Online: sold me vacuum bags that don't exist. When I called a few weeks later, they said that they'd call me back. Didn't. Called again today (two days later): the bags don't exist: said they'd refunded me a two days ago (they didn't contact me to let me know this). PayPal doesn't show a refund yet. I believe that if I hadn't called, they would have just kept my money and sent nothing. Don't shop here unless you can go into the store in person. read more

Has to be one of the most bizarre online shopping experiences I've ever gone through. Placed an order for a vacuum we wanted online, as they were one of the few retailers that had it left. Received a call from the store about an hour later telling me they couldn't process the order because my Billing Address and Shipping Address are different. I literally purchase well over $100K/ month in supplies for our business, always with the same Billing Address (our headquarters is in Michigan), and I've never had a Retailer refuse to sell me something. If this was something so irregular or atypical, why would retailers give you the option to put different addresses for Shipping and Billing. The gentleman who gave me a call was absolutely clueless and perplexed by this and accused me of being fraudulent. Sorry my business has multiple locations. I would avoid this company and I will certainly be spreading the word for the type of customer service you can expect when shopping here. I'll give them 3 stars since I have purchased vacuum bags from them when they were at their previous Kennedy location without issue; although today, they were not very helpful. I called to inquire about a vacuum hose for my aging and deteriorating Eureka Pet Lover vacuum. They transferred me to the "parts department" and I spoke to a very kind gentleman who indicated that they don't stock those parts anymore but that if I brought it by, he would look at it and see what he could do for no charge. I thought, well that is really nice of him and I live only a couple of blocks away. So I grabbed my pet vacuum and hopped in the car. I pulled up probably no more than 10 minutes after speaking with the gentleman. When I arrived, an older gentleman (not the one I had spoken to on the phone) stated that Eureka changed ownership and that they do not carry the hose for that vacuum. I told him that I called and the man I spoke with said that he would take a look at the vacuum. He said that 5 people work there and that he is looking at it and simply cannot do anything for me. It was essentially a waste of a trip - the man on the phone seemed to be eager and optimistic, and this guy just gave me a complete dead end, without any option to see or speak with the man I'd spoken to on the phone. I am just glad that I did not have to drive far, since I was back in my car within a few minutes and in the same boat. Buy your parts online, don't waste your time. read more

They carry the Hoover brand which one was once more expensive and a quality durable aluminum vacuum made in Ohio. Remember your mother or grandmother had one? Now priced about $200 and made of plastic in China and typically not repairable if broken. The Miele Vacuum is a high quality German product they sell which is durable and long lasting. Of course, if you don't do your own cleaning, no need to stop here. My wife and I have traded here over the years and very satisfied with products and service. State Vacuum knows their vacuums! A couple years ago my husband and I decided that we were tired of buying inexpensive vacuum cleaners every other year so we decided to invest in a high end vacuum cleaner. After researching several brands we decided on a Dyson model and went to State Vacuum to make our purchase. When we entered the store we told the sales guy that we wanted to purchase a great vacuum cleaner and told him which Dyson model we wanted to buy. His reply back to us? "Do you want to buy a great vacuum cleaner or do you want to buy a Dyson?" At this point I am sold. This guy isn't trying to sell us the most expensive or most popular model on the floor. He really wants to sell us a quality product. The sales guy then proceeds to introduce us to the Miele vacuum cleaner. Like the Dyson, the model had all the bells and whistles that we were looking for, but you could tell the Miele was a much sturdier vacuum. Although my husband preferred the canister model I chose the upright model because I do the majority of the vacuuming in our household. The model is around 10 lbs. so it is easy for me to maneuver the vacuum around the house. The Miele wasn't cheap and came with a $700 price tag, but if we service the vacuum every year we shouldn't ever have to ever buy another vacuum. My mother-in-law has had her Miele vacuum for almost thirty years now! Oh, the Dyson model that we were originally going to buy? My in-laws have the same model at their vacation home in Sarasota. They hate the vacuum. The attachments are always falling off and the vacuum doesn't clean the floors that well anymore even though the vacuum has been regularly serviced and my in-laws only use the vacuum for 4 months out of the year. We also purchased our air purifier from State Vacuum - another purchase that I absolutely love! These might not be the cheapest guys in town, but they are the most honest, knowledgeable and friendly sales guys I know! read more

I have had my Oreck for 30 years and thanks to State Vacuum, I presume for years to come. I do the yearly maintenance and if there is ever an issue, they are quick to repair and return. I live far from any Miele dealer, for instance, 3 hours worth from State Vacuum. I brought the power head from my Miele canister and explained to their repair tech that the drive belt and drive gear were stripped. He replaced the belt and said the gear was fine. I had previously taken the head apart and saw the gear, which is plastic, had been smashed down by the belt slipping and wearing it down. He apparently didn't do the same thing but insisted there was nothing wrong with it. I stupidly deferred to his "vast" experience and left with the head, got home, started it and got the same screeching and...nothing - of course nothing, the drive gear is stripped. I called back and got the tech who told me how great it worked there. He didn't make the effort to take it apart as I did but did expend a lot of effort arguing with me and letting me know he didn't care what I said or how far a drive it was. So summary: long drive + incompetence + lost time + lost money + rude reaction + ignoring being told "exactly" what needed to be fixed yet not bothering to take the thing apart and do it right = me NEVER going back to State Vacuum. read more

It is a quaint shop, full of, what else vacum & a few other items. I have used State for years. They can repair & keep your favorite vacum going for as long as possible. When the day comes, that it is no longer an option to repair, they got you covered. Their inventory is extensive & the sales staff is up to date & quite knowlegeable. I listen to suggestion, statistics & mechanical differences & then I chose my last vacum, with their blessing. I love my new vacum & know I will be happy with it for years to come. I took my well used Miele in because it had a cracked hose as well as several other broken/worn parts. The cost to repair it was almost as much as a new one so I opted to purchase a new vacuum. David showed me several Sebo vacuums, and I decided on the Sebo Automatic X7. It has a variety of attachments, as well as a 10 yr warranty. I used it as soon as I got home. I've had this little bullet for a few years and use it multiple times a day since rechargeable. All the times I've driven past this place, I've never thought to come in. Today I called to see if they can repair my dyson and they said yes, as well as provide free quotes. The repair guy pulled her trigger and knew immediately what it would take to get her running just as the day I bought her. The little love of my life will only cost $49 to fix since it just needs a tune up. Wiping sweat off the forehead ...Whew... I'd hate to have to buy another one since these little suckers don't come cheap. While there I scoped the place out. Not sure why because I came up with a laundry list of items I now want. Last time I was in Tampa visiting family, I wanted to treat my grandmother to a new vacuum because hers was not doing the job anymore. Joe & David could not have been more helpful and honest. ( The other sales person was nice too ). He took his time showing me canister vacuums and answered my questions. I was looking for value and ease of use. Royal brand was the value. Miele was top of the line. I consulted consumer reports and compared their top rated model which was Kenmore. I went to Sears to compare it to the Miele. Big price difference. Hands down the Miele was worth the extra $$$. No regrets.cons of Kenmore; poor quality plastic,has dirty vacuum smell when turned on,does not swivel,does not follow behind you,too LOUD, too heavy, head too big. Miele, Quiet,no smell, foot on and off,retractable cord,quality plastic,hose that isn't made of metal ( you will crush it if you step on it ) swivels,head cleans carpet and floors but you get a separate floor brush,follows behind, easy to use accessories. I took my LG vac to this place a few months ago. They kept it for quite a while and then claimed they had told me to pick it up. In any case, it worked somewhat better when I got it back, but not a lot. I also noticed the filter area was not any cleaner than when I brought it in. Within a few weeks it was as bad as it was to start, and I started looking for a new vac. Then one day, I decided what the heck, I'll take it apart and see what i find. I found that they had obviously never even OPENED it, much less fix anything. The layers of crud in there showed it was never touched, and when I finally found what was clogging the intake I knew for sure, as the object was pretty old. I gave it a good cleaning like they should have, and fixed the problem. They get an F from me, for FAILURE TO DO ANYTHING. read more
