I was recommended to them by a friend, and I found their customer service whenever I phoned really helpful. They have a great website and ordering system which is really easy to use. When I placed the orders, I did it through a program called Loxley ROES which is free to download, but I now see they offer online ordering which looks like it would be even simpler. Their options for delivery are really good as well - Royal Mail, courier or collection from them in Cumbernauld. I did have a slight hitch with some Royal Mail postage but that wasn't Loxley's fault. And when the first photos I ordered were too low resolution, they phoned to let me know rather than post out sub-standard photos. I'd definitely use them for all my photo printing needs in the future.

When I saw opening for Autumn weekend sessions at a great price I messaged Angela to secure a spot. Communication was prompt and answered all my queries. Nothing I hate more than when someone doesn't read my query properly and gives a half hearted answer. We agreed a date and I made a secure payment via bank transfer. Angela's communications were friendly and professional which built confidence for us. Her work really does speak for itself when you see the pics on her Facebook page. I especially love the fact that the images are yours to use once she's edited. In October, particularly in Scotland, the weather tends to be wet. Angela suggested venues/locations and also pointed out to consider weather. We eventually decided on the Winter Gardens in the People's Palace at Glasgow Green. It's indoors but with a beautiful backdrop for our first family photos. Angela arrived on time and we had a chat to get to know each other. She talked us through what we could do and also let us decide what we wanted. She was great with baby boy and we just felt so at ease with her. She came with a suitcase prop so that we could get shots of Harris on his own. She wasn't shy about getting into any angle or position so that she got the perfect shot. Her instructions were great and she got us to pose without it feeling too staged. To complicate matters we had also arranged to meet up with Harris' little cousins and aunt so that we could also spend the afternoon together. Angela was more than happy to incorporate them and took it in her stride. The session lasted about 2 hours and it just flew by. Her lovely manner and professionalism meant we got the images we wanted. She listened to us and worked with us to ensure we were happy. At the end of the session Angela set out a timescale for receiving the photos (3 weeks which is more than reasonable). She also asked permission to preview images on Facebook. I love the fact she didn't presume she could share and asked first. If you're looking for someone to capture those precious moments and little details then Grace Rose Photography is for you. Great value for money and such an enjoyable experience.

Fifteen years ago Byres Road was full of individual wee shops like this; today it's all coffee emporiums and charity outlets. I discovered Owen Bissett when doing my Christmas shopping in December. It's not the sort of place that would normally attract me, but I was looking for a nice present for my sister, and their window display looked inviting, so I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I made that decision. The place is a veritable Aladdin's Cave of jewellery, bijoux, craft wares, designer knick-knacks and generally precious things (preeeeccccciouuusssss!). I soon found a lovely bracelet and necklace combo that my sister was delighted with, and would probably have ended up spending a lot more than I wanted to had not common sense kicked in. There's such a wide range of really unusual things in here, it is ideal if you're looking for that 'special gift' or just want a thing of beauty for yourself. I think my favourite items were the glass bowl sculptures with the natural wood stands - these large thick glass works appear to have been melted and poured onto driftwood or tree-branch tripods, so that they have flowed into the perfect shape for the support. I have no idea what I would use one for (and I couldn't afford one anyway), they were just lovely pieces of craftsmanship. A definite thumbs-up for the most original and unusual shop in Hyndland Street, if not the entire West End. Check it out - you're sure to find something you like.

I love, love, love this shop!…read more There are far too many beautiful things in stock, be it little trinkets, unique and interesting jewellery or gorgeous ornaments (and everything else in between), meaning that you'll be tempted to clear your bank account buying everything in sight! There's something here for all budgets, which is a bonus. I bought a gorgeous necklace for myself a while back that people always comment on, and it only cost £10. Regardless of price, you can be assured that whatever you buy will always be top quality. Owen's window displays are always eye-catching and well thought out; I defy you to walk past and not at least stop for a good look! Displays are changed regularly, which is a great way to showcase the wide range of what's on offer. I highly recommend liking the shop on Facebook too, as it's an extension of the window displays. The service is always fantastic, and everyone there is so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. They'll point out things you might like or will leave you to browse the stock without being over-bearing. It's customer service done correctly, and it's refreshing to behold. It's a great place to go and treat yourself or a loved one, be it Christmas, birthdays or just for the sake of it. It's a truly unique store, and it's wonderful to see such a vibrant independent business thrive. I really can't sing the praises of this shop enough!

Although denounced as an expensive white elephant when it first opened, I'm glad that Glasgow has a…read morevenue like the Concert Hall. It's definitely the best large-hall environment for classical music, and it's also pretty good for rock or other amplified concerts too; although it can't compete with the likes of the SECC or the Hydro in staging the larger acts. I think they sometimes over-stretch themselves when trying to stage large ballet productions and the like, as the stage isn't designed to hold a lot of scenery and they just don't have the technical infrastructure that a normal theatre does, but I have to give them full marks for some of the more innovative shows that they have put on here. The biggest and best has to be Celtic Connections, which has grown from a small traditional music gathering intended to bring a bit of relief to dark January winter days, to the world's largest traditional music festival, a truly global phenomenon and a real feather in Scotland's (and Glasgow's) cap. They also use the smaller Strathclyde Suite for smaller shows, events and functions, and often you will find exhibitions or craft fairs taking over the foyers on quiet weekends - the regular Mind, Body & Spirit fairs are popular for example. The architecture of the building is nothing to write home about and is probably best described as 'functional'. Inside it seems very easy to get lost as there are so many different levels and areas to wander about in. It seems very spacious, but when a full house is trying to exit at the end of a performance, suddenly it feels very cramped. Good points - the foyer bar is nice and long so it doesn't get too mobbed. Bad points - There never seems to be enough loos at larger concerts and the interval queues can be lengthy.

Anyway, I'm here now to tell you all about why I think this is a great venue. Mainly, seating. I love sitting down. Too much, if the news has taught me anything. Sitting down is going to kill me, but now I'm the other side of 30 it's my second favourite position after laying down. We went to see Ben Folds perform here and aside from the fact the gig was exceptional, the seats were comfy, well spaced out and generally amazing. We had good seats too - in the main section along the side, and had a great view. The rest of the building is worth a visit, even if you're not going to a performance there. It's a great space, well laid out and easy to navigate. This was my first visit, but I'll definitely be keeping an eye on the upcoming shows now that I know what a great space it is.

There's a wide selection of jewellery, from bangles to sparkly beads and diamante necklaces with shoe charms to make the lady in your life smile. There is a section dedicated to gifts for new mum's, including cute wee silver trinket boxes with "Baby's first curl" etc inscribed on the lid. There's also a variety of quircky gift ideas, from embroidered photo frames to quaint little owl ornaments or bookmarks or car themed photoframes or mugs. There's even a pin cushion in the shape of a cake! The selling point of this shop, however, is its sparkle. Although there's a few gorgeous wee flowery purses to satisfy your indie tastes, it's a diamond studded wonderland. We were very bedazzled! But there's a good range of goodies in here - it reminds me vaguely of a silver studded Papyrus. And the shop keeper is very bubbly. From stylish wrapping paper to Christmas decorations and back again - I was genuinely surprised at the range of things crammed into this tiny shop! If you're after a gift for someone girly, then this is definitely somewhere you should be heading. At the moment they have sparkly mugs, jewelry, home decorations, baubles of every description and really good quality cards. Although it's not as conveniently placed as Papyrus on Byres Road (and about five times smaller!) it has gifts along the same vein - but quite a lot cheaper. Quick warning, as this shop is so stuffed full, I was quite terrified that my clumsy self was going to knock everything over and end up in a huge pile of girly gifts on the floor. I wouldn't recommend a trip if you're weighed down with bags!
