Our kids have been taking guitar and more recently, piano lessons from Mr. Barboza for a few years now. I'm not usually one to write yelp reviews, however, Mr. Barboza has been such a wonderful choice for our family. He allows the child to select either their own songs or music styles they would like to play or he would suggest certain songs that would be most suitable for that child. He has his students playing everything from classical and rock-n-roll to pop and r&b, which makes sense, since he is also a DJ. In addition to the music lessons, Mr. Barboza would hold annual Spring, Summer, and Holiday recitals, to provide a venue for all his students to perform and showcase their talents. Furthermore, we have also enjoyed attending a few gigs and concerts featuring Mr. Barboza and his band, Afterglow. We would definitely recommend Mr. Barboza as a music instructor for your child and even for yourself! read more

Stefan Barboza is a fantastic music teacher. Two of our children are taking music lessons from him. One is taking guitar lessons and one is taking piano lessons. Stefan Barboza has taught both my children guitar and keyboard. My kids have very different personalities, and I particularly appreciate how Stefan adapted his approach to each of my kids' interests. For my daughter, Stefan has provided her with opportunities to record, both her original work and cover songs. She's developed so much in the year that she's been taking lessons that she's comfortable writing her own music now. Like many teens, she needs constructive outlets for the emotional ride that is adolescence. To be able to express herself through music is as much a tool as it is a hobby. My 10 year old son started taking guitar lessons with Mr. Barboza a few months ago. Within those few months he has shown tons of patience and encouragement. He had started out with acoustic, but Mr. Barboza mentioned that maybe electric would be easier to start. This statement actually made my son want to play even more! Stefan was an excellent music instructor for our son all through his elementary school years and into high school. Our son was a bit fidgety in his younger years and Stefan was always super patient with him. I had figured that our son would want to quit piano lessons when he got into high school, but instead he kept trying his best to continue working it in around all his other activities and sports. Mr. Stefan is a fantastic music teacher. He is very patient with children and his relaxed and unassuming nature puts students at ease right away. My son took guitar lessons from him starting at age 8 and had to stop at 18 when he went to college. My other son decided he wanted to try the piano and Mr. Stefan has been great at both. Our daughter was a student of Stefan for 11+ years. She learned to read music, play a variety of genres on her guitar that allowed her to accompany herself while singing. He's the best !! Stefan Barboza is an incredible DJ!! He DJ'd twice at a private home in Napa for their Halloween parties that I helped host. He made the parties!!! He played music to fit the age group. There was never a moment that the music was not playing! And Stefan always has a smile on his face when DJ'ing. So you can tell he enjoys what he is doing!
