Mr. Sexton didn't keep me informed of my situation, didn't answer proposals from opposing council, didnt return phone calls., billing didn't match the time meeting in the office nor the days, he over billed and the billing reflect what the attorney's actually claim regarding the work they claim they did. Double billed on fax and emails. When i asked Sexton about the billing he quoted "you calling me a liar"? and laughing. I asked James Sexton to draw a motion to the court for my (court ordered) Pende lite support he refused to do so. I was told by Sexton "oh no it was cost too much". But then he kept billing me thousands weekly he said, to read my paperwork. My retainer for 25,000.00 was gone in few weeks. Sexton said it was reading papers getting ready for court after i just hired the firm. I was treated horrible James sexton was using foul language, and i was lied to he makes false promises. Then later says he never said that. Sexton always states, "Just trust Me". I feel it is very important to have good legal representation during your divorce and this is not the person whom you want to hire. Kevin also intimidated me into believing that I had no choice but to leave the marital home with my children and that I had no profit from the sale of the marital home either. He lied to me! As a result, we were forced to vacate which ultimately led to homelessness and tremendous hardship for my children & I. Just so everyone understands, child support and spousal maintenance issues cannot be litigated for 3 years, or under significant circumstances, so it's important to make the right decision from the beginning during your divorce. And regarding spousal maintenance, I should've received 5 years, but Kevin said I was only entitled to 2 1/2 years. The consequences of poor representation can follow you for years. Anyone reading this should do their own research, including researching AI and other resources, before simply believing everything an attorney says. Kevin was unprofessional and stated he's not a trial litigator so he preferred to settle the case. He manipulated me under duress, causing me so much distress into a settlement under false pretenses, and NOTHING in my favor. He did not represent himself professionally in court and intimidated me into settling to avoid going to trial. My advice is simple: don't be afraid of trial. A trial gives you a voice. It allows you to present your evidence, tell your side of the story, and have a judge hear the facts. It isn't nearly as scary as some attorneys make it seem.
