    Castle Lodge Hotel

Avoid!!!!!!!!…read more absolutely embarrassing! No recepetion, left us outside for 50 minutes ended up arguing on the phone waiting for a key code. No private toilet or shower or anything!!!!!! Old cheap furniture, no working light by the mirror in the room, no mirror in the bathroom, broken and cracked ceiling, tiles have not been finished in the bathroom properly, black mould around the shower tray, exposed boarding in the shower room Where the laminated wood has rotted!!! £80+ for a Wednesday night?!?! Are you having a laugh!!!!! Nothing close by either! the Woman on the phone let her different personalities take over, one being polite and the next being rude as anything! It's not even worth a measley £10 a night! Absolutely pathetic! Avoid!!!!!!

Small lodge with pot luck rooms. Some seem fine. Some are so small and have such low ceilings you…read moreneed to contort yourself to move around. The shared toilet and shower room on the second floor is terrible; mildew, broken flush and peeling paint. The shared bathroom on the first floor is cleaner. Rooms are of questionable cleanliness. There's a few mysterious stains that'll keep you entertained figuring out what the are. Mattress was actually fairly comfortable, the one pillow each wasn't (cheap gone lumpy Ikea one). Doors are very sqeaky, as are floors (very old building) and shared shower very loud. Along with the print outs of how to behave and clean up after yourself, it gives it an air of student bed sits. Just to note, breakfast (which (possibly) isn't included in price, all very vague when booking) ends at 8.30 am. Last orders taken at 8.15.

Olde Griffin Hotel - Never tried this before but it was delicious!

Ye Olde Griffin Hotel is everything you'd want from a classic British pub with a few unexpected…read morebonuses that make it stand out. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warm, friendly staff who go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The food is top-notch great portions, great quality, and very reasonably priced. Whether you're popping in for a casual bite or treating yourself to one of their TWO yes TWO mouth-watering carveries on a Wednesday or Sunday you won't be disappointed. Entertainment? They've got it covered. Monday night quiz is a laugh, Tuesday night bingo brings the energy, Saturday night has a live DJ to get you moving, and Sunday karaoke is always a blast (whether you're singing or just watching with a pint in hand). The location is spot-on, and the atmosphere is cozy yet lively perfect for meeting with mates or just enjoying a quiet meal. The bar is well-stocked, the drinks are affordable, and there's a real community feel that's hard to find these days. Highly recommended if you're in the area or even if you're not. Worth the trip!

Worth three and a half stars, but not up to being a four star place, this is a very comfortable, if…read morea little old fashioned, hotel located in the centre of March. Theres really very little negative to say about the Griffin - they're very good at what they do, and unlike many hotels, they're high on customer service, but its also nothing too special, and for the prices they charge, you can find better for your money, and probably better for less money too. On the positive side, the staff are superb, the rooms are comfortable, and the food is very good. Their conference facilities are pretty good, if unspectacular. The bar is cosy, and as March is a town where outsiders are still burned at the stake, its much better to stay there than brave the town. The only reservation I have is the prices they charge. If you're on company business then its a decent place to stay, but if its a personal stay, there are more cost effective places around.

It's right behind a used car lot on an Industrial Estate, just off a roundabout. Nice enough when…read moreyou walk in to Reception but when you head towards the rooms it smells musty and damp. The room is no frills. Water pressure is awful...barely enough to flush the toilet and not enough to get soap out of your hair when showering. There are snacks and bottled drinks set out on a room tray but chargeable if you use them. Also...Be advised. Even when you have paid for your room in full they ask for and additional £25 on your card as a deposit I queried this as the room is paid for but they said they cannot rent the room to us unless we do this.... it's for a bar tab or any extras they said...explains the tray of chargeable choices in your room. I was assured you get the £25 back on checkout or what you have left in credit. That didn't prove to be true. When we checked out they said it takes up to 14 days....you have to keep an eye out for it and possibly chase it up.Breakfast is 6:30 to 10:30 and bar is open 24 hours. Cutlery and dishes not clean...spoons in room were still sticky yuck....They called us shortly after we booked to confirm the room details.... we had paid for breakfast....he said they couldn't see that from Booking.com but he arranged for it and was very polite. I got the impression it is cheaper to book with the hotel directly as it was mentioned that its considered a B&B if you have it through them and it's an add on through booking com. Wifi is free but unprotected. It's inaccurate for the star rating. Breakfast is not worth what is charged. TV reception not great either.
