I engaged with Leslie Hamilton twice recently. First for the purchase of my new home, and then in…read morethe sale of my previous home. The home I was purchasing is in a new development and was still being completed during the purchase process. We had so many questions regarding the builder, the builder's lawyer, our own mortgage broker, etc., and for every question we had, Leslie told us not to worry and that she would handle it. And she did. By the time we got to closing, all of our questions were answered and the details were all worked out. I returned to Leslie for the sale of my previous home, and my experience was identical. Leslie handled all of the details, and was excellent at explaining everything to me throughout the process. She made sure that I understood everything I needed to do along the way. The closing process was straightforward and handled efficiently and professionally by Leslie. I found that Leslie was both a joy to work with, and as tenacious as she needed to be to complete the purchase and sale of my homes. I will highly recommend Leslie, and Hamilton & Hamilton to anyone that needs a great real estate attorney.

As a medical resident, it's really hard finding anyone in the real estate world to understand our time constraints, budget constraints, clinical pressures, lack of understanding of real estate, and life goals. I think being married to a physician herself gives her a very unique insight into how to really help busy families like ours that need he guidance and support through an otherwise nebulous process of buying or selling a home. I was surprised at how painless the process of selling was with Jacquelyne. She accommodated our schedules. She educated us. My husband and I hired Jacqueline as our lawyer when closing on our condo upon recommendation from…read moresomeone. BIG MISTAKE! We found her to be unprofessional and not client-oriented. We were first-time home buyers, and as such, had questions to fully understand the (loads!) of paperwork and the process. She didn't have the patience to carefully and thoughtfully answer our questions. I get that she must answer the questions we were asking day in and day out, but it's our first time. Sure she is knowledgeable, but isn't interested in making the client feel comfortable throughout the process - she more so just wants to get the job done. Its a quick, easy buck for her. Her email etiquette isn't that great her - I found hr emails to be rude and you tell her impatient tone in answering our questions. AND, she is isn't interested in negotiating on the client's behalf to make sure they get the best possible deal; instead, she is more interested in how she is going to come off if she asks for something of the seller. None of what we were asking was crazy, but as buyers we wanted the best deal possible. I wouldn't use her again and wouldn't recommend her, unless you have a high tolerance for people being rude and condescending to you.

I'm using my wife's yelp account to write this review:…read more We hired Attorney Vaughn-Martel after a civil lawsuit was filed against me by an ex-girlfriend over ownership rights to a vehicle I had solely purchased during a 4+ year relationship. An injunction/ court order was filed against me stating I was not to sell the vehicle until the case was heard before a judge. We hired Vaughn-Martel in hopes that he'd be able to assist in getting the court order lifted or get the case settled as quickly as possible as I was unable to afford payments on the vehicle and needed to sell it ASAP. After several months of negotiations between Vaughn-Martel and the plaintiff's attorney a Settlement Agreement was drafted by Vaughn-Martel's office and was forwarded to me for review and signature. I stated the Agreement was to my liking and was told that the Agreement would be sent out AS IS to the Plaintiff followed by me for signatures. Problems arose when I found out that after I had approved what I thought to be the FINAL draft of the Settlement Agreement that the Plaintiff's attorney had asked that a few changes be made and Attorney Vaughn-Martel's office to it upon themselves to make these changes without my knowledge, consent or even a discussion of such. When I contacted Attorney Vaughn-Martel to indicate my disproval of such changes I was told that there was nothing they could do to change the Agreement back as the revised Agreement had already been mailed out to the Plaintiff for signature. I was beyond irate at this point. To make matters worse, the Plaintiff was never able to obtain financing in order to follow through on the terms of the Settlement Agreement by purchasing the vehicle to pay off my loan (which I couldn't afford to pay and faced repossession of) and to compensate me for monies she had stolen via check fraud / forgery. After the Plaintiff had breached the Agreement by not coming up with the funds within the allotted time frame as per the Agreement terms, I was advised by Attorney Vaughn-Martel that selling the vehicle, paying off the loan and keeping the balance of the agreed upon sales amount for myself would be a "viable solution to complying with the agreement, getting rid of the car, and getting settlement funds, all in a way that protects (my) interests in the event (I) had to go in front of a judge." I followed my attorneys exact advice and sold the vehicle 2 days prior to the date it was to be repossessed. When I got in front of the judge though I was found in contempt of court for going against the imposed court order not to sell the vehicle. Attorney Vaughn-Martel never once stated that he had advised me to do such nor did he defend me in any sense of the word. He never tried to state facts and in no way stood up for me. He seemed to have no idea what to say in court and came across as being completely unprepared, incompetent, unprofessional and unknowledgeable of how to defend a client. He let me hang out to dry and when I confronted him prior to the next hearing for my punishment in front of the judge he totally denied ever having advised me to go against the court order. I even showed him his own email to me stating his advice and he still insisted he never advised such. He proceeded to state that it would be in my best interest to allow the civil case against me along with my counterclaims against her for stolen monies be dismissed as per the Plaintiff's request or the judge could punish me by making me pay her money for selling the car. I felt as though I was being coerced into settling the case because my attorney didn't want to have to explain himself to the judge as to why he advised his client to go against a court order. Due to being in fear of what the judge might fine/punish me with and knowing I had no more money and no real counsel on my side to defend me, I went against my rights, instincts and better judgement by agreeing to allow the case to be dismissed. I ended up with nothing more than destroyed credit & added debt due to racking up more than $6k in legal fees.....an amount far in excess of what Vaughn-Martel Law ever truly earned or deserved

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share our experience because purchasing a…read morehome is one of the biggest financial and emotional decisions a family can make. We hired attorney Nicole Torres during what became an incredibly stressful real estate transaction. We were facing serious inspection concerns, including extremely high radon levels, and were desperately trying to understand our rights and protect nearly $40,000 deposit being held of our hard-earned money. Instead of feeling reassured and guided through the process, we felt increasingly anxious and confused. We repeatedly asked questions because we were genuinely scared of making the wrong decision and losing our deposit. Rather than feeling like we had an advocate in our corner, we often felt dismissed when we questioned the advice we were being given. We were advised that our inspection contingency had expired (we later learned it had not) and that our deposit could be at risk if we did not continue moving forward. We were also led to believe that the radon issues did not give us grounds to terminate the contract as it was "not part of the inspection process" and that we had signed a contract "for inspection only". As buyers trying to navigate a complicated situation, we relied heavily on her advice and guidance. What was most disappointing was that when we expressed concerns or asked follow-up questions, we did not feel heard. The conversations often left us feeling more intimidated than informed. Eventually, our discomfort became so significant that we sought alternate legal counsel because we no longer felt confident that our interests were being fully protected. The second opinion we received gave us a very different understanding of our contractual rights and deadlines, including the ability to terminate the contract and get our deposit back, which proved that the advice we received from her was not accurate and would have cost us $40,000!!!

Five Stars Without Hesitation…read more I cannot speak highly enough about Attorney Michael Thaler and the incredible work he has done for me. From the very beginning, Michael approached my case with professionalism, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to achieving the best possible outcome. I was falsely accused of serious charges (assault and battery, strangulation and suffocation) and faced the terrifying weight of the criminal justice system. Michael stood by me every step of the way, giving me both confidence and clarity when I needed it most. In March 2025, he helped me close that criminal case entirely -- something I never thought would be possible given the circumstances. Today, we appeared in BMC Brighton for Stage 2 of my motion to seal the case, which was absolutely critical for my future as I am pursuing a professional license to practice pharmacy. Michael presented my reasons with such precision, clarity, and conviction that the Judge approved the sealing right then and there. It was a huge moment in my life, and I have Michael to thank for it. What makes Michael truly exceptional is not just his knowledge of the law, but his gift for communication. He knows exactly how to highlight the strongest points in a case and deliver them with both professionalism and heart. He is articulate, accurate, and always thoroughly prepared. Beyond that, he is approachable, friendly, and understanding of the personal and financial pressures his clients face -- even offering compassionate flexibility with installment payments when needed. If you are looking for an attorney who is not only a brilliant legal mind but also a dedicated advocate who truly cares about his clients, Michael Thaler is the one. He is the reason I now have the freedom and opportunity to move forward with my career and my life. I would recommend Attorney Thaler without hesitation to anyone in Massachusetts facing a criminal case. He is hands down one of the best, and I am forever grateful for the way he fought for me.
