space of about 10 minutes and each had their own expertise to offer, seemed, and appeared to really know their business. So in short, if you're looking for all kinds of spices, teas, herbs, oils and other things I probably missed that you'd expect, they likely have it, and I'm keen to explore more of their offerings in the future. Dedicated parking lot shared by a couple of other businesses, right off the corner of where Main Street turns West to head towards Westport. Great spot, glad I found it.

I have hayfever really bad, so I figured it couldn't hurt. Now I live in Seattle and I keep threatening to switch to Washington honey but something in me just won't let me fly away from the hive. I love the way this stuff tastes. I know it's honey and it should taste the same, but not all honey is created equal. I don't know what kind of hoodoo they put on the bees to produce such great honey, but I can't take my tea without it. I would pick me up a bottle every few weeks from the organic farmers market in south KC and now I'm hoping to get some through the Internets.

They also don't use chemicals and stuff in their bee 'pharming', so this all gives their bees a better chance at the bee colony collapse thing, and makes their honey a little better for the bees and everyone. Anyhow, they sell the stuff at the Minor Park farmer's market, and on First friday's at Bad Seed in the east crossroads. Check em out! The competition for local KC honey is not too steep, so 5 stars until this place gets flooded with beeswax (city hall not included--ha!).

Great bargains can be had here, but you can also spend money on produce that you will be throwing away very quickly after purchase if not inspected thoroughly and used ASAP. Make sure to carefully inspect the ripeness / color / texture / firmness of every object and open those packages of berries; there can be hidden mold on many products. There is a reason things are marked down so cheap; preparing a dinner for that evening - go for it. Stocking up for the week - think twice. My favorite bargains are when avocados are 4 / $1 or flats of bananas are $3. A great way to overindulge on some tasty guacamole (get the seasoning next door) or a cheap healthy treat for the office staff. If I lived in the neighborhood, I'd visit daily and knock down my grocery bill by 75%.
