Well we came to Gouda because I was curious how the city of cheese looks like, so we took the train from Rotterdam to Gouda.
This station is small and not only that, it sucks. There are no signs (at least none of us could see it) to tell you which train is heading where. There is no luggage storage. And worst of all, the staff at the info desk is not helpful at all. They're rude and dismissive, just in general, don't care. In Netherlands, either people are very friendly and helpful, or the other extreme end who are totally dicks. I found that quite interesting, and the staff at this station belong to the latter category.
There's one convenient store here located outside of the gate, same as the info desk, so you would need to card out to have access to it.
Don't plan on storing your luggage here because there is no locker. Do it in Rotterdam.
Tons of bikes right outside the station which can make quite a scene!
By the way Gouda is pronounced as GAO-dah with a hard G like something is lodged in your throat and you're about to choke. The Dutch guy at the cheese weighing station was not happy when I said it in the foreigner way... read more
