We were ecstatic to sign a builders agreement with Hille's. They have worked in the area for years & had a good reputation. HAD!!!!! Unfortunately we experienced 6 months of utter incompetence. Their communication and customer service is appalling & they are full of empty promises. After initially being assured in March that our construction would be completed by Xmas 2016, we were given verbal time frames that continued to move. Based on these timeframes we evicted our tenants from our rental property & planned our move. Unfortunately the time frames given were just to keep us on the hook, they hadn't even contacted the council for permits until July (I only found this out after we lost complete faith in them and gave written notification that we were not continuing their services). Only then did Craig, the Director, take an interest in things. Craig sat with us extremely apologetic & 'gutted' by our experience with his company. He certainly said all of the right things in an attempt to keep the work, however his follow up was equally incompetent. Craig said he would look into the costings & give us a refund. That was two months ago. Now we find ourselves locked in a legal battle to recover the deposit of more than $13,000 and have received nothing but tokenism from Craig ( a very poor excuse for a professional businessman) and intimidation and misleadign information from his legal representatives, including being prevented from posting this review. I could really go on & on but I will save it for VCAT and a Current Affair, who absolutely love a story like this.. Hille's, in my opinion, have acted unprofessionally and unconscionably. They are no longer the company they once were - be very careful.

Inspecting…read morefor a quote they damaged the heating duct work then claimed it wasn't them and that I couldn't prove it was. Also claimed the person who did the inspection was a subcontractor, not an employee so I needed to chase him regarding repair cost. While I'm out of pocket for the duct work, I'd hate to think what the situation would have been like if they were paid and damaged the structure.
