Katie came recommended to us by a friend who had booked her for his wedding a year prior. She was fantastic from the get-go, even before we officially signed her on as our florist! At our initial meeting, she asked lots of questions, looked at our inspiration photos, and most importantly of all, she listened. I love peonies, which unfortunately are out of season in September when our wedding was, and after meeting with multiple florists who told me that we'd have to change our vision, I was beginning to lose hope. Katie was the only one who listened to what we wanted and came up with a creative solution so that we could get a similar peony-like look with alternative, in-season flowers. She showed photos at our initial meeting and then brought samples at the subsequent meeting, and after seeing her ideas in person, we were sold! Katie and her team offered a level of service that the other florists I'd looked into couldn't even compare to. Not only did she provide rentals in the form of the circular arch for our ceremony, glassware for the centerpieces, and LED votives for the tables, but she and her team also flipped all of the arrangements used in the ceremony during cocktail hour so that they could be repurposed for the reception. This saved us a lot of money, and also resulted in the reception ballroom looking incredibly lush with florals. Her pricing was also much more competitive than the other florists, even without taking the repurposing into account! As a result, her value simply couldn't be beat. The day of the wedding, I saw my bouquet and the ceremony arch and they took my breath away. Every piece from the smallest boutonniere to the flower girl wreaths to the cake florals and the centerpieces were absolutely stunning. She and her team nailed it, and if I had to do it all over again, I would sign her on in a heartbeat. If you are looking for a wedding (or anything!) florist who knocks it out of the park with her designs and creativity, is the best value around, and is overall a fun and spirited person to work with, look no further! I was so in love with all of Katie's florals for our wedding! We had several people ask us who our florist was because they also were impressed with Katie's designs and artistry. I had the best experience hiring Katie for our wedding. Based on her Instagram, I knew she would bring color and creativity but she really blew us away with her highly unique custom designs, everything from the bouts and corsages to the bridal bouquet, centerpieces, sweetheart table garland, etc. She used many unique flowers that we had never seen and she was extremely creative to bring in colors that are hard to find in nature to match our color schemes and theming. In addition to her stellar arrangements, she was an absolute pleasure to work with in terms of the planning process, from meeting via video and in-person to discuss our vision and to preview her draft designs for us with real flowers. She also requested inspiration photos during this process and was able to use her expert skills to pull together cohesive arrangements based on our (non-expert) requests for color, look, and feel. Delivery to our 2 locations was impeccable and on time. A huge plus was that she listened to what we were looking for regarding our budget and it was easy to communicate with her as she's very down to earth. As a bonus, I was surprised to discover that she did not use the usual foam blocks for the centerpieces as most florists do when arranging inside a vase -- this meant that people could take home and change the water in the arrangements so that the centerpieces would stay fresh for a long time after the wedding -- Katie has SKILLS that she could perfectly arrange all the stems WITHOUT foam blocks and they would not budge inside the vases. Very disappointing experience with the owner as well as the front desk. We are so glad we dodged a bullet here and didn't end up booking this place for our wedding. The owner was beyond rude & got frustrated any time there were questions on her process or even had minor alterations on her contract. The experience already started off on the wrong foot when the front desk assistant, Sarah did not pass along the message to the owner that I had called inquiring about wedding florals after taking down all of my info. Over a week later, I proactively called & spoke to the owner. She sent over a quote fairly quickly, which we needed to alter to fit our budget... she altered the budget fine. That was great but she made a very snarky unnecessary comment saying "if you have an issue with everything we do, you can go somewhere else?".... Who says that?!! The only other issue I had was that they didn't reach out to me for over a week?! And instead of taking ownership of their lack of response, she tried to deflect it on me? After that she sent us a contract without the price written on it. I sent her an email asking her if she could incorporate it. No response, so I called. The front desk assistant, Sarah picked up again and said the owner was unavailable. I explained to Sarah that I needed the price to be included on the contract, to which I could hear Katie in the background talking to Sarah telling her what to tell me...Why would she say Katie is unavailable if she was there. Then Katie finally comes on the phone and says "we are unable to include a price on the contract. It's subject to change".....how can I sign a piece of paper that doesn't include the price of the services? What a joke. Do yourselves a favor and hire a professional, especially for a wedding. Someone who understands client management & relationship building better. read more

Katie is one of the nicest, sweetest, warmest people you will ever meet. My first meeting with her was on a Sunday at her Redondo Beach home, and even though you could tell she was extremely busy, she was relaxed and spent an abundance of time creating with me. Her prices are competitive if not cheaper than most, and you can tell she really is passionate about what she does for a living. When choosing a florist for your wedding, I think it's important to see their past work that they have done at your venue and also if your venue recommends the florist. If you are getting married at La Venta, Katie is just down the hill and has done countless weddings at La Venta, so I knew I could trust her as a vendor. She also was creative with helping me cut costs and re-purpose florals to save money. My only minor critique is that I am a big e-mailer and she is not, but she or someone at Stems is always reachable by phone during their normal business hours (and I hate talking on the phone at work! haha). read more

Oh and may I mention that I approached Kate to do my wedding 3 weeks before my wedding. I wouldn't recommend that to anyone but she was willing and so helpful in my crunch for time. When I met her for my consultation, she and I vibed immediately and she understood me. I am not very good at explaining visual things with words but she was able to pull from what I said and propose some great designs. Our budget was a little tight but she was able to work with it. My husband and I would like to thank Katie for the amazing flower arrangements she and her team put together for our wedding at Verandas Beach house in Manhattan Beach. Katie was recommended by our photographer Meredith at Zoom Theory. When I first met with Katie she was very professional and has great communication skills. I felt very confident in her ability to create exactly what we envisioned our flower arrangements look like. The next time we met she took some of my ideas and brought them to life with samples of what the table settings, boutonnieres etc. would look like. She gave me some suggestions but really listened to what my vision was. The ceremony flowers were just the right touch to help create the atmosphere for special moments. The mason jars with flower arrangements along the isle seats and the large arrangements at the ceremony front area were beautiful. The flower girls had a great time carrying their baskets and throwing out petals and the boys enjoyed carrying the single rose. The center pieces for the tables during the reception were exquisite and complimented the design of the tables. Our sweetheart table looked awesome with just the right amount of beautiful flowers Upstairs for the entertainment/lounge area, the succulents in the glass containers with the blue light were perfect for the lounge feel, just like we had envisioned. Our wedding cake was very tastefully decorated with the periwinkle flowers. Our boutonnieres,corsages and bouquets were very tasteful, not too big and not too small. The color popped with our white tuxes as well as the black dresses and tuxes that were worn by our grooms-maids and groomsmen. We heard many of our guests complimenting the flower arrangements and wanting to take them home. We did give many of them to our families and later saw them sitting on their dining room tables and coffee tables for decoration. We would recommend Katie and her team to anyone that wants beautiful flowers to add to their special day, she delivers exactly what you envision. She has been a great pleasure to work with. If I could give this spot six stars, I would. I first learned about stems several years ago when my girlfriend used them for a wedding and I was enamored by all of the unique flowers she was using for her arrangements. I know absolutely zero/zilch/nada about flowers, types, etc but her colors and selections had me blown away. I have recommended her for numerous weddings of friends and each one has been completely satisfied with the beautiful work done by Stems. I live in El Segundo so with Stems being a good hour drive away (with traffic, which is always in LA) I try to get her services as much as possible. Sometimes, I will even have my mother pick me up some flowers and meet her half way, lolz. It's a mission, but totally worth it! read more

This place is awesome! The shop is adorable--little more than a nook tucked into beautiful Malaga Cove Plaza, but the proprietor, Kate, works magic despite the shop's diminutive size. Kate is a florist with a real passion for what she does. Not only does she love flowers and working with them--she also loves working with people. My boyfriend got me a gorgeous orchid from Stems for Valentine's day--Kate helped him to pick out something that I would love. It was nicely potted with moss and some lovely greenery. He also got me a bouquet for my birthday--she worked with him to pick out things I love in my favorite colors--blue and yellow. And since he had to pick it up the night before so he could give them to me on my bday morning, she put individual water tube/bud vase things on the ends of each flower and gave him a bucket so he could keep them watered and fresh overnight (whilst hidden)--this is the kind of stuff that shows that Kate really goes the extra mile to make her customers happy! read more

My husband ordered me flowers for Valentine's Day. He saw the positive reviews for the wedding flowers so he thought it would be a safe bet. Maybe it was because it was Valentine's Day and they were busy, but my flowers (tulips, hydrangeas, and greenery) arrived looking beautiful, however I noticed a few of the light pink tulips were very opened and looked like they would lose their petals after 1 night. Upon further inspection, I noticed all the greenery to be severely eaten by bugs. I ended up taking the arrangement back to the shop to be fixed. The owner replaced the tulips along with the damaged leaves, but we will not be using this florist again. read more
