Unfortunately, Dr. Kraus has passed away. Based upon his reviews, I was hoping to become a patient. Very sad.

Wow. Thanks to Dr Kraus' compounds, I'm now acne free. I wanted to wait a while to see but it's been 6 weeks and the times when I would usually get a breakout, I haven't experienced any! In the past, I've tried prescription pills with awful side effects and eventually I stopped taking them and decided to just live with my skin. During my visit, he looked at my face under some sort of light and quickly diagnosed my issues and he offered me options depending on my lifestyle and outcome I needed. He told me what he would try and tbh, I was skeptical because I have suffered from shitty skin since I was a teenager and I was certain I would have to deal with it for the rest of my life as it seemed like nothing worked. I have been using the compounded products diligently and as instructed and I'm happy to say, it's working. Evolutionary!... He mixes his own compounds for Your skin issue. There is no one size fits all mentality. Visits to Dr Kraus are now a family affair. My sister began seeing him several years ago and now he is my dermatologist and also my neice. This is significant because of two factors. One I have been to many dermatologist over the years and two because we cross two states to see Dr Kraus. I wish I could give him 100 stars. I have seen dermatologists all of my life for eczema. Within the last few years my skin was getting worse. I woke up some days with my entire face swollen and red and I was in incredible amounts of pain. The many dermatologists I saw all told me it was just an extreme reaction to my already present dog and cat allergies. This was unbelievable to me because I've been allergic my whole life and the reactions are always hives and trouble breathing. I finally got fed up with doctors telling me that it was out of my control and that's when my father found Dr. Stephen Kraus. The moment I stepped into his office I felt a little uncomfortable. He is not the most talkative doctor, but he knew exactly what he was doing! He immediately suggested a patch test and within two weeks he determined a list of chemicals that I have developed allergies to. Common chemicals that are in body lotions, clothing, jewelry, and even feminine products. He then prescribed me a specially made face wash and lotion that was specific to my skin and my problems. It's been 11 months and that horrible eczema that made me never want to leave my room and face the world has not returned. I am eternally grateful to Dr. Kraus for making me more confident and more comfortable! I would recommend Dr. Kraus to anyone with skin problems. He's an incredible doctor. I have since moved to California, but I will continue to travel back to Atlanta to see Dr. Kraus. read more

Absolutely love Dr. Kraus (and his staff)! I've never had any issues and so thankful that Dr. Kraus is an expert in this craft. I started going to Dr. Kraus, it seems, at least 5 years ago. Never had acne as a teen but it seems as soon as I turned 30, it made up for what was missed in my teen years! OTC meds would work temporarily but were not persistent. I would have huge nodules, redness, soreness, and of course, embarrassment. A friend/co-worker of mine always had flawless skin. I asked her what she used, she referred me to this facility/Dr. Kraus and it has been awesome! Appointments are in and out (unheard of in the medical field typically); he prescribes formulas that are unique to your specific skin care needs and boy do they work! He definitely knows his stuff. I'd stopped going for a while because my face had done a 180. However, I did start going back this Aug (2 months ago) and today my face is smooth, clear, and acne free! Feels so good... If there were a way to put zero stars I would. Let me start at the beginning: I went to Dr. Kraus a few years ago to get treated for hyper-pigmentation... that's it. Now most compounds are not covered by insurance companies and I guess that should have been my first red flag. Kraus has special made compounds that don't list any ingredients and are mailed out by Concord pharmacy. The fact that there is no type of ingredient labeled should have also tipped me off. He prescribed me with some of his special face wash, a spot treatment, and a face cream. He also prescribed me some pills but I didn't feel right being stuck on that type of medication for the rest of my life. So after about a week, I stopped taking the pills all together. The spot treatment, definitely faded the dark marks on my skin, however it also faded my skin color. As well as the wash and the cream. Sort of like white washing. I wasn't sure why that was part of the process since I didn't mention anything about not being satisfied with my complexion. Next, after using his products (only his products) for about 2.5 to 3 years, I couldn't afford the compounds at a certain point so I tried to stop using his products all together. I figured since my skin was cleared up I could get by without it. Days after not using his products, my skin began to swell, there was apparent Rosacea, burning and itching of all sorts. I though maybe I had done something wrong, so I began to use Kraus's face wash and cream, once again, to help the pain and discomfort. After one day of use, the symptoms disappeared and that's when I became skeptical. When I first started using Kraus's formula, I was about 17 or 18. I did very little research and I just wanted my skin clear. Big mistake. After testing out the same steps: not using Kraus's formula for a while, my skin had the exact same reaction and there was nothing that could calm the pain or the breakouts. I went back to a review that I found (on here) that was posted back in 2013 and there was a young woman who experienced the exact same withdraws, by using Dr. Kraus's products. But it was only one review so, of course, I didn't take it seriously in the beginning. Now I realize I should have taken it very seriously. Luckily, she pointed me int he direction of a dermatologist who would help get my skin un-addicted to Kraus's products. The most evil part about this is, Kraus knows what his products do to people, they create a dependency so that you can't stop using his products after you've used them consistently, as directed. He sort of reminds me of the movie Catwoman and how their products were toxic and addictive as well. Even his own staff know and they stand by the practice of not telling people the risks. I asked one of the women who assisted me on my visit to Kraus's office (while he wasn't in the room) if she had heard anything about what I had experienced. She warned me to use his products "very scarcely." Dr. Kraus uses a very strong steroid in his products and whether or not he does it on purpose is not my main concern. If you're ok with being addicted to a steoid, that's your business. However, my main concern is him not informing people that they will likely become addicted to his face washes and cream's. This is the worst type of practice because we put our trust in "professionals" like Kraus, only for them to betray us. As long as he collects a profit, he is not concerned. So please be very careful when reaching out to this "dermatologist" for skin consultation because in my experience, I left with more problems than I arrived with. Parents, do not send your children here. My mom always apologizes to me because she told me about this doctor, after our other doctor told her about him, but if either of us had known the truth about this practice, we would have never taken interest. Had I been an informed adult, I would have never ever gone here. The products of his that I have used have broken down the layer of my skin and are pretty much poison masked as a benefit. I am going through the process of "reversal" now (which could take from 6 weeks to 3 months) and it is tough but it's only the beginning for me. I really hope that this post can save some people the pain I went through, as well as the woman who experienced the same reaction (that I know of.) Because that's what she did for me and she's the only reason that I've found a solution. read more

Wow. I used to refer all my friends here, but I have learned the hard way. I started seeing Dr. Kraus in 2013. I'd had my first child and we were going to try for our second later in the year. He recommended that I do accutane after we had our second child. In the meantime, he prescribed compounds that cost a pretty penny as they weren't covered by insurance. But I was hopeful. The compounds broke me out (at around $60 each), but the face wash was pretty decent (at around $55 a bottle). Once I got pregnant with our second, he'd already had it listed on my file that I would have the pregnancy-safe wash. Great. At $65, it was pricey, but worth it. After I had our second child, he again prescribed the same compounds (yes, the ones that broke me out before). I told him this. He said we'd try again. I broke out. $120 down the drain. So then I went on accutane and that's when the trouble started. Each month you have to do an office visit ($55 co-pay with my insurance) and blood draw in a separate office ($45 a visit), plus the accutane (dose varies between $100-$220 a month on the dosage amount). So it was expensive. The medical assistants/nurses would forget to call in my blood work results. No one would call me back. I was having a bad reaction one week and Dr. Kraus was out of town- I couldn't get anyone to call me back until I finally called their practice manager. It was so infuriating, but it would have taken so much work to change the government accutane registration that I kept going to Dr. Kraus until the end. (I will also note that one time over the summer I was in for a 7am appointment and the nurse left the full chart of appointments on the computer in front of me while I was waiting in the room It had every patients name that day and why they were coming in just sitting on the screen in front of me. I was horrified to think that my name was also up like this for other patients to view. I've never seen anything like it.) As we wrapped up accutane, I asked about just basic retin-a that would at least be somewhat covered by my insurance. He insisted on his compounds (yes, the ones he makes all the profit on), and I reminded him that his compounds keep breaking me out. And at at $60/compound, I was over it. He wouldn't write one for generic retin-a as he would only write his compounds. I never had it filled as I was done flushing money away on products that line his wallet. Fast forward to the final straw. I visited him twice (8/27 & 9/22) as I was finishing accutane and BOTH times we discussed that I would be on birth control for 3 months until we started trying for our third child. He said he was sending over the pregnancy face wash to have on file so that when I did get pregnant, it would be ready to go. I got pregnant and called in to have the prescription filled. The pharmacy said that they didn't have it on file. The nurse called me around 9:10 this morning and said I had to come in ($55 copay) for the pregnancy face wash prescription. I told her about the prior two appointments where this had been discussed. She saw it in my file and told me that they should honor it, but that she didn't think he would. She also told me I was the SECOND person this has happened to lately- where a prescription wasn't called in like it was supposed to. The nurse informed me that she would explain what he'd written in my chart and call me right back. I never heard back from her. Called later and left a voicemail. Once again, never heard back. The level of unprofessionalism as IT IS IN MY CHART is unreal. I am done. Basically, this is insane and I feel like I am beating my head against the wall. I will go back to one of the other wonderful dermatologists in Atlanta. ETA: After reading the negative reviews on the practice page, I called and left a voicemail with Sharon Williams to voice my concerns. Sharon never called me back and the only thing that resulted was that the nurse who was supposed to call me back finally did. Nothing was resolved. I do not recommend this doctor. read more

Dr. Kraus knows what he is doing! My son's eczema was getting so bad I didn't know what to do. I traveled from Kansas to Atlanta, Georgia just so I could see him. In one day I started seeing improvement in my son's skin. If my family has any skin issues in the future I will be going back to Dr. Kraus for sure. read more

Dr. Kraus is the first dermatologist I have ever gone to in my adult life who offered treatment that provided REAL RESULTS. I have only been using my regimen for 8 weeks and counting, and the before and after pictures I have up until this very moment have been dramatically different. It makes me a little emotional, because I have struggled with acne scars for over 10 years, and honestly I thought that this would be something I would just have to live with. I have been seeing Dr. Kraus for a year for acne, scarring, and knuckle pads. He is by FAR the best dermatologist I've had in all my years (and I've seen a few without good results). Within a couple of months of using the prescribed compounds so many people were commenting on how my skin had cleared up and was glowing and looked so healthy. I also noticed this. I stopped having breakouts almost immediately and haven't had any since. My knuckle pads are what they are. Aesthetically there's nothing you can do to change the skin color back and I understand that BUT the cream Dr. Kraus prescribed me made them softer, more flexible, AND they at least blend in better now with the rest of my skin. I was going to post some before and after photos but before Dr. Kraus I rarely, if ever, took photos without makeup. Now I freely take them without makeup. I love the freedom and I feel so comfortable. I've never felt rushed with Dr. Kraus. He has always taken the time to listen to all my concerns and answer any questions. I have been going to a Dermatologist since I was a child. Dr Kraus is the first Dermatalogist that understands my skin. The first time I visited his office, he said you have sensitive skin. My last visit, my face was so broken out from the sun. I also showed him a picture of my chest being broken out every time I grill out at my parent's house. Dr Kraus did the 2 day allergy patch on my back. Years ago I was tested for allergies at the allergist doctor and he said I was not allergic to anything. I am allergic to 8 different things since Dr Kraus tested me. Dr Kraus has a website where I put in a code to determine if the products I buy have the ingredients that I am allergic to before I make the purchase. Dr Kraus prescribed new facial wash,moisturizing, and an antibiotic. I went back to Dr Kraus two weeks later and he was an awe to see how my skin had cleared. My mother(69was so impressed by my shin in the last two years from going to Dr Kraus until when she went to Dr Kraus, she said I want my skin to look like my daughter(age 51). I highly recommend Dr. Kraus for Eczema. My husband had been going to him for a couple of years and had received great results. We had our son about 10 months ago and when he turned around 3 months he started with Eczema really bad. His pediatrician prescribed a standard oil for him and had us use washes/lotions for sensitive skin & without fragrances; however, it wasn't working. Around 6 months old, he was still wearing the baby mitts to keep him from scratching as the Eczema was still bad. We were trying everything until my mother kept saying we needed to take him to a dermatologist. My husband suggested Dr. Kraus as that's who he went to; so we called and they start taking babies at the 6 month mark, which was exactly how old our son was. I took him for the appointment he looked him over and automatically knew what he needed. He prescribed a custom body wash, body oil and ointment which was made from custom compounds according to each patient's specific needs. I got the prescription filled, the cost was expensive about $160 for all 3 items, and of course insurance didn't cover it, which I don't know why, especially for a baby as it's a necessity not just cosmetic. I started using it on my son the next day and within 2 days his eczema was all cleared up - it worked wonders! Since that day he has not scratched nor has he had any flair ups. It's amazing how the combination of the body wash, oil and ointment worked so well and that out weighs the cost. My son is a different baby now! We continue to use the wash and oil daily, but the ointment not as frequent and only really when needed for when his skin gets irritated.
