I had a terrific experience at Station One and while I don't generally do Yelp reviews, I felt that this outfit really deserved one. I was down in HH for a bit over three weeks and saw that my "change oil" light flipped on the way down and as I had a lot of driving coming up - including driving back to Pennsylvania - I found Station One on the AAA recommendation list and booked an oil change there. They took my car at the appointed time, took care of the oil, and then did a safety check where they found a bubble on my passenger side rear wheel. They pointed out the problem, circled it in chalk, and told me that it was dangerous to drive on, and even gave me a quote for replacing the tire, or two tires. I don't know s*it about cars but I have great mechanics back home who I've trusted for over thirty years and after I got back to where we were staying I sent them a photo of the bubble on which you can actually see the bubble protruding, they absolutely agreed with the mechanics here and told me that under no uncertain terms that I could not drive back with any tire in that condition. They didn't even want me driving on any major highway until it was replaced. Plus, my guy says that the quoted price for replacement was very fair, that I wouldn't be doing better at home. Station One fit me in first thing in the morning allowing the plans for the rest of my day to go on as planned, they took about exactly the amount of time they told me to expect it to take and when they presented the bill it was less than the quotation. I can't thank them enough. We've all been reading about escalating tire prices and availability - they had access to what was needed overnight at a price that was more than reasonable. read more

The owner and his team here really went above and beyond on my service for my bmw. Much better service experience than I've gotten at other local facilities and less expensive as well. Bathrooms were also very clean which is rare in that industry and nice waiting area. They were able to fix it for less than others quoted and do it quicker than expected. read more

They were able to quickly fix a tire issue that we had while in HHI on vacation, and it was reasonably priced.

I pulled into station 1 on friday with an oil leak. I had just had my oil changed with my mechanic 2 weeks earlier. The mechanic told me not to drive it but they were closing and would reopen on Monday. So i had to leave my car. On monday morning they told me it was an oil casket. ( it could be $1000!) I had my car towed to my mechanic and he told me it was a faulty air filter. NO CHARGE! can you believe how station one tried to ripe me off!!!! stay away from here. read more

Bonnie recommended that I do a maintenance tune-up and a/c flush. When I picked up my car later that afternoon, I found that the engine was sputtering. It was the end of the day, I had no time to return it to the mechanic so I went home and reported the problem the next day. After 2 return visits and waits (1 visit was over an hour and still no help- I'm coming from Buck Walter...a long way), the mechanic couldn't figure out what the problem was. Of course all he did was hook it up to the computer which told him nothing. He didn't bother checking the idle or new spark plugs etc. He just came into the waiting room and I said 'you make it sputter'. In summary, I found that Ken and the mechanic, unhelpful, rude and condescending. My car went in running fine and came out with an engine sputter that they can't diagnose. In my opinion, the result of a weak try. After spending $700.00+ on maintenance that has questionable quality. read more

I can't say enough about the service at this shop! I took my car to the dealer as I knew I would be driving to HHI for vacation. The local dealer in Richmond did not diagnose or fix the noise from my car. I drove down and explained the noise to Ken and he knew that it was likely a wheel bearing. He was right and fixed it the next day despite the mechanic having to go to the hospital. These guys were recommended by a friend who lives on the island and he was correct. The car is running great. If I could give it zero stars I would. My boyfriend and I drove down fro Philadelphia to Hilton Head Island. However we had gotten and inspection done before we drove down to make sure that the car was okay to drive 600+miles. Our home mechanic said "no problem" A couple days after we arrived on the island a weird noise started coming from the right sir of the car. We decided to take it in. Not only did they dick us around for a good 2 hours. They completely lied to us and told us the noise was coming from the transmission. It went on the lift for them to see what what wrong. They told us the water pump was cracked and that we needed a new transmission. We decided on the water pump ($500) and get it fixed. It took them a whole 2 days (3 people missed their flights) after they had promised us only a few hours. The man who worked on our car basically just clinged and clanged his way around the car. After we got it fixed. We drove less than 30 miles away and then the splash guard to his radiator snapped in half. We pulled over, not only was the splash guard snapped in half, 4 of his 12 screws were missing and 2 of the 12 had been stripped. I called the service center and I got on the phone with the man who fixed my car. Not only did he lie to me about "fixing the car to be pristine" he even told me the owner took it for a spin. So tell me how the mechanic didn't see that the splash guard was cracked when he was on the lift. Not only that as I was trying to explain, of course I was heated. He replied to me saying "once you stop yelling and stop being a BITCH you can call me back and we'll handle it" I've worked in customer service for 8 years. Not only was that unprofessional, the mechanic clearly didn't know what he was doing and deserves to have a bar of soap lodge into his throat. The front desk man Jerry was awesome. He should work somewhere else. I would LOVE to see the mechanic who "fixed" my car again. All I know is that we are suing him. read more

I stopped by to buy gas and also purchase a car wash. When I tried going through the car wash it didn't work. I went in to the convenience store to ask for assistance. The 2 ladies working on 2/19 around 9:30 in the morning were 2 of the rudest customer service people I have ever experienced. They accused me of trying to reuse the car wash voucher and then after much back and forth they finally gave me a new code to use and told me they would never do it again. Well, they don't have to worry about that because I will never go back. Those 2 ladies need to find a job where they don't interact with customers!!!! read more

This place uses an automated rip off system. I called in for an oil change, checking to see if they had Mobil 1 0-20W, which they claimed that they carried. I sat there for an hour when someone comes in with a case of my oil containing 5 of the six quarts. I get my bill ($152, which is a rip off as it is for any oil) and notice that they charged me for 6.5 quarts of oil. Having changed my oil for years I can tell you that the car always takes 5 quarts. When confronted with this, they claimed that the manufacturer shows that my car takes 6.4 quarts and his people did not tell him any different. This would be true if that were the first time oil were put into the system. Everyone knows that oil remains in the engine when you drain it, in my case about 1.4 quarts. Therefore, if you go to this place it is a guarantee that you will be ripped off every time. read more

This garage not only did not fix my car properly, but they reconnected the parts so poorly that 60 miles down the road my engine incurred unsafe oil pressure and almost blew my engine gaskets out. This was explained to me by an excellent audi dealership. Their lack of ability cost me over 1000 dollars since I was traveling across country and the repair they caused not only delayed me, but incurred hotel bills. I have been in a dispute with them for the past six months over $232. They are also arrogant. They taught me to appreciate the care that a dealership provides. Dealerships are more expensive upfront, but not when you actually get quality service. Do Not Go Here. This is the only review I have ever written about anyone. Had a great experience with Station One. Our care broke down while on vacation and had it towed to Station One. I had diagnosed the problem as a failed alternator, but these guys discovered the problem as a blown A/C relay. While many people could have replaced the alternator and then claimed they also found an A/C problem, they were straight up and charged me less than half of the originally quoted repair. Nice to know that there are still honest repair shops around. Thanks to Jerry and the guys at Station One for getting us back to enjoying our vacation! Highly recommend them! read more

Was on vacation to Hilton Head from the Upstate of South Carolina. Had a loud scraping noise in the front drivers side. Ken and his tech determined it sounds like a bad left front wheel bearing assembly. Recommended to do both sides since my 2008 Toyota Tundra had 180k on it. When the tech went getting a closer look to start the repair, found the left front wheel lug nuts were loose. Not sure how they came loose but the vehicle is fixed with no major repair except retorque the nuts. Instead of paying $780 for the repaired, only charged me $32 for diagnostic. For being out-of -town and on vacation, Ken and his tech were honest and didn't take advantage of me. Super nice. 5 stars all the way. read more

I'm an incredibly grateful to Bonnie and Catherine for saving our beach trip! I traveled to HHI with my newly widowed mom and my sister for a getaway weekend only to find a screw lodged in my tire on Saturday afternoon. I knew that finding an auto store who could fix it on a busy weekend would be next to impossible. I found Station One on Yelp. The post said they would be closing in 50 minutes but I gave them a call anyhow. Bonnie said, come on in! The shop was just 2.6 miles from where we were staying so I hopping in the car and drove straight there. Catherine had me fixed up in 20 minutes and I had such a nice chat with Bonnie while I waited. Such incredible customer service!!! To top it off, I realized when I got back to our condo that Catherine had moved all of the beach chairs and our beach wagon from my backseat back into my trunk after having to move them to get the spare tire. I was blown away! Thank you for patching my tire up so quickly and for saving our family vacation!! read more

Fast, reasonably priced, courteous service - what more could you ask for? I showed up without an appointment, and the mechanics quickly had my car on a lift. After a half-hour, I was back on the road for a very fair price. The waiting room was clean and comfortable, with AC and free wifi. Needed brakes done on my 2011 BMW X-5 so I started shopping around for a ballpark price. Called Station One and the gentleman I spoke to quoted between $270-$340 for pads and rotors. This after I explicitly told him the year, make and model of my car. I made the appointment to bring the car in the next morning. I dropped the car off and they insisted upon doing an inspection first ($32 with tax), "to insure it's not something else". Funny, the dashboard told me I needed a brake job. At any rate about an hour later I got a call saying my estimate was in excess of $800 for front pads, rotors and a $20 abs sensor. Needless to say I was very unhappy, and I was told it was so expensive because I needed my car back that day. If I could leave it overnight they could search for cheaper parts. I said search... got a call back quoting $540 this time. Feel like it was a "bait and switch". I've now wasted two hours, my car is on the lift and I still need brakes. Called around some more, got a firm quote $100 cheaper and picked my car back up. They still nicked me the $32 for a bogus inspection. What a racquet. read more
