A small thing but they are terrible as far as customer service and common sense…read more I stopped to use their air pump. Paid a dollar fifty and the pump was not working properly. Told the mechanic who observed the entire problem. He was filling another tire in the garage so I told him about my problem and he said we don't do that. When a woman hit my rear bumper in a parking lot last winter, she offered to pay for the damages…read moreinstead of putting it through insurance and insisted that I take it to Grand Auto, even though I have another mechanic that I go to regularly, because her husband is good friends with the owner. Since she was paying, I didn't protest. Han (the owner) did a great job on my car and treated me very well. He even offered to pay for a rental while my car was in his shop. I'm not sure if that's something he does for everyone or if he did that because his friend was the one paying, but it was kind nonetheless. This year, my car was having new problems and I decided to take it to Han again because I was very pleased with his work last time. He's very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about auto repair, but the price he charged me for labor was super steep. I wound up going to Ray Auto Repair in North Haledon who charged me a whole $100 less for a very thorough job. However, he's a close friend of my boyfriend's dad, so that's probably the reason why it was so cheap. I wonder if Ray would've charged the same price as Han had I not had connections, but I never got around to asking. BOTTOM LINE: BE BESTIES WITH A MECHANIC.
