Found Stella on Google trying to find someone who would specialize in curly hair, which is so hard to find. This is the best layered haircut I've ever had. She has the cutest salon set up I've truly ever experienced. It's outdoors on her patio and it's the full set up. I've never felt zen and peaceful during a Brazilian blowout until i visited Stella. It's the only way i want to get my hair done now! It's such an amazing space and set up. As for my Brazilian blowout- she did an AMAZING job. She used the Brazilian Blowout Free which is free of formaldehyde which means it's less damaging for the same results. I've been getting Brazilian blowouts for 6 years now and this is the first time i wasn't suffocating from the chemicals! I cannot say enough positive things about Stella and her salon. 10/10 recommend!

I had such a great experience with Stella! She did an amazing job with my highlights, color, and Brazilian blowout. My hair looks and feels healthier, shinier, and so much more manageable. She really listened to what I wanted, made sure the color was exactly right for my skin tone, and explained each step so I felt comfortable the whole time. The blowout left my hair silky smooth without feeling heavy, and the highlights blended beautifully and look so natural. On top of her talent, Stella is warm, professional, and makes the whole experience enjoyable. I walked out feeling like a million bucks. Highly recommend her if you want gorgeous results and a stylist who truly cares about her clients!

Stella truly cares and is a honest professional. I took my daughter for a cut/style she wanted that was on a website. However, my daughter has different hair type from the model in the picture. Stella was honest and explained the style would look different because of her hair texture. She offered options and fixed the bad haircut my daughter had received at another salon. Her salon is located in the back of her home, it is very serene and relaxing. We will definitely be back! :)

I was interested in keratin treatment but it doesn't actually straighten the hair it will make it less frizzy for my hair texture so Got the Japanese/rebounding permanent straightening done and it's amazing my hair is very straight exactly what I was looking for!!! This time I wanted something different for a mini mommy makeover and she did a natural red balayage with a brazillian keratin treatment. She is great because she explains each of the steps and even goes over a haircut assessment before beginning to ensure that the client and stylist are on the same page. She is so sweet and really fun to talk with. She pays A LOT of attention to detail and is a master at her craft. I will definitely be coming back for all of my hair needs!!

I have been coming to StellaStyle for 15 years, she is absolutely amazing. Once I found her I never looked elsewhere. She's done my red color for several years now, but has also done dark with blonde highlights and low lights with the red. She also does great haircuts, I love my layers and the shaping around my face. She does my eyebrows and facial waxing while my color sets! She's done various deep conditioning/protein treatments and extensions on my hair over the years as well. She's also done formal styles for me in the past for events. She even did my hair and ny bridesmaids hair for my wedding! I recommend her highly.

Stella is amazing. I came in looking terrible, my previous stylist had bleached my hair unevenly. She completely toned my hair and fixed it. I thought it'd be impossible to fix but she did it. Just did the Japanese straightening treatment & I love it. My sister did it about a week ago and I had to come get it too. Our hair is super thick and wavy and now it's silky straight even after a wash. I can now let it air dry. It has saved me so much time, definitely recommend. read more

I just moved to the area and had asked around for recommendations for a private hair salon, but alas none came through. I read a reviewer for Stella's Style mentioning the privacy of her at-home space and studio and decided to give it a shot. She was quick to respond and help me out with getting a booking for the next day. Let me tell you, I have basically had nonstop traumatic experiences with hair stylers since childhood and this was THE first wonderful experience. First, the salon is setup in her beautiful outdoor area with a covered space. You're literally getting a salon experience in the gorgeousness of San Diego's breeze. It's incredibly clean and professional, and Stella herself is a natural. This was also the first time I didn't even have to show the stylist pictures for her to understand what I was looking for. I got the Keratin treatment with a layered cut and it looks spectacular! I'm already looking forward to my next appointment in a few months. To all the folks who want quality salon treatment and a comfortable environment (and the added bonus of privacy), this is the place to go. Originally wanted the Japanese straightening but due to parts of my hair being bleached, I was told it wasn't the safest route for my hair and even though she'd love to do it she wouldn't feel safe at the risk of ruining my hair. This honesty made me trust her more. We then went and did a brazilian blowout because it'd be healthier for my hair and I love the results we also colored my hair to make it all even since the bleach was from what I did myself previously and we did a trim as well to keep the length. Everything was communicated thoroughly and she was so kind and welcoming. 10/10 recommend. read more

I was really nervous but everything went super well. Stella is a very kind and very professional, she explains things very well and she was very carful/thoughtful throughout each process of the hair straightening. I'm thankful I found Stella. I moved to a different state and it has been challenging to find a stylist. I have been to Stella 2 times. Both times I did a balayage, color, root shadow/base color, highlighting and cut. She does it out of her home and as a customer we can reap the savings. She gives quality work for an affordable price. She has been doing this for several decades. Stella was a teacher Paul Mitchell school. Stella is great at telling you step-by-step what she is doing and how to maintain your hair. I love curling my hair but have a difficult time using a wand. She gave great tips on how to use it and maintain my curls. She sells hair products to help maintain your color and hair. I bought the Signature Blonde Violet Color Proof shampoo and conditioner the first time I went to her. She buys the products in bulk and offers it cheaper than other places. You can come back for a refill for lesser price. I will continue to patronize with her. She is super sweet and does beautiful work! read more

Since I had box dye in my hair, he informed me it would be an extra $70 for a color correction. After getting price estimates from other salons, this seemed like a decent price for my budget. I did my research and looked over his website, Yelp reviews, etc. and the photos impressed me and led me to believe he would produce the balayage I wanted. I didn't mind the price for everything I was getting. I sent David photos of how I wanted my hair a few months before I scheduled the appointment. I have been saving up money and planning this treatment for five months which is perhaps why I'm so upset about the original results from my first appointment. When I walked in he briefly welcomed me and then immediately asked me what I wanted done. Since I've been planning this treatment for so long I had a Pinterest album of similar balayages (not to mention he already had the photo in our thread). He took one glance and got started which made me nervous but I trusted him as a professional. Throughout the treatment there was no communication regarding color, length cut, or anything like that. We sat in silence for 80% of my 3 hr. appointment. We made small talk and I asked him about after care, what he was putting in my hair, etc. He curled my hair and when I turned around and saw my hair for the first time I noticed it was WAY lighter than I expected, but I did like it. I left the salon happy. But I never curl my hair so when I saw it natural (wavy/straight), I could see how messy and amateur it looked. There were chunks reaching up to my roots and he basically dyed the bottom half of my hair a rainbow of blonde colors. NOT a balayage. I left a short review on the website and he text me shortly after with a long reply. I sent him photos of how my hair looked and the photo I originally sent him of what I wanted. He offered to fix it for free, so I went back in. Before my appointment he text me to confirm and said "Would be great if you could take down your review," but I'm glad I waited until after the second appointment to review him again. This time the communication was better, however now that a day has passed I see that my hair is still not where I want it to be since he bleached the whole bottom half and effectively made it difficult to achieve a balayage with just toner. I do understand that I did tell David I liked my hair in the salon because at that point I was fed up and wouldn't bother to have him fix it since he already comped this appointment and spent his time fixing it. Overall it looks much better now and is healthy after I cut 4 inches off (which I did to get rid of the dead bleached hair), but I am still going to get it fixed by another hair dresser. Not only that but I asked him for long layers in my hair cut but my hair is all one length. At the end of the day, if you go to David, just make sure you are clear about what you want because otherwise from what I can tell in other reviews he is a good hairdresser.

Despite all the positive reviews, unfortunately I had a very bad experience going to this salon. I…read moremade a free consultation appointment with Kayla a week prior to the actual appointment regarding hair coloring. During the consultation, she told me that my blonde highlights got darker because of "mineral buildups" in my hair from hard water, and she recommended to do a "CPR treatment" following by applying a toner to bring back the blond color (which highlights got darker and more yellow over time). She said that this treatment plan would make my highlights lighter and blonder again. I made the actual appointment, when the proposed treatment was done. After 30 minutes of sitting under the heat with the treatment applied, she washed out the "CPR treatment" 3 times!!!, scrubbing my scalp and later she told me (when I had the skin reaction) that she used a PH 9 shampoo, which is apparently (I'm reading now about it) harsh, and is disruptive to the hair and scalp. Then, she applied the toner, then a leave-in conditioner, that needed to be washed out due to some skin reaction. When she was working on washing it out, she scrubbed my scalp so viguorusly, that I screamed from pain to stop her doing it so harshly. Later in the afternoon, I started to feel an inflammatory type of severe pain on the back of my scalp. It got worse since yesterday and I don't know what really happened to my scalp, skin, tissue, or nerve, but whatever injury happened, it is extremely painful. Regarding the result of the treatment, nothing that promised was achieved, my hair feels like it got a little darker and making my highlights blonder didn't happen. Kayla told me after drying my hair that she was surprised that her treatment plan didn't work on my hair. What is much worse than not achieving the promised result is the severe pain on the back of my scalp.

This high praise review is long overdue. I came in to Stella's salon 3 months ago, not sure if I wanted / needed the Japanese hair straightening procedure or the less stringent Keratin smoothing process. All I knew is that I wanted to continue letting my hair grow long, but to tame the excessively wavy, frizzy and unmanageable way it gets, even in normal humidity. After a brief consultation during which she explained the differences, Stella steered me towards the Keratin treatment, even though she could just as easily have persuaded me to go for the more expensive Japanese straightening. That in itself meant a lot to me! So Stella worked her magic, and I couldn't be happier with the results! Shortly after the treatment I took a one-week business trip to Kansas working outdoors in high humidity. More recently I was in the Middle East for a one-month assignment, again working in high humidity outdoors. Throughout both trips my hair remained straight and smooth. Stella is very professional and knowledgeable not only about the different hair straightening procedures, but also about how to best care for and maintain the results. She even sent me links for buying the proper sulfate-free shampoo, conditioner and mask products. First off, my hair is naturally curly so I would straighten it everyday, causing damage and dryness. So initially I came to her for a japanese rebonding service. After carefully checking my hair, she strongly disagreed to me (despite the fact that she could get paid more for that) because she very well knew it will damage my hair all the more. I like how she is very knowledgable but yet sincerely care for her client's hair. We ended up doing brazilian blowout/keratin treatment with color and I am sooo inlove with the turn out. I told her I would love to keep coming back to her every 12 weeks (which would mean business for her, right?) but she still gave me numerous advise on how I can maintain my hair looking healthy and frizz-free so I don't have to always get the treatment that many times so I could save money. And her prices aren't too bad either! She has a package to choose from so you end up paying less for the amount of service you get from her. I am definitely coming back for sure! She does her service at the balcony of her home but don't let that discourage you! Unless you wanna pay more for the name of the salon but it's still your hair stylist that matters more. Japanese Hair Straightening and Keratin treatment Stella is one of the very few people in San Diego offering Japanese Hair Straightening. This is a long (over 4hours) and expensive (over $350) procedure, but it is well worth it for me because of the following reasons. (1) Hair is super-easy to manage (less than 3 min for picture-perfect look), that is HUGE for someone with frizzy dry and long hair like me. (2) It lasts a LOONG time, for the next 6 months at the very least. I have had it done twice now, and I can unequivocally say that Stella did an amazing job!! She took her time to make sure it is done perfectly (that means for almost 5.5 hours for hair as long as mine). She made a genuine effort to find out what I was expecting and what other chemicals (hair color, shampoo, chlorine in swimming pools, etc.) my hair may be exposed to for the near future. Given her extensive experience in this business, she was able to provide advice and level set expectations based on those activities. Overall, I highly recommend Japanese hair straightening if you think your hair is taking too much time every morning. I recently moved to San Diego and I've been searching who does Japanese straightening system in the area with Yuko(which is the company that created the Japanese straightening system) for a while. I was so happy to find out that Stella Style not only work with Yuko, but had a great promotion in combination with a keratin treatment. For the past 10 years I've been doing Japanese straightening on my hair every year as a model in Yuko academy in NY. Every time I modeled I learned so much from the teachers who certified hairdressers to do the Japanese straightening about all the details in the process. From the consultation with Stella I already knew that she's absolutely knowledgeable and confident with this service. She is very strict and precise with application, processing and testing. This was my first visit with Stella and I will definitely be coming back! First of all she was extremely flexible to fit me into her schedule as I expressed to her I had something very important to get to on very short notice. I had only scheduled a keratin treatment with her considering she must be busy, so when I went in I still had brassy roots from a previous bleaching I had done she went out of her way to squeeze me in to fix my overall light blonde color and even gave me beautiful a haircut. Even though these things were much needed, I only asked for one thing and Stella went above and beyond and absolutely blew me away with the results. I was pretty much speechless once I finally saw myself in the mirror everything looks absolutely beautiful and Stella was so incredibly kind and informed me of my options and in no way made me feel pressured to choose anything other than what we agreed on previously. Stella is AMAZING! I used her about a year ago and was so impressed with her as a person as well as her hair techniques and talent. I was able to chat with her like we were great friends , it was nice and refreshing! She has a great studio at her house that I felt extremally comfortable with . Her prices are competitive and reasonable. Contact her before you do Groupon , she will honor the same price and you can get booked quicker. Sometimes I feel like when you have stylists on Groupon they are not as good though that is the opposite for her. Her price was $20 for length past the shoulder and it has increased to $45 for those reading old reviews. I am about to go get another hair cut/color with her in a few weeks and I am looking forward to it. She is going out of town for a bit and has been so gracious in making she could fit me in right before her trip. I am so thankful. She gave me a haircut and hair correction which turned so amazing. I really love the color of my hair. She also did brazillian blowout on my hair that makes it so soft and shiny. Stella is an amazing hair artist and a lovely person. I found her by chance on Groupon over five years ago, and that was the best stroke of luck I've had. I have followed her through three different Salons and I can honestly say, I will not go to any other stylist if I can help it (so, please, please don't move out of San Diego, Stella!). Seriously, when I had to relocate to England for a six month sojourn, I made Stella take pictures of the last haircut she gave me so that I could show it to the hair stylists I might go to. I wear my hair really short, and Stella makes each haircut look so easy and simple. The wretched job that several other stylists did on it made me realize how good Stella actually is! After 6 months of going without a haircut, my hair was feeling super dry and frizzy. I work near Portfolio Hair Salon and decided to make an appointment with Stella. Coming in to my appointment she was very punctual and ready as soon as I walked in. Got an amazing shampoo/conditioner! She was super gentle and their products left my hair smelling amazing. Before she even cut a single strand of hair, she asked me exactly what I was looking for and even walked me through the steps of what she was going to be doing. I'm visiting San Diego & I just got home from having my hair cut, colored & straightened by the beautiful, talented Stella. What she did with my hair was pure sorcery!! I went in there a proper mess! She had to fix the color, fix the cut... She got straight to work, and by some sheer magic, she nailed it!! This is the best cut I've had in recent memory! The color is spot on and flawless. The keratin straightener she used has left my hair soft and shiney and I haven't even been able to wash it yet! If she can make this dramatic difference for me, having never seen me before in her life, just imagine how fabulous you would look if she was always your stylist!! She's amazing! Stella is amazing!! I've been going to her for a while now and I've never left disappointed. She's cut and colored my hat, given me a various treatments and masks and I've been more than satisfied with her service and personable work ethic. I went to her for my prom hairstyle and she totally nailed it. My hair was shorter at the time, but she managed to find a style that fit my hair length and the round-esque shape of my face. She gave me classy, pin-up curls and even added little accessories to finish the look. Wether you want to change up your look or just want to update you current hair style, Stella is your girl. I came to see Stella to get a keratine hair treatment and loved that we could do the first part of the treatment outside because it made the chemicals much less harsh. She gave me a hot tea upon arrival which was really nice. I liked that she was really quick to do the keratin treatment, because sometimes when I've had it done before it can take a long time because my hair is so long! I was also surprised she also does a package deal with highlights so I'll be coming back to do those! I was recommended to Stella from a friend that got Japanese straightening with keratin treatment haircut and color. Her hair looked amazing and I couldn't even recognized her when I saw her. She gave me Stella's number and when I called her she was able to fit me in for appointment the same week. I'm very picky with whom I'm I trusting with my hair so that's why I just schedule a regular blow dry and curls. She styled my hair beautifully with volume and the curls were perfectly smooth and lasted for long time. I decided to book appointment for my highlights and base color and she was able to do exactly what I wanted. Her prices are surprisingly affordable and the salon is nice and clean. I originally came to Stella for a Japanese straightening & keratin treatment in May and was super pleased with the service for the great price she offers. She is so sweet and genuinely cares about giving you a look that you will love. The second time I came for a cut and style and Stella suggested that I do something new and add some "balayage" or natural highlights, which came out awesome!! I have never had color on my hair before but I knew I could trust Stella with my hair since it came out so good last time I was with her and I'm glad I did!! She gave me a great deal for the whole salon experience that included the haircut, styling and balayage. Absolutely amazing service!! Stella was so very accommodating, patient, and educative for me. She answered every one of my questions and made me feel incredibly comfortable and as though my curly hair was in good hands! I came to Stella for a haircut and a Brazilian blow out but I also had some previous highlights which came out a bit brassy and orangey. She was able to correct the color all over, and left me with a gorgeous and natural color where some of the highlights still came through! I'm beyond happy with my results and will definitely come to her moving forward for any of my hair needs! I 10/10 recommend her to anyone seeking kind. QUALITY, and KNOWLEDGEABLE. care. Every one is fond of their own hair wether it is frizzy or dry or rough or unhealthy too, there is a way out rebonding your hair and fell in love with your hair again again when you touch your hair. Yes, you are right! I did my hair rebonding at Stella's salon. She was friendly and the process took less than 4 hours for my hair. Usually my hair is frizzy and dry and I always wanted silky, shiny and smooth hair And now I am satisfied with the Japanese hair straightening treatment by Stella. It may be Japanese straightening system/rebonding treatment plus a keratin treatment. The result was just amazing and now I have lovely hair that everyone likes. I will definitely be back! I have been trying to find a consistent hairstylist & am so happy I finally found Stella! She helped me after another stylist had done what I thought was irreparable damage.. Dyed my roots a different color than the rest of my hair, didn't tone my highlights (so they looked orange), & gave me a totally unblended "layered" cut. I called around and Stella was willing to come in on her day off to fix it for me. I LOVE the color she did - evened out my dark base & did a perfect caramel balayage. She also blended my layers. Then she gave me great hair maintenance advice & sold me an affordable but good leave-in conditioner that I've been using. I am so happy with my hair and will be coming back! read more
