I am a medical doctor with 50 years experience. I am prostate cancer survivor and have prostate…read moreenlargement. I have been under his supervision for over two years. He has tried to pressure me to perform a prostate biopsy because my PSA continued to rise. Prostate enlargement will elevate PSA. PSA does not reliably diagnose cancer. My annual Prostate MRIs never have shown any return of cancer. He never discussed starting me on medication to reduce the size of the prostate and to lower the PSA. Another Urologist immediately put me on finasteride and my PSA normalized. Nowadays doctors make much more money doing biopsies than office visits. That is the business of medicine. Two friends recently had prostate biopsies at the same clinic instead of a safe prostate MRI exam. Fortunately, neither biopsy showed cancer. However, one nearly died of sepsis from the biopsy and the other has MRSA prostatitis for the rest of his life. Both complications were completely avoidable.

This is a good and amazingly well educated - check his bio - urologist if he will actually see you…read more More likely, he will push you off to a physician assistant (PA), whose education and experience pales to his, like he did to me - but same cost per visit to you with most insurance plans. Basically, every time I saw him, his attitude was, 'why are you wasting my time, you could see a PA for this'. Before I moved to Reno from a larger town, I saw multiple urologists for the same reasons I saw Dr. McCormack (kidney stones), and none of them dismissed me or urged me to see at PA instead of them. Also, in the years I saw Dr. McCormack, he never once performed a DRE. I received DREs from prior doctors at a younger age annually. And annually from my new urologist in Carson City. Check the standard of care, this may not meet it? PS - Urology Nevada is horrible and worse than Dr. McCormack, of which he is a part and presumably a decisionmaker and part of management / ownership, so he has to take responsibility for the poor service of everyone who works for or with him here. See my separate review on Yelp and see all the horrible Yelp & Google reviews written by other patients. Also, you have to fight with the front desk every time because they will auto-book you with a PA instead of with Dr. McCormack for your next appointment. YMMV if you have other issues deemed more serious than a history of kidney stones, which may possibly be what he prefers due to being more lucrative or other reasons?

Overall several treatments, I received STEM cell and PRP's/HA ( Hyluronic Acid) injections and am up and running again! I highly recommend him for any of your regenerative medicine STEM Cell or PRP injection needs to avoid having invasive surgery. He is a doctor you can trust with over 45 years as an orthopedic surgeon replacing thousands of joints ( hips and knees) in his old life. He has continued to innovate his renegerative medicine methods over the years and helped me stay active . So, wouldn't you rather have an stem cell treatment or PRP injection rather than a joint replacement? I commute from Sacramento to Reno for his treatments and his prices are the lowest I have seen after talking to over 20 doctors. He also does provide phone consultations for free and will be honest about whether or not he thinks he can reallly help you! If he can't, he will recommend a good surgeon that can help should you need a joint replacement. Thank you Dr McClish for keeping me active!

Conveniently located less than a mile from house. Unfortunately, he had to fill out all the paperwork before even being seen by the provider..and he couldn't access his medications. To me ( the minus one star) because with my provider, the technology of Epic (My Chart).. makes me a loyal patient.. and all the info would be right there.. I ran over to Safeway to get a list of his meds. Ran back, and the staff let me back in to barge in on his appt.. Dr. Has good bedside manners, and seemed to be attentive to the conversation. I am writing in regard to my experience as a post-operative patient of Dr. Anthony Michael…read moreSciascia, II, MD (License No.: 16951), (Dr. Sciascia for future references), an Emergency Physician with Renown Health Systems. The following link will take you the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners where you can enter his last name and review his previous medical background and training (https://nsbme.mylicense.com/verification/Search.aspx). Earlier this week, I had the misfortune of interacting with Dr. Sciascia in one of the Emergency Rooms (ER) associated with Renown Medical Center. I have never come into contact with such a rude, condescending, and offensive health care provider. I should note that I, too, am a doctor and Federal Law Enforcement Officer, so I deal with difficult personalities on a daily basis. I would also like to note that I would never treat any of my patients, no matter who they are or what they've done, the way Dr. Sciascia treated me. This is unacceptable, and I intend on bringing this to the attention of anyone who may come into contact with this physician, someone who should not be allowed to treat patients. When I went to the ER, I was two days post-op, and in a considerable amount of pain. As I previously mentioned, I was unlucky to have Dr. Sciascia pick up my case. From the first moment I met him, there was something odd about his demeanor and he had the worst bedside demeanor I have ever witnessed. My friend that accompanied me to the ER said the exact thing, and she actually picked up on this vibe before I did. As an aside, all of the nurses were flabbergasted by my account of what occurred during my interactions with Dr. Sciascia. Long story short, Dr. Sciascia essentially accused me of drug-seeking, and told me that he didn't believe that I was actually experiencing pain, despite being 2 days postop. Dr. Sciascia was literally trying to instigate an argument with me, which I refused to engage in. He compared to me heroin addicts, which I am not, as well as misusing my pain medication, which I did not. Dr. Sciascia then compared me to other patients he has seen with "broken bones sticking" sticking out of their skin and that they refused to take any medication at all. First of all, I dislike being compared to other people, especially when their injuries are not even close to what my surgery or pain entailed. As a man, Dr. Sciascia does not know how painful certain 'female conditions' can be, so it is extremely rude to dismiss as if it meant nothing. Dr. Sciascia invalidated the pain I was experiencing, and I refuse to let anyone treat or speak to me in such a manner. Prior to being released from the ER, he informed me that I was going to be prescribed Gabapentin, a drug with which I am familiar. Gabapentin, also known as Neurontin, is a medication used for neuropathic pain, not postoperative pain. I asked Dr. Sciascia how that would be helpful in my situation, and he literally said, "I don't know." My friend advocated for me by asking for something that actually helped me, and he switched it to a muscle relaxant, which I refuse to take. I am unfamiliar with that medication, and I have lost trust in doctors in Renown's ER. More than one nurse I came into contact with during my several hour stint in the ER informed me that Dr. Sciascia "has a really weird demeanor...[and] has no bedside manner." They said more, but I hope you get where I am coming from. I will be taking this to the medical board of NV, as well as any site on which a review can be posted. Dr. Sciascia caused more harm than good, as I was extremely upset when leaving the ER, and I was still in pain. Given that I have only had one experience with Dr. Sciascia, I cannot comment on his overall competence as an ER Physician, and it would be unethical of me to do so. I can only speak to my personal experience with Dr. Sciascia, which was so horrific that I will never return to that ER for fear of coming into contact with him again. I am writing this review in hopes that others will read this and steer clear of Dr. Sciascia, if at all possible. If you want to be treated like a human being, find another doctor. Further, as a doctor myself (not an MD), I am a strong advocate for those who may not have the knowledge, access, or resources to go up against a physician. This is NOT over. Thank you for reading.

We were so frustrated, however I am glad that Dr. Sciascia (pronounced "Sha-sha") was able to treat him. Although the ER was incredibly busy that day, Dr. Sciascia made an effort to find the root of the problem without pushing him to have unnecessary medications, labs, etc. He suggested some over the counter meds we could purchase, gave us a prescription, and referred him to an allergist. Most importantly, he took the time to answer all of our questions and check on him before we left. It was the most efficient and caring ER visit we had. Plus, he's hilarious and super personable. Highly recommended!

You never know what you'll get with him, sometimes he's paying attention and a nice guy and sometimes he's a completely different person. He pushed and pushed for me to do all day Ketamine treatments that didn't do anything. When the time came to move from Reno to a major university hospital in another state for treatment, he cancelled my very last appointment and when my father went in to pick up my prescriptions he realized that my prescription for the Fentanyl Patch (which I had been on for years) wasn't there. My father was told that this was the doctor's decision and when my father asked if he could speak to the doctor, he was rudely told NO and that THIS WAS THE DOCTORS DECISION! Then my mother called and asked "why aren't you titrating him down slower?" But she was told the same thing, NO! So, not only was I being transported by car to another state (which caused me incredible pain and suffering) I was also going through withdrawals at the same time...thanks to this cruel, vile man. Please think about this if you're choosing a pain doctor!
