A longtime Tampa vacuum business for 71 years. Started by Bernie Epstein, now operated by son David. Selling all types of vacuum, shampoo, and cleaning machines and products. They carry the Hoover brand which one was once more expensive and a quality durable aluminum vacuum made in Ohio. Remember your mother or grandmother had one? Now priced about $200 and made of plastic in China and typically not repairable if broken. The Miele Vacuum is a high quality German product they sell which is durable and long lasting. Of course, if you don't do your own cleaning, no need to stop here. My wife and I have traded here over the years and very satisfied with products and service. If you go in to buy, do your homework and research first so you can get a fair deal. read more

I ordered a new electric hose for my 12 year old Miele vacuum. State Vacuum of Tampa had a great price and they shipped it to me. It arrived in just a few days and I'm very pleased with the transaction. Highly recommend this company! read more

I find good products that I don't know about elsewhere. They service what they sell and others. I've been going back for 20 years.

Online: sold me vacuum bags that don't exist. When I called a few weeks later, they said that they'd call me back. Didn't. Called again today (two days later): the bags don't exist: said they'd refunded me a two days ago (they didn't contact me to let me know this). PayPal doesn't show a refund yet. I believe that if I hadn't called, they would have just kept my money and sent nothing. Don't shop here unless you can go into the store in person. read more

State Vacuum - Bags listed for sale on their web site that don't exist. - Home & Garden Near Me - Tampa, Florida

Has to be one of the most bizarre online shopping experiences I've ever gone through. Placed an order for a vacuum we wanted online, as they were one of the few retailers that had it left. Received a call from the store about an hour later telling me they couldn't process the order because my Billing Address and Shipping Address are different. I literally purchase well over $100K/ month in supplies for our business, always with the same Billing Address (our headquarters is in Michigan), and I've never had a Retailer refuse to sell me something. If this was something so irregular or atypical, why would retailers give you the option to put different addresses for Shipping and Billing. The gentleman who gave me a call was absolutely clueless and perplexed by this and accused me of being fraudulent. Sorry my business has multiple locations. I would avoid this company and I will certainly be spreading the word for the type of customer service you can expect when shopping here. You should not be in the business of selling products online. read more

David was great. I made the dumb mistake of buying a vacuum on Amazon that broke in less than two years. David helped me find a high quality replacement and spent a lot of time with me. Highly recommend State Vacuum. read more

This business is legit! They are kind and polite, which in this day and age, goes pretty far with me. I was in a bind and needed some vac bags for a client's home- they had them in stock, held them for me & greeted me upon my entry for pickup like we were old Friends. Fast forward....Same day- same vac, we had a problem with the latch on the Miele & they tended to it ASAP with a smile and lighting fast service. read more

I'll give them 3 stars since I have purchased vacuum bags from them when they were at their previous Kennedy location without issue; although today, they were not very helpful. I called to inquire about a vacuum hose for my aging and deteriorating Eureka Pet Lover vacuum. They transferred me to the "parts department" and I spoke to a very kind gentleman who indicated that they don't stock those parts anymore but that if I brought it by, he would look at it and see what he could do for no charge. I thought, well that is really nice of him and I live only a couple of blocks away. So I grabbed my pet vacuum and hopped in the car. I pulled up probably no more than 10 minutes after speaking with the gentleman. When I arrived, an older gentleman (not the one I had spoken to on the phone) stated that Eureka changed ownership and that they do not carry the hose for that vacuum. I told him that I called and the man I spoke with said that he would take a look at the vacuum. He said that 5 people work there and that he is looking at it and simply cannot do anything for me. It was essentially a waste of a trip - the man on the phone seemed to be eager and optimistic, and this guy just gave me a complete dead end, without any option to see or speak with the man I'd spoken to on the phone. I am just glad that I did not have to drive far, since I was back in my car within a few minutes and in the same boat. Buy your parts online, don't waste your time. read more

State Vacuum knows their vacuums! A couple years ago my husband and I decided that we were tired of buying inexpensive vacuum cleaners every other year so we decided to invest in a high end vacuum cleaner. After researching several brands we decided on a Dyson model and went to State Vacuum to make our purchase. When we entered the store we told the sales guy that we wanted to purchase a great vacuum cleaner and told him which Dyson model we wanted to buy. His reply back to us? "Do you want to buy a great vacuum cleaner or do you want to buy a Dyson?" At this point I am sold. This guy isn't trying to sell us the most expensive or most popular model on the floor. He really wants to sell us a quality product. The sales guy then proceeds to introduce us to the Miele vacuum cleaner. Like the Dyson, the model had all the bells and whistles that we were looking for, but you could tell the Miele was a much sturdier vacuum. Although my husband preferred the canister model I chose the upright model because I do the majority of the vacuuming in our household. The model is around 10 lbs. so it is easy for me to maneuver the vacuum around the house. The Miele wasn't cheap and came with a $700 price tag, but if we service the vacuum every year we shouldn't ever have to ever buy another vacuum. My mother-in-law has had her Miele vacuum for almost thirty years now! Oh, the Dyson model that we were originally going to buy? My in-laws have the same model at their vacation home in Sarasota. They hate the vacuum. The attachments are always falling off and the vacuum doesn't clean the floors that well anymore even though the vacuum has been regularly serviced and my in-laws only use the vacuum for 4 months out of the year. We also purchased our air purifier from State Vacuum - another purchase that I absolutely love! These might not be the cheapest guys in town, but they are the most honest, knowledgeable and friendly sales guys I know! read more

I have had my Oreck for 30 years and thanks to State Vacuum, I presume for years to come. I do the yearly maintenance and if there is ever an issue, they are quick to repair and return. For those of you shopping for a vacuum, do yourself a favor and get one from them. Even used, they will be "like new". They don't make machines like they used to - to last. State Vacuum is awesome in every way, great prices, excellent customer service, and quick turn around. read more

I live far from any Miele dealer, for instance, 3 hours worth from State Vacuum. I brought the power head from my Miele canister and explained to their repair tech that the drive belt and drive gear were stripped. He replaced the belt and said the gear was fine. I had previously taken the head apart and saw the gear, which is plastic, had been smashed down by the belt slipping and wearing it down. He apparently didn't do the same thing but insisted there was nothing wrong with it. I stupidly deferred to his "vast" experience and left with the head, got home, started it and got the same screeching and...nothing - of course nothing, the drive gear is stripped. I called back and got the tech who told me how great it worked there. He didn't make the effort to take it apart as I did but did expend a lot of effort arguing with me and letting me know he didn't care what I said or how far a drive it was. So summary: long drive + incompetence + lost time + lost money + rude reaction + ignoring being told "exactly" what needed to be fixed yet not bothering to take the thing apart and do it right = me NEVER going back to State Vacuum. read more

I've been going to State Vacuum for years. I've got a rental property in Tampa and come back to maintain it and keep it up to date. Dave and his son Joe are a great team. They've helped me with vacuums, kitchen appliances, repairs, and recently a central vac system. You can tell how much they care about their customers, and the wall of fame of Tampa history and their family is always a treat to see. Smal businesses are the best! read more

This establishment has certainally withstood the test of time. It has been in the same location on Kennedy Blvd. for as long as I can remember. It is a quaint shop, full of, what else vacum & a few other items. I have used State for years. They can repair & keep your favorite vacum going for as long as possible. When the day comes, that it is no longer an option to repair, they got you covered. Their inventory is extensive & the sales staff is up to date & quite knowlegeable. I listen to suggestion, statistics & mechanical differences & then I chose my last vacum, with their blessing. I love my new vacum & know I will be happy with it for years to come. What's a girl to do? Unfortunately sometimes old vacum have to be let go of, but life does go on! read more

Have to say I remember going to State Vacuum at Kennedy & Henderson with my parents as far back as the 60s and I'm still going there and now hooking up my daughter with vacuums. You just can't beat this place. Carter White, Tampa Florida read more

I just called and said: "I am looking for a vacuum cleaner belt and I have the part# gates 231-3gt-6, do you carry belts?" The man that answered the phone asked what brand, I said Shark, he asked, the fish like swims in the water or shark like the vacuum cleaner? I replied, do you think I am calling about a belt for a fish? He replied, I'm trying to figure out if you are calling about a fish, a shark or a vacuum cleaner. I told him he's not smart enough to ask any questions of and then I just hung up. I hope he is not the owner and the owner finds out he has an idiot answering their phone. read more

I bought one of their sale vacuums just after their move. It had two problems which required two trips. Both times I felt good about coming into the store and talking with David. My little vacuum was repaired without any fuss or drama. Very pleasant people and excellent service. read more

They immediately steered me in the right direction the price was right very friendly staff

I took my well used Miele in because it had a cracked hose as well as several other broken/worn parts. The cost to repair it was almost as much as a new one so I opted to purchase a new vacuum. David showed me several Sebo vacuums, and I decided on the Sebo Automatic X7. It has a variety of attachments, as well as a 10 yr warranty. I used it as soon as I got home. It did a great job on my tile as well as my carpeting. Very friendly and helpful staff. Keep this place in mind if you ever need a new vacuum or service. read more

Great professional services from repairs to new top line residential and commercial vacuums.

Remembered this place was here when my beloved partner in crime "Dyson "sounded funny these past few days. I've had this little bullet for a few years and use it multiple times a day since rechargeable. All the times I've driven past this place, I've never thought to come in. Today I called to see if they can repair my dyson and they said yes, as well as provide free quotes. The repair guy pulled her trigger and knew immediately what it would take to get her running just as the day I bought her. The little love of my life will only cost $49 to fix since it just needs a tune up. Wiping sweat off the forehead ...Whew... I'd hate to have to buy another one since these little suckers don't come cheap. While there I scoped the place out. Not sure why because I came up with a laundry list of items I now want. This place is perfect for any cleaning service to pick up supplies as well as equipment. Decent prices, knowledgeable and friendly staff. read more

Terrible customer service, don't go if you have a repair or want to buy a vac cleaner! They refused to give us an estimate on the repair of our Dyson, they are absolutely rude and way overpriced. Piss poor people to do business with! read more

Fantastic experience with the folks at State Vacuum! Needed a vac that would help with allergies. After researching online & talking within a few manufacturers, I was almost ready to purchase a unit on Amazon. Once I saw that this shop had same price, I called with lots of questions. They were very patient and thorough with suggestions. Later that day, I popped by the shop with a few more questions. Enjoyed talking with several staff members and ended up purchasing a quality vac with hepa filter, extra attachments & a good warranty. Everyone at state vacuum went above and beyond to help & I'm very satisfied with the machine purchased. Highly recommend. read more

What a great shopping experience. This is truly like going back in time. They have a great selection of vacuums, air purification systems and associated supplies. The sales people are helpful and incredibly knowledgable about their wares. You can try before you buy, right in the store with the exact model you want to buy. They will assemble it for you for free and take it to your car if you need the assistance. Absolutely no pressure, just helpful advice. They service what they sell and have all of the accessories you could need. I've bought three vacuums from them - the last two were Miele and they are awesome. They have been in business for 66 years and there are many reasons why that will continue. Highly recommend! read more

Joe and Dave are total pros, they give great service and run a team of the most knowlegable people around. I've been buying and doing repairs with them for as long as I can remember and they are second to none. read more

Last time I was in Tampa visiting family, I wanted to treat my grandmother to a new vacuum because hers was not doing the job anymore. Joe & David could not have been more helpful and honest. They didn't try to sell me something that my grandmother didn't need. They made sure that I took a card for my grandmother so she could call if she had any questions. I never thought I would say that buying a vacuum was delightful, but it was! They have many other appliances and offer repairs, which I will definitely keep in mind. Thanks State Vacuum! read more

Each time I came in I was promptly greeted. 3 visits total before I made my purchase. David met me even though they were closing the store. David helped each time. ( The other sales person was nice too ). He took his time showing me canister vacuums and answered my questions. I was looking for value and ease of use. Royal brand was the value. Miele was top of the line. I consulted consumer reports and compared their top rated model which was Kenmore. I went to Sears to compare it to the Miele. Big price difference. Hands down the Miele was worth the extra $$$. No regrets.cons of Kenmore; poor quality plastic, has dirty vacuum smell when turned on,does not swivel, does not follow behind you,too LOUD, too heavy, head too big. Miele, Quiet,no smell, foot on and off, retractable cord, quality plastic, hose that isn't made of metal ( you will crush it if you step on it ) swivels, head cleans carpet and floors but you get a separate floor brush, follows behind, easy to use accessories. Shopped the Internet for price comparison and was able to keep my purchase Local. He put it together, made sure I purchased extra bags and carried it to my car. read more

I am a vacuum snob and I only take my Electroluxes to State Vacuum. THEY ARE NOT CHEAP, but they know what they are doing. That's all that counts for me. Just make sure you stay on top of your vacuum and call them in a week or so if you don't hear from them read more

I took my LG vac to this place a few months ago. They kept it for quite a while and then claimed they had told me to pick it up. In any case, it worked somewhat better when I got it back, but not a lot. I also noticed the filter area was not any cleaner than when I brought it in. Within a few weeks it was as bad as it was to start, and I started looking for a new vac. Then one day, I decided what the heck, I'll take it apart and see what i find. I found that they had obviously never even OPENED it, much less fix anything. The layers of crud in there showed it was never touched, and when I finally found what was clogging the intake I knew for sure, as the object was pretty old. I gave it a good cleaning like they should have, and fixed the problem. They get an F from me, for FAILURE TO DO ANYTHING. read more

Who Knew! State Vacuum also does low-voltage installations (sound systems, security cameras, TV, phone, and wifi). A friend referred me and I'm glad they did. They undercut the competition by more than 20%. Professional installation was fast and expertly done. I'd recommend them in a heart-beat. Start with State Vacuum and watch the competition fold. read more

I have purchased 3 different vacuums from State Vacuum for different applications and properties over the past 8 years. I most recently purchased a Miele canister vacuum for my tile and wood floors at my beach condo. I am very pleased with the purchase as it works as promised. State Vacuum matched all on-line pricing including Amazon so that is awesome. I also keep coming back because of their friendly service and expertise they share on the products they sell and service. I want to support local family businesses and I appreciate having State Vacuum service when I need something. When I come in I see the same people there as a few years before which says a lot about them as a business. I spoke to Reggie in service and he has been there more than 30 years! I think an employer that retains their staff for years must treat their people well and that is a great indication of how they value their customers too. read more
