The dishes are inspired by Swedish, American, and Asian cuisine, all really well put together and with a Gotland touch to them, but without going so far that it becomes fusion food. An appreciated detail is the nice smell coming out of the kitchen, which heightens the anticipation for the food but is not too intruding so it's quickly forgotten that it's there when the food actually arrives.

The customer service was good, and the breakfast was very nice (big buffet breakfast in two different locations in the hotel, one where you can enjoy breakfast outside). Our room was quite nice, comfortable, with a good view. This probably goes without saying, but having a car in Visby is a pain! We had one because we had driven to Visby from Fårö and needed our car for some attractions and a dinner outside town. The website said we could find parking information by clicking a link, but it didn't work. When we popped in to ask about parking, no one was there, so we found parking on Google Maps. It was nearby and quite affordable (at least by US parking standards), but I wish there had been better communication about where guests who have a car can park. Still, it was a nice hotel, with a nice bar for drinks and a very good breakfast.

We recently stayed at this hotel. We had two sea view rooms …read more The hotel is beautiful but the service of the hotel not so good. During our stay we had a shower that was clogged, a sink that was clogged, and a toilet that was leaking. The clogged drains were fixed but the toilet was never fixed and we were told that the toilet was old and this could happen, but no one knew if the water coming out of the toilet was clean or dirty, and apparently all the plumbers were on vacation. Also the tv in the room was broken and out for service.(kids were not happy) This was one of the rooms; in the other one we could not close the doors but a nice guy from the kitchen came and changed the hinges. We emailed the hotel owner after the first night but no answer ! At checkout we asked for some refund since we had not been able to use the toilet in one of our rooms (the rooms are 4000 / night so not cheap). She said no and gave us some books instead !! This is a very different and beautiful place but the service of the hotel was the worst we ever experienced in a high end hotel. Restaurant was great and well worth the visit.

We started with some Gin & Tonics (the Gotlands Spirits Barrel-Aged G&T was particularly good). Then we had their ramp soup and carpaccio of Swedish beef for our starters; both were very good. For our entrees, we had Wallenbergare (minced pork with cream and egg, and served green peas, lingonberries, browned butter, and mashed potatoes) and Biff Rydberg (made with Gotland beef tenderloin, potato croutons from Buters Eko, butter-braised onions, egg yolk from Gandarve Farm, and mustard cream). Both entrees were very good as well. They had a great wine list (I had a glass after my G&T), and the service was great, too. Overall, the restaurant and the meal were beautiful and classic and traditional. I'd have sat longer and more to drink (or checked out their Gin Room) if we hadn't been exhausted by a long day of touristing around Fårö and Visby!

Vi gick till restaurangen innan trädgården själv öppnas, men jag föreställer mig att atmosfären skulle känna magisk när den gör det. Hur som helst, att inte inkludera en vegansk rätt verkar vara förlorad på 1980-talet (på ett tragiskt sätt). Allt var helt okej och vinet smakade underbart. Restaurangen har enorm potential och den kan fortfarande behålla sin gamla skolans vibe medan att erbjuda nååååågot för dem som inte kan svälja djurmisshandeln. Sammanfattningsvis är det lite löjligt att att ha en trädgård men inget växtbaserat att äta. Ginrummet låter dock fantastiskt!
