I'll go out on a limb and decide this kind of reminds me of 5 and 10 cent stores of the past, combined with that little corner store with sundries, milk, cigs, that used to be everywhere from the 30s through the 70's. During the various holiday seasons you will find decorations to purchase outside lining their sidewalk on the side of the building. You see this driving by and it's hard not to turn in and check them out. As you enter the building you will also see some of the outdoor decorations to the right along with a section that appears to have some magazines/ periodicals. To the left and at the counter lottery tickets are available for purchase. As you make your way to the back of the store you start to realize that it transforms from a mishmash to a section that they decided would be more organized and definitely geared towards inexpensive home decor. It's a local gem worth a "stopby" where I'm sure you will find something to purchase. A "must stop"during various holiday seasons.

They had magazines including Forbes and Sports Illustrated. I did not see any newspapers for sale. They had a large variety of snacks including crackers and pretzels. Their mint variety was actually really good. They had mentos and tic-tacs in a variety of flavors. They had some stuff people use on planes like headphones, fidget spinners and head-rests. They had the stereotypical Philadelphia stuff including Ricky pillows, soft pretzel magnets and mini-liberty bells. Nishat, the clerk and cashier, was nice. My main concern was with the prices a head-rest was $17 and some mints and tissues were $7. Outrageous prices. However, that can be expected at an airport.

Yet it just feels likes it's been months since I've seen a new issue come out. I've been along the print road long enough to know that it's a hard thing to do in these times. But of late it seems like 215 isn't even being consistently released as a quarterly. And at this rate by the time a new issue comes out, the city of Philadelphia leaves to many stories on the plate for the magazine that bears it's area code to cover. At least The website does a good job of keeping it fairly up to date. But I hope they prove me wrong and hook up a new issue soon!

Water and soda were just shy of $3, which is pretty standard for an airport. My only complaint was that the ginger ale I purchased was just barely cool - either the fridge isn't cold enough or it had just been fully restocked and didn't have time to come to temperature. My cashier was polite and friendly but very efficient. An airport newsstand is an airport newsstand, but if I found myself near this location again I'd go back.

But the thing that frustrated me most was that almost every item I looked at didn't have a price on it in the first place! I was forced to gather a handful of items I was interested in and wait in line at the cash for a price-check .... then, after being shocked by the big ticket items, had to replace them on the shelf or pegboard. Ugh. One day I will probably have to buy a pack of gum or mints from one of their stores, but you can be sure that I won't waste my time looking any anything else. I don't like leaving poor reviews, but these stores in PHL were just not a good experience. :(
