My bf went and got us dinner after he picked our son up, it wasn't busy, he ordered my food, his food and my sons food! Which to our surprise when he was digging in the bag for my son's fries, NO FRIES! Matter in fact I was the only person out of 3 people who got their food. He was too far to even go back. This was one of the first foods i grew up on. You can go wrong with steak n shake, but recently, they have changed a bit of the recipes and some foods aren't the same. Still go here weekly/monthly the service was nice. And the ambiance was very retro. read more

I have so many fond memories going to Steak and Shake with friends and family when I was younger. It's so sad to see how this restaurant has gone downhill in the past few years. I understand staffing issues and COVID made things challenging, so I don't have any issue with ordering on a kiosk and getting our food at the counter. What I do have an issue with is being treated like I, as a customer, am not important and the items I've paid for are not a concern. My sister and I took our kids in to get a quick bite to eat a few days ago. My sister especially needed to eat and go in a reasonable amount of time as she had somewhere to be, but had enough time to sit down for about 30-40 minutes for a meal. We both got a combo meal, a kid's meal, and a kid's size milkshake. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was absolutely delicious, but our milkshakes were missing. We understand these can take a little longer, so we waited while we ate. I know one big issue for the employees working was the drive-thru was backed up, so that was a big concern for them. I totally get it; I've done my time in restaurants so I understand. I eventually went up to ask about the milkshakes after waiting 30 minutes. The manager was not friendly at all and asked me "What is it?" when he came out of the kitchen. When I told him about the milkshakes, he pretty much waved me off and told me where they'd be served. Rude, but okay. We continued to eat, but at the 40 minute mark, my sister really needed to go. She went up that time to ask about them, and another employee finally started making them after asking what we were missing. She was super polite and got them in to go cups and apologized for the wait. This alone convinces me not to come back, which is highly unfortunate because I really do love the food. I didn't feel like I was welcome as a customer by the manager, even though the food was absolutely delicious. Also, the restaurant is sticky and gross... needs a desperate deep clean. The floor was sticky, the booths were sticky, the table was sticky... I felt uncomfortable as far as cleanliness goes. If you want quick and delicious food and don't necessarily care about the cleanliness, go for it. The food usually comes out pretty quick, and it is SO good. However, don't order a milkshake. Went through the drive through 15 minutes before closing and they stated they were closed. I could understand pulling up right at closing time but the employees clearly wanted to prioritize getting out early versus serving customers. Once my car broke down and I was ordering door dash, and don't get me wrong I used to LOVE their burgers growing up but honestly this store NEVER gets it right. I don't care for the hashbrowns at S&S, and this order wasn't any different. Got the double garlic steak burger and there was so much garlic powder/salt on the top bun I couldn't even finish it.

We had an emergency occur in the car in the drive through mid order where my dog started spasming and I made a distressed noise. The Drive through attendant then told me not to scream in her ear "thank you". Clearly something was going wrong and instead of potentially asking if there was something wrong or if we needed help because clearly something was wrong she just made the situation worse and more stressful. Some things never change. With Steak 'n Shake that's very good! Most recently I came here with a group. When the place was busy. We got seated immediately. And waited on soon after. The restaurant operated with great efficiency. The waitress I had was fantastic! A wonderful laidback personality. Always around to serve the customers. Never having to look for her. I give this gal an A+ !!! I made sure she received a nice tip. The food is great ! Which includes the breakfast. Hard to beat the biscuits and gravy. I'm not big on eating eggs. Yet these are tasty. Also the bacon is crispy and not full of fat. Unlike too many establishments. The coffee is good. Not bitter. The lunch and dinner is just as good! The burgers are terrific! Juicy not dry. And I love the small fries. Add the variety of chili meals as a must try. Personally I like the Chili 5 Way. You will not get shorted on the beef, chili, cheese, or onions. Loaded on top of spaghetti. I keep coming back whenever I'm in the vicinity. I never leave disappointed. read more

You order on touch screens it's not 24 hours anymore and overall the food was good, you had a nice experience when you ate there, but not anymore. It's not like the good ole days. Why... All these places that used to be family night out type of restaurants suck now. We were told to use a kiosk because that's all that there was. We also asked the "manager" some questions to which she responded with an attitude. My thought is SERIOUSLY? How is my family supposed to get out of the house to see REAL PEOPLE when we get a kiosk and some rude manager. This is why your marketing sucks and you are losing money and customers. What was once a fun place to hangout and get good service is a place with almost no employees and fancy kiosks. We are back tracking and losing personal relationships with people. Food was consistent with other steak n shakes. Went through drive up, old gum, ketchup, dirty drive thru windows. Parts of the soffit falling off, fence adjacent to drive thru lane is covered in bird droppings and trash caught up against it. Not sure of inside of restaurant but the manager really needs to address the issues outside fast. Ketchup on wall under drive up window looks to be dried out and looks to have been there for quite a while. Maybe walk around the building once a week and take a pen and paper and write down everything that needs addressed and delegate employees to one or two tasks each and get it accomplished. read more

Dirty interior with stacked up dirty cups. Floor was dirty/sticky. Overflowing urinal in the men's bathroom that didn't seem to be concerning to the team member when I pointed that out. Terrible service (25+min to get my to-go burger order). Believe they purposely prolonged our order from being made because I complained that I wanted an extra large drink that I was not able to order using the computer self-service touchscreen.
