Well Mooresville steak 'n Shake is back and I finally had time to try it. It's under new ownership and I met him seems like a really nice guy but you know he's talking to a customer so but he didn't have any buddy in there that was rude from the prior ownership. And I must say this steak 'n Shake has got to be the cleanest one I have ever been in. Only had a couple problems they've taken away the silverware which I understand in this day and age and replaced them with the baskets also they no longer have servers they have replaced them with a Kiosk. Food is good and fresh everything was excellent the chili has the same great taste but at the time we were there they were no oyster crackers. read more

August 2021 - Many of the Central Indiana Steak N Shakes have been closed for financial reasons. I was glad to see this one open and so we stopped in to give it a try. The employee that greeted us needs to be trained. You do not welcome people by yelling "CASH or CARD!" as soon as you walk through the door. You simply say, Good Afternoon, we are now using these kiosks for ordering. If you are paying with cash then please use this one. The kiosk worked fine but needs to be reprogrammed. The sandwich condiments should default to everything that comes with the sandwich and then the customer can remove what they don't want. I don't want to touch something that has been touched by 100 people. There was no option for water except bottled water. I found the cups and got my own free water. The very limited staff did not announce order numbers and so that system was worthless. They tried to deliver a meal to our table that did not belong to us. We finally received our food and it was excellent! Once they figure out the new system then maybe things will click but for now they are struggling. read more

If I could give this SNS zero stars I would. I have worked fast food & other SNS's before. This is the WORST of them all. The manager is just straight up rude. I'm not even sure how she got her job. All I wanted was a large cherry coke, not a million dollars. All in all she charged me over $8 for one cherry coke. I kept asking her why it was so expensive and what all I was being charged for. She kept saying that cherry syrup is $0.50 more. Okay I understand that, I know that drinks from SNS are not on the cheapest side of the range. But no one in hell should anyone be paying over $8 for one drink. Then when asked for the receipt she said the printer wasn't working. Ma'am you need a new job. I'm going to call tomorrow to see if I can speak to someone competent and figure out the situation. The inside of SNS has always been the same, not expecting a 5 star restaurant in terms of decor. As far as "fast food" restaurants go, this one is pretty decent. The wait in line is always long hence my quotes around "fast food." Making food to order is what I assume takes longer. But 20 minutes in line gets a little annoying for my impatient self. Since I do not eat red meat, I'm just getting a milkshake and maybe fries with cheese, when we stop. But my husband and son get the same thing every single time. We've noticed that when we hit the Carmel Steak N Shake, it takes about 10-15 minutes in line. This location takes at least 20 minutes, every time. There was only one car in front of us at our last stop, so I thought maybe we'd get thru quicker. Nope! 22 minutes, on the dot, for 2 burgers, 2 fries, 2 drinks and one milkshake. Staff is, however, always polite and courteous and I think we've only had one order mishap out of dozens of orders. A time or 2 hubby and son have complained about their burgers being soaked in grease. This isn't a place we eat at often, so I'm not sure what the deal is for the occasional over greasiness. read more

I was very clearly the guy who had just disembarked from a plane from somewhere that wasn't Indiana and it was my first visit to a Steak N Shake. I noticed the Original Double N Cheese and then a California Double Steak Burger. Hmm... being originally a Californian, I had to inquire. Enter the (very friendly, accommodating) waitress... "Random question, how is the California burger different from the double cheeseburger?" "Well, it has California sauce." "Of course! California sauce..." Friend gives disapproving look, promptly orders 'Frisco Melt. So California sauce is Thousand Island which is now solely to be called California Sauce and sidebar, I have seen mentioned as such in other places, so that quickly needs to become a universal thing. But my snarky investigation aside, I thought they made a good burger. I said something dumb like, "damn, this is a good burger" and then they brought the check which was all split out per person and I loved Indiana a little more than I already did. I literally took a picture of the check. Heed this lesson California. I thanked our disarmingly nice waitress and wondered, for a second, whether a flight home was really a good idea. We usually have a pretty average experience here. Our latest experience was exactly that. We were seated promptly upon arriving. Our server immediately introduced herself as well as a trainee. They took our orders immediately since we were ready. Both the server and the trainee wrote them down. A short time later, our food arrived. The burger was fresh and hot. The fries were on the cold side. My shake ended up coming out after our food arrived, which was disappointing. It was as though they forgot about it. It only arrived after I reminded them. The trainee was not with our server half of the time she had interactions with us. He was too busy socializing. She acted overwhelmed and frustrated regarding this. I grew up around Steak 'n Shake, then I moved out of state, and didn't live around a Steak 'n Shake for 10 years. I was really excited when I moved to Indiana to finally be near one again. Sadly, this particular Steak 'n Shake has consistently shown me how poor of service it has for its customers. My wife and I have gone through the drive thru several times now, and we are always met with rude and uncalled for behavior by the staff, both over the intercom and at the window. Additionally, we have dined inside, and have experienced sub-par food one visit after the other. The fries have been soggy, the burgers have been flat and seemingly rushed, and the service has been less than friendly. I would advise that you seek your Steak 'n Shake fix elsewhere. read more

Not a fan of this Steak and Shake. Quality during busy times is hit or miss - most of the time a miss for me. Waitress was snappy and unfriendly. I know it's busy, but we are being friendly with you so that is just uncalled for. When we got our food it looked really sad. The Frisco Melt came out barely grilled and even when we asked for the bread to be grilled more it still came back with very little improvement. At that point we gave up. A lot of details were just missed. She forgot our cheese sauces and toppings requested on our burgers. Other food at the table was also off quality wise. The buns of the burgers were soggy. At one point, the waitress was yelling in frustration about something in front of customers. Just all around not a good experience. I recently just went through the drive thru at this location. While granted it was late at night, once we arrived to the window, our order was wrong. Seeing is how it was late at night though, luckily, we were the only ones in line, and so we attempted to politely explain the mixup to the drive thru worker. We asked for the order to be corrected and that we would even pay for the mess up (it was a combo missing the large Sprite) The drive thru worker was incredibly rude, accusing our driver of not being clear on the order. Generally I'm a fan of steak'n shake. Usually get taco salads. Never go to this location on the weekend. Breakfast and lunch service during the week is usually good with the regular waitstaff. Tonight I drove through and got a taco salad. Never have I seen such a little portion so I parked, went in, complained and they gave me a new one. Looked ok so I drove home. Got about halfway through then drained the water out. Gross. Buy a salad spinner! Have been very disappointed on other weekends, so I'm done. Literally the worst Steak 'n Shake in the country. I just spent 15 minutes at the drive thru window with no other cars in front or behind and the inside empty. Made my 5 minute drive home and opened my triple cheese burger that was cold on a hard Burt bun with cold completely unmelted cheese. My wife had a frisco melt that wasn't toasted and had NO FRISCO SAUCE!!!!!!
