The scenery, atmosphere, and overall property create a relaxing environment that feels very "Kentucky wine country." The staff was also incredibly friendly, welcoming, and wonderful with families and kids. The gift shop and tasting space itself functionally was not laid out in a way that made the experience especially easy or comfortable to enjoy. For those of you interested in tastings, there is nowhere comfortable to sit during the tasting process, unless you want to trade into plastic cups and head outside. This unintentionally created a rushed feeling, even though the staff themselves never pressured us. As for the wines, I tried the Cabernet Sauvignon, Equestrian Series, and Crimson Cabernet. I personally tend to lean towards drier, more robust wines, these felt fairly lackluster overall and lacked the depth and balance I personally look for in a wine that can either stand confidently on its own or pair beautifully with food. A few of the sweeter wines others in my group sampled came across far more grape-forward than expected and reminded me more of juice than a refined wine experience. (My overall impression was they paired more with $10 bottles than the prices that were asked) While the staff was clearly well-intentioned and friendly, the overall tasting experience lacked some of the seriousness, polish, and professionalism that you would expect from a true leader in the wine space. We had to request that glasses be emptied and cleaned between tastings, water was never offered between pours, and some of the finer details that elevate a winery experience simply felt overlooked. That said, this place has a lot of potential. Between the scenery, atmosphere, and welcoming team, I could absolutely see why Talon Winery would become a favorite spot for locals or visitors looking for a casual afternoon outing. However, for those looking for a polished, elevated "Napa-style" wine experience, this may not quite be the home run I had hoped it would be.

The grounds are gorgeous and inside is just so quaint with an at home feel. It's full of unique antiques and decorated so tastefully. The owner and her beautiful daughter were so kind. They were friendly and helpful throughout our event. They are just the most charming hosts. This would be an excellent location for a wedding, rehearsal dinner or a shower. There are various picturesque locations throughout. Go check the winery out, you will not be disappointed!

We were heading to Lexington for…read morethe day and weren't going to make it to our initial first stop in time for their on-the-hour tour. So a quick Yelp search (and a perusal of a DrinkKY brochure conveniently kept in the car) we figured out we could make a stop at Castle Hill Winery on the way. As we were walking up, the gentleman on a riding lawnmower hopped off to greet us and take us inside for our tasting. He is the owner and the winemaker and a regular Chatty Cathy! Super friendly and ready to talk about anything and everything. Including his wines! The wine tasting costs $1 per sample (you try 6 of the wines, it costs you $6). And the wines run $15 per bottle. Which is pretty reasonable, in my Kentucky-wine drinking experience. I tried several wines and enjoyed them. I ended up also buying a bottle of the strawberry wine to take home. The fruit wines are sweet without being syrupy. I really liked them. The venue is lovely. Nice outdoor space with a lot of green and seating options. It looks like a lovely place to have a wedding or private event. I would highly recommend a visit here. The only draw back is that I don't think they have a working credit card reader. They accept credit card payments, but will be processing them the old fashioned way...hand-writing out your receipt, taking your card information down, and processing it all....later. So, if you are planning ahead for a visit here, I would recommend bringing cash.

Believed I was booking a horse farm tour and bourbon tour after requesting this and sending back an email stating I was looking forward to the tour, and never was told otherwise until the driver already had picked us up and told us no tours were booked for the day. Spoke to JB in the office who was rude and then told the driver, without my knowledge, to take my group home. After initialing refunding, I was told my credit card was charged again without my knowledge or consent. When I told the company this was not OK and they were not authorized to charge my card, this is part of the response JB/Thoroughbred Limo sent me: "Your comments tell me you are someone looking to scam an honest small business... You remind me of the scammers at restaurants that want their $200 tab comp't because the $5 kids meal french fries were cold... You must desperately need the money. Have a good weekend. We love city tours. Walking tours, bike tours, food tours, bus tours. With limited time in a city,…read morethey're a great way to get a feel for the area and to pick out places you'd like to revisit. Heck, we've even taken tours in our own city! Very fun. This tour was no exception. We had a very enjoyable afternoon, got to see a lot of different things, learn a bit about the history of Louisville, and try some delicious foods. The format of this tour is as such: the bus drops you off at a location for 30-60 minutes, giving you time to explore while City Taste runs off to pick up food from a local eatery. When you get back on the bus, there's a taste (and a drink) to be eaten as you drive on to the next stop. The benefit of this is that you get to experience AND taste bits of Louisville, instead of one or the other. The drawback is that there is sometimes a bit of waiting around for the bus to return. On our tour, we stopped at Schimpffs candy shop, Churchill Downs (where we took a tour), Old Louisville, Louisville Slugger OR NULU (we were given an option), and the Belle of Louisville. Our favorite stop was Old Louisville by far. What a BEAUTIFUL area with such rich history! The food we had was fried green tomatoes, hush puppies, hot brown pizza, pulled pork and potato salad, and Derby Pie. All were delicious, but the particular favorites were the hush puppies and the hot brown pizza. Alongside came a variety of drinks... we weren't huge fans of the flavored beers and wines (vanilla, strawberry, etc.) but we liked the bourbon tastings, the bourbon coffee, and the mint julep at the end. For reference, the food quantity was enough to keep us mostly satisfied but not amounting to a full meal replacement. I wouldn't eat a huge lunch before you go, but I also wouldn't show up hungry. City Taste Tours was extremely accommodating and gracious to our family. I realize these tours aren't geared toward kids specifically, but they went out of their way to make it enjoyable for everyone on board. If you're looking for a tour that's a bit of everything, a "taste" of all tours, this is the one for you. It's quirky, fun, and a great way to spend an afternoon in Louisville. **One last thing I'd mention: we booked a private tour, mostly because we just didn't want to take away from anyone else's experience by bringing 6 kids along. We were surprised to find out after being picked up that the bus was picking up other riders as well. It honestly worked out TOTALLY fine - it was a great couple that came along with us - but I just mention this to warn someone who actually cares a lot about it being a private tour... you might want to double check that they don't somehow overlook your private reservation and add extra people to your group.

Communication fell…read moreapart after my initial payment -- I spent over a week trying to get basic updates with no response. It wasn't until I escalated repeatedly that someone finally got back to me, promising to "make it right" and offer a discount for the disorganization. That never truly materialized. Our drivers showed up late, weren't informed of the itinerary until the night before, and we were charged for 15 guests even though only 13 attended (offered a partial refund for the missing 2). Two vans arrived when one would have been enough -- a clear sign of poor planning. Our Buffalo Trace tour wasn't at the time requested, and our group got split, likely due to late booking. If you're just looking for a ride between distilleries, this company might do the job. But if you want a stress-free, well-organized experience with honest follow-through -- look elsewhere.

The tour included 3 beers and a walk through of the brewery. Our tour guide was so much fun and even had cupcakes for our friends birthday! After West Sixth we got on the party bus. Bill, the party bus driver, was waiting for us. He was so friendly and immediately told us about the coolers and passed us the aux cord. Bill drove us to the distillery district where we went on tours at Wise Bird and Ethereal. We spent around 2 hours in this area which was nice because we had the option to get food. From Ethereal we went to Rock House Brewery, then to Mirror Twin! At each brewery we got a tour and small explanation on how they made their beer. We also got plenty of samples at each brewery. Mirror Twin was our final destination. We arrived just in time for the UK game! Part of our tour included a small seating area for our friends to watch the UK game! Everybody at Lex on Tab was so friendly and accommodating- I would recommend this tour to everybody!
