This place this the definition of brunch and yap If you're looking for a brunch spot that checks every box--fluffy pancakes, savory bites, and aesthetic drinks--this is it. We came here on a weekend (come early to miss the crowd), the food and vibes made it absolutely worth the wait. What we ordered: 1. Japanese Pancakes: These were a dream--pillowy soft with just the right amount of sweetness. Topped with fresh strawberries, blueberries, a generous swirl of whipped cream, and a light dusting of powdered sugar. The cream pool around the pancakes added a subtle richness without being too heavy. If you like your pancakes light and airy, this is your go-to. 2. Hi End Brioche Toast (Scramble Style): This dish was loaded and packed with flavor--soft scrambled eggs, sautéed mushrooms, spinach, shaved parmesan, avocado chunks, and microgreens on top of buttery brioche toast. Every bite had the perfect balance of savory, creamy, and fresh. 3. Speciality Iced Coffees: Not only was it Instagram-worthy, but it also hit the sweet spot (literally). Layers of espresso, milk, and whipped cream with a drizzle of caramel--rich but not overpowering. A great pick-me-up to go with the meal. Final thoughts: The presentation was stunning across the board, and everything tasted as good as it looked. Service was friendly, and the ambiance felt cozy yet modern. Definitely adding this to my "must-return" list!
Stax is hands-down our favorite spot for brunch! Everything here is all so good and delicious. Friendly service and cozy ambiance. They have their special menu updated regularly, so there's always something new for you to try. Their lattes never disappoint us! There's a free parking lot in the plaza. This place could get super busy during peak time!
Went here for some brunch fun! We didn't have to wait for a table and although the outside was closed, they sat us near a window which was open and nice! The Brunch roll was definitely the hit of the morning, it was such a fun idea and so delicious! We also had the Japanese cakes and they were so good and fluffy I've never had anything like them! They switch the toppings weekly so make sure to ask before you just order, todays was tres leches! A little too much dairy for us but it was still yummy so we got it as a side! For everything (cakes, roll, potatoes, and two drinks) it was $52! That atmosphere was great, I do wish they had booths, but it was spread out enough to where we didn't feel like we were on top of other tables. The only thing that would be a cherry on top for this place is if they had mimosas or a drink menu! We found ourselves wishing they did and it would be a perfect place for it! Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a fun local brunch spot Pros: food was yummy, price not too bad, fun ambiance Cons: no mimosas ): no booths, a little warm and stuffy
We were on our way to Holdmel today when we stumbled upon this cute, small breakfast spot, Stax, in Marlboro. We didn't make a reservation, and since it was a Sunday morning, the place was busy, which we expected. The server told us it would take about 25 minutes for a table, so we patiently waited until they called us in. Once we sat down, our server greeted us and asked for our drink orders. We went with coffee and fresh orange juice to start. I was a bit indecisive, torn between the Egg and Rice Bombs and the Hi-End Ruffle, but our server was really sweet and recommended the Egg and Rice. I decided to go with her suggestion and also ordered the Japanese Pancake. The Egg and Rice Bombs were very carb-heavy, which was fine, but I got full pretty quickly because they were mixed with eggs and tomato soup. Unfortunately, the combination didn't sit well with my stomach, but I'm glad I tried it. As for the Japanese Pancake, it was soft and fluffy on the outside, but when we got to the center, it became a bit tough and bready. We were also a bit disappointed there weren't enough fruits on top. I had been looking forward to it, but it ended up being just okay. Overall, the place is nice, and the service was good. If I'm in the area again, I might give something else a try!
A solid Saturday brunch spot :) Our friend was really set on trying Stax so we decided to check it out this past weekend. Our party of 3 waited maybe 15-20 minutes at most before being whisked away to our table. The place has a nice vibe! Family friendly, tons of spacious seating (Nott back to back, horribly crowded), and decent music. Note: It did get a tinge too loud at times, but we assumed that was the wait staff enjoying their Sabrina Carpenter lol - live and let live ;) As for the food, I'd say prices were decent for the offering / serving size. We ordered 3 meals to share, plus pesto fries. Managed to finish it all off. - Hi End Truffle: Not overtly memorable. Enjoyed the mushrooms and eggs which were cooked perfectly. Not too strong a truffle taste (great in my books because I don't care for too much truffle). Wouldn't necessarily order again. - Japanese style pancakes: OK, not overly sweet, a bit more dense than expected. The whipped cream on top was the best part of it, with it's sweet, buttery flavor - Smashed Potatoes Skillet: This was my pick, and if you like savory breakfast dishes, this will be a winner! Can't go wrong! Super flavorful. Just needed to add hot sauce, and it was perfect. - Pesto Fries: So delicious, can't go wrong! As for the drinks, everyone was happy :) I ordered the Dulche de Leche latte (iced). I would ABSOLUTELY order again! Sweet and satisfying...paired perfectly with the meal! We were so busy catching up we wouldnt have noticed if service was lacking. But i can assure you, that was NOT the case. We had a lovely waitress who checked in a few times to make sure we were OK :) All in all, I'd definitely recommend a trip to Stax. They have a vast menu (regular + seasonal). You'll be sure to find something to enjoy!
I thought I'd try this place again as the last time I came here was when it first opened. Unfortunately, I ran into the same problem which was service. Our waitress hardly stopped at our table to check in as well as took a while to welcome us to take our order. Meanwhile the restaurant was only half full with plenty of other tables arriving after us and leaving before us. My salmon dish tasted delicious but a couple hours later I became violently ill and it went all the way until the next day. I know it had to be this dish as it was the only thing I ate that day I'm really sad I've had bad experiences here as it is right around the corner.
Drove an hour to this place on a Saturday afternoon. The place is in a shopping mall and was easy to find. The place wasn't packed either. We were quickly seated and ordered drinks. An orange juice and a s'mores hot chocolate. Both were good. For our meals we had the ol school breakfast that cane with eggs, home fries, and toast. The Japanese pancakes. ( flavors change weekly). This wee was lychee flavor, i got it on the side. And we ordered a special which was churro waffle french toast. The food took about 25 min to come out. Everything looked delicious. The churro french toast waffle was extremely dry. The "Japanese" pancake was defiantly not that. It was like two brick like pancakes that were very heavy and dense. The best part was the cream on the pancakes. I only ate half of one. The ol school platter was average. This place has potential. I would come back and order something different.

Breakfast/brunch spots are always a welcome addition to any neighborhood. Stax is exactly that with a menu consisting of all the heavy hitter items. I went with the waffle which was simple and well made. The pancakes were also freshly made but kind of dry. They allow you to get the blueberries in the pancakes or on them... I got both! The bacon was one of the better things we had even though it is simple. Nothing better than bacon! Stax is one of those places that will continue to pump out solid breakfast items. It is a slight step up from the diner but won't blow you out of the water. Not sure I will be back but I wish them luck. read more
I went here on a Sunday with a reservation that I had made that same morning and luckily I did because the place was super busy.. the waitress was very good but a new barista had just started so there a 30min delay in my latte ... the food also took about an hour to arrive with that being said the flavors were in point loved the chorizo with sweet potatoes dish and the bens maduro would absolutely recommend those 2 dishes. The chicken and waffles were just ok the waffle had no flavor and I wished they would serve it a flavored butter or sauce it was pretty dry, the salmon Benedict was also ok hollandaise was a very small dollop and the consistency was thick.. I didn't care for the home fries because it didn't have any seasoning just fried with some peppers... the place is not that big and it's all open and loud.. maybe on a different day during the week the service could be better or maybe they need a better lead in the kitchen read more

Met a friend for brunch/lunch, trying Stax for the first time in my desperate, never ending quest for good food here in Jersey. For the most part this was a very nice experience. Cheerful, vibrant staff happily greeted me upon arrival (they seemed to mean it) and the place itself is cute and unpretentious. Friend had the DIY omelette with marble rye toast. He said it was very good and would definitely return. I went with the Marlboro Melt, a grilled cheese sandwich featuring bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado and cheddar. Was terrific. The sandwich was built beautifully with a generous helping of both the bacon and avocado which of course, are the two stars of the show here. It comes with a side salad or fries - obviously got the fries. Got it with the fries but my strong suggestion is to stick with the side salad instead. Fries were barely cooked through - odd considering the very long period of time between ordering and receiving our food (odder still given we were the only ones inside at the time) and just not really worth the calories. Additionally, ordered disco fries for some separate fun and these were um, embarrassing. So much so I won't share the pic of those (returned without eating, actually that bad) because ultimately, I liked my time at Stax and it's the kind of place you root for. Just don't get the French fries. Adding to the experience was our server, whose name I believe was Alessandra. She was absolutely terrific. Energetic, friendly, knowledgeable and genuinely interested in guests enjoying both their time and meal. A fun menu and setup support this place where it is easy to feel comfortable. Stax means something that is mind blowingly cool! The food is plated in very extraordinary ways so I would say they got it right! There is a new sign that says under new management but I have never been here before so there was nothing to compare except the food! Ben's Maduro is a masterpiece that looked so good that I didn't want to eat it! There were layers of flavors going on with the sweet and salty and the feta cheese adding another dimension as well as the red spicy sauce around the plate. The chorizo had its own spiciness as well! I had the eggs scrambled but now I know this culinary concoction is a hidden Benedict so get sunny side up so the ooey gooey egg goodness will blend nicely into this dish. A split sweet plantain with skin on, that looks either boiled or baked is underneath the chorizo. Then the two eggs and your choice of style. Micro greens topped the eggs and some chunks of avocado were also in the mix. I also tasted the Japanese pancakes and they were eggy and more spongelike then fluffy! The fruit for the pancakes was a blueberry compote. Everyone's food looked good and so did the hot and cold lattes I saw. Lots of families and young teens like it here! Noise level is high! There are only two bathrooms here so sometimes the lines can be long. Tip: bring cash! You'll be charged a 3% fee if you charge! read more

I've come twice: once when they first opened and just a couple weeks back. Their avocado toast is the best I've had, it's creamy, savory and a good portion size! This time I tried out their Santa Freehold, It was okay. I recommend their breakfast or brunch plates! read more

New spot great food great people great service. Went with the family for breakfast and noticed all guidelines for safety and cleanliness were observed. Social distancing, disinfecting etc. check all the boxes. Now for the food, everything was delicious. 5 happy people doesn't happen often! Everyone loved their meal and the place was hopping. TRY THE CHICKEN AND WAFFLES. TRUST ME The only downside was the wait, but with everything going on with covid you have to take the good w the bad and that just means STAX and staff are keeping us safe. Thanks for the great food and service. This is a spot we will travel to eat regularly! read more

Great vibe, great service, and fantastic food! Staff are extremely friendly, they had fun with my kids, gave us great recommendations on what to try, and checked in on us often. We've been very selective about eating out since COVID but now we feel great about adding STAX to our favs list. Besides the food & service, they clearly put emphasis on keeping everything safe and clean. read more

New Resturant with a great breakfast menu. The staff was very Friendly and accommodating my party was seated quickly. I ordered traditional eggs Benedict it was really great. I usually don't give out 5 stars on the first try but I'm betting on this place to succeed read more
Cute breakfast place , the menu has the perfect amount of choices. Some breakfast places could be very overwhelming but they really have the best choices on the menu. I ordered grilled chicken with cous cous mix, goat cheese and vinaigrette. The amount of olives destroyed the meal for me. I just felt like that was all I was eating. My friend ordered a sandwich I forget what kind but she absolutely loved it. I definitely would go back to this restaurant and bring the kids the next time. read more

Went there for Brunch with the family for the first time and must say that we were all impressed. Food was delicious but what made our experience perfect was the service. Stopped here with my son and was pleasantly surprised. The pancakes were hearty (the kid had the Oreo pancakes ). The omelette was excellent the right fluffiness and packed with goodness. Owners are right there making things happen. Definitely a place to eat a great breakfast. Come early so you won't have to wait too long for a table. read more

My wife had the classicand i had the strawberry fields cheesecake pancakes. The pancakes are huge and thick maybe 1/2 inch. I prefer thin pancakes but my wife loved these fluffy version. Strawberry cheesecake pancakes get you the same pancakes but mine were dripping in a light creamy cheese sauce along with the strawberries. That combination was so good and sweet. One interesting tidbit was that my wife ordered for $1.50 more, real maple syrup while i got the standard maple syrup. I am not a syrup consoeur but i didnt taste the difference. The ambience was nice and the service perfect. read more

Decided to try this recently opened breakfast/brunch/lunch restaurant in my neighborhood. It is surprisingly spacious as a corner place in a strip mall with plenty of tables inside as well as outside. The staff is masked and social distancing observed. The staff is welcoming and attentive. For breakfast we tried the Ol' School (eggs, meat, potatoes, toast) and the Stax Benny. I, personally, loved the potatoes, which are lightly seasoned and include onions and red pepper. The hollandaise sauce on the Benny was not overpowering, allowing one to also enjoy the nicely poached egg and Canadian bacon. I also enjoyed the coffee. There are plenty of other offerings, covering all manner of tastes, so anyone can find something that suits their fancy for a meal. If there was one drawback, for me, it was that the portion size seemed small for the price. But I would need a return visit to try something else to see if that is true for other dishes. Perhaps I was just overly hungry for breakfast. read more
