I hate to leave a bad review about a local company, but this is a safety hazard they need to fix. The gate is beautiful. But they totally botched the installation. Engineered it incorrectly twice. The brick pillar they screwed it into was pulling off the wall and they refused to do anything about it even though it was their engineer who approved it. Said the brick wall was our problem. Because they wouldn't fix it, and other companies were booked out for 6 months, we reinforced and reinstalled it and found that the anchors they used were cheap and shoddy not to mention half of them were not actually used! Needless to say, it's very unsafe to have a 1000lb gate installed so poorly. I think this is a case that could be brought to court or the BBB, but I don't want to mess with it. I'm just glad it was obviously dragging and not closing right so we could prevent it coming down on a child. Please do better so you don't hurt someone. Quality assurance, and checklists for your crew would fix this if they actually would follow it. read more

The time frame from order to installation took 3 months! There was absolutely no communication to let us know what was going on. We were made to feel once they took half the money as down payment, they just didn't care. They blamed the delays on powder coat delays and Covid. We called multiple times but all they did was hand us off to other people in the company. The gate was finally installed this week and we are super pleased with the installation and craftsmanship. If someone could have just communicated with us and kept us informed due to time issues, would have been very helpful and we would not be as disgruntled as we are today. If you're looking for a great gate and do not mind waiting three months from start to finish, with little to no communication, Steel Creations is your go to company. My advice to this company is to communicate honestly with your customers upfront and let them know it is going to take 3 months. Don't tell us it will be 4-6 weeks at the most (just to get the business) and then fail to communicate with us through the process. read more

We had a custom made gate and there were gaps where the inside of the metal gate did not meet the outside rim. They skirted the issue and kept telling us to pay the last half of the invoice. There is more to the story, but have no desire to go further as I do not like doing this kind of review. I am sure they do good work with most gates. If you use this company, make sure you ask to see the gate BEFORE it goes through the powder process. This way you can see possible issues before it goes through that last process. read more

The worst company ever. We had 4 gates installed. They closed for the 1st month, but have not closed for the last 2 years. The purpose of the gates was to keep people out, but we have to use rope or bungee cords to keep them closed. I continue to call Steel Creations to come fix the gates. They schedule an appointment and don't show up or don't call back. They are quick to charge top dollar and take your money. read more

The workmanship of Steel Creations is amazing!! Unfortunately that is the only positive thing I can say about this company. Similar to most of the other reviews, communication was horrible throughout the entire process. It was like pulling teeth from a hippo to get anyone to tell us when they were coming, what the plan was moving forward, there was no blueprint, no outline, no drawing or rendering prior to fabrication, no heads up when they actually came and started working while we were gone. We asked several times for a final walk through with the owner because there were several things we had paid for that never got finished. In order to get the job completed, we had to with-hold our final payment to get the job done correctly (which took about 6 months from start to finish.) We were also told that the missing items were "warranty issues" even though the job had never been completely finished. We also asked to have a final inspection because we were worried about a section installed extremely close to the edge of a rock retaining wall. We had asked the fence to be placed as close to the wall as possible while maintaining safety and security. We were told by the installers (18-20 year old boys mind you) that it would be sturdy and secure and there wouldn't be any issues. Lo and Behold, nearly a month after completion, the fence along the retaining wall fell down and ripped loose from the other panels and pulled the two small rocks it was "secured" to with it. We were fortunate no one was below the gate when it came crashing down as the weight alone would have been enough to crush someone. When we reached out to Shane, the owner, to make a warranty claim on what we felt was poor installation, he told us steel creations didn't warranty acts of nature and they would be happy to come repair our fence for a fee. Since that conversation, I have had three other fencing companies come give their professional opinion, as well as my insurance inspector and all 4 came to the same conclusion that the foundation for the gate was not secured beyond 4 little screws into a couple of 20 lb. rocks. They ALL said it would not have passed any of their standards of inspection for safety protocol. No concrete foundation, no support into the actual ground or down the rock wall, just attachment to a couple of rocks on top and no supervision. I am now having to pay $1000 to another company to come and do it the right way because Shane and Steel Creations don't care about their customers and will not stand behind their product. It is too bad, had there been ANY communication prior to or during the installation, every single on of these issues could have been resolved. I asked Shane multiple times when he demanded final payment to come do a final walk through so I could highlight things still needing to be done as well as chat with him about some of our frustrations with the lack of communication and the lack of customer input on the entirety of the project. Instead, Shane sent out a new project manager. The current company who is fixing the gate told us this was not the first time they had been tasked with fixing a poor job done by steel creations. Upon further review of their company, I discovered that they print out 3d renderings as well as a blueprint of the design prior to fabrication and consult with the clients to ensure everything is satisfactory to the customer's liking. What a difference that would have made!! They also set appointment dates and times that they honor and communicate when plans change with their customers. I wish I would've consulted them initially instead of Steel Creations to avoid a horrible experience and paying multiple times for the work to be done right. Live and learn I guess! read more

Extremely difficult to communicate with this guy. I've come to find out that with all of the construction in St George, there is so much business that they make you chase them to get anything done. I even had businesses turn me away. My gate did turn out ok but I received zero information as far as height of the gate. One day we're sitting in the living room and hear all this pounding and low and behold they were out front installing my gate. No phone call, now knock on the door, nothing.
