When I couldn't renew my book online, it was super easy to call and they renewed it for me pretty quickly. It's a large library with movies, books, magazines, and I think you can even do e-books. I haven't tried this yet because a good book in hand is always nice.

I particularly love the documentary film collections on DVDs. I don't have Netflix and amazon film services ... I don't have television cables either. I really don't need it. I don't have time for it. This is how I give the finger to evil multinational corporations. I take advantage of the library catalog and use its hold service to my heart's content. I really hope the public libraries like this will continue to thrive. Those DVDs educated me far more than anything I learned in grad schools. Seriously. I've been trying to checkout a state park pass from Library of Things ... it has not been successful. They told me that they only have 4 passes and 10 in the entire library system. I will keep trying! Maybe I will get lucky one day! Hey, I heard a public library in San Francisco has sewing machines! I would love a sewing and knitting/crocheting workshops here ...helping me give more fingers to the corporations by sewing my own underwears ... why not? Maybe you can cooperate with Sew Green to make it happen ... My only "complaint" is that I wish the purchase request process was more transparent .. i.e. if I could get a feedback from the librarian as to the possibility for the purchase of a particular item I want to borrow, and receiving a notification when the item is purchased ... that would be delightful ... but then I know that we can set the catalog search parameter to alert us to the items when it is cataloged in the library system, so no complaints ... Please keep up the wonderful work! The library is one of the best ways our tax money is put to use!

Owned and operated by a nonprofit completely independent from Cornell, Telluride is home to a "self-governing intellectual community" (not a cult, or a fraternity, contrary to popular belief) of Cornell undergrads, grad students, and professors, who live and eat for free in exchange for doing work on various aspects of the house. There are readings, lectures, concerts, film screenings, and much more, a lot of which is open to the public. In addition, the building itself is a gorgeous historical artifact of Arts and Crafts-style architecture, with a lot of original detailing and some rather worn pieces of Stickley furniture. If you're curious, ring the doorbell and ask whoever answers if you can have a tour. Telluriders are really nice, if busy and nerdy, and always eager to talk about the weird, wonderful place where they live.

Great learning experience. Cornell has provided very informative faculty so you can ask as many questions as you want. They also have a huge collection of Lincoln & Gettysburg information, artwork, photographs, and memorabilia, including an original copy of the Gettysburg Address. I think that the other 4 copies are all owned by government, so it's pretty cool that Cornell has one. Olin Library in general is pretty cool. I really like the group meeting areas and Olin cafe. The rare book exhibits are must-sees though. Go now!

Founded by Ezra Cornell in 1865, it contains 7 colleges, 4 which are land grant/ NY state subsidized (SUNY, or State University of New York).( College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, College of Human Ecology, Industrial and Labor Relations, and College of Veterinary Medicine)College of Arts and Sciences, College of Engineering, College of Architecture, Art and Planning. Cornell has the most beautiful, or gorges campus ( Ithaca is gorges)... built over a few gorges with safety nets and bars to prevent the stress of academic life from making drastic decisions ( sad but true). Each quad is unity and has its own feel, and there are several newer buildings, not all consistent with the original beautiful architecture. No visit here would be complete without visits to Uris Library's President AD White Library, McGraw Tower, the terrace overlooking campus and Cayuga Lake from Willard Straight Hall, Sage Chapel, the Law School's Annabel Taylor Hall, Beebe Lake, Lynah Rink... you get it. It's beautiful, gorgeous as they say in Ithaca they have such a variety of programs they offer. The campus is beautiful. It's up all these cascading hills with waterfalls breaking through the campus in two spots. There's a combination of modern buildings with Panik views. Collegetown has some great restaurants actually some of the better restaurants in the city of Ithaca are in Collegetown they like make your own bento and some hot pot places and a variety of other cuisines, but cool old architecture, vine covered buildings there's so much to experience in and learn at Cornell.
