Love Downtown Dallas…read more I really like Downtown Dallas. It's clean, easy to explore, and overall feels safe. What really stood out to me was the Southern hospitality--the people in Texas are incredibly friendly and welcoming. My only real complaint is the parking. I honestly think downtown parking should be free, or at least much more visitor-friendly. Don't make it difficult or expensive for tourists who are coming to spend money and enjoy the city. Make it easier for visitors to have a good experience and explore more of downtown. I hope Dallas doesn't become like Downtown San Diego, which felt surprisingly quiet and empty the last time I visited. A vibrant downtown should make tourists feel welcome and encourage them to stay, explore, eat, and shop. Overall, I really enjoyed Downtown Dallas. Great atmosphere, friendly people, clean streets, and a good sense of safety. Definitely 5 stars from me! I include map of M-line trolley. It's free you can explore the area easily.

My earliest memory of Downtown Dallas was my grandmother taking me with her shopping…read more Back in the day, before malls, flagship stores like Neiman Marcus,Titches etc were all downtown. Dallas still had electric street cars back then so I spent a lot of time looking out the window at the amazing sight of a big citys heart. I watched downtown slowly die over the years, the electric street car cables removed and tracks paved over. Shops and restaurants went out of business. Then one day back in the late 80s I was driving down main street and realized it was a ghost town. Literally trash blowing down the street, broken plate glass windows etc. Then after reaching economic obselesence, the investors, devopers and architects did what they do best here... Built new. Kept building and to this day still renewing this great city. Unbelievable change in only twenty years. I love the new " downtown" Dallas

Fireworks at Lake Carolyn - known as Sparks and Stripes from the City of Irving is their annual 4th…read moreof July celebration for residents of Irving. This year the city hosted a festival with live music and food vendors, but this review will only focus on the fireworks show. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Fireworks, Return) Atmosphere - There are few places as pretty as Lake Carolyn when the sun sets. The lake is very big, and the city allows visitors to sit in any of the public places. We ended up sitting in the lawn area in south corner. While not we weren't as close to the fireworks as other parts around the lake, we had an amazing view of the buildings in the back. 1 Star. Service - The City of Irving had buses shuttling people from the fireworks show to the parking garages at the Toyota Music Factory. The lines were long, so we paid $10 to park in one of the nearby garages. You pay for convenience, but it's hard to get out of parking garage. It is what it is. 1 Star. Fireworks - You have to be a grumpy person to not like fireworks. The show was great, with plenty types of fireworks. There was music piped in through speakers in our area. The finale could have been better, but hey it's a fireworks show. 2 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. This was my first experience with fireworks but not my last. I really loved the spectacular views of the firework above the lake. Best of all, it wasn't extremely crowded and a fun time overall. Well done, Irving! 1 Star.

This tattoo convention was held in Fair Park in the Centennial Hall building. I was very impressed…read morewith the show that was put on the space was absolutely huge with some heavy hitters making there way to the Dallas area. The majority of the most popular tattoo conventions have become a total package of sorts offering so much for a large group of people. This show had a large outdoor stage with bands for all different tastes with new music starting every hour. They also had a large skate ramp with guys & girls performing on the skate ramp. I was in awe of one guy that was in one of the tightest tank tops & skinny jeans that I have ever seen a man squeeze into. I was just wondering how could he do what he was doing and even lift his legs with such tight pants. I guess they must be made of some stretchable material. Now onto the real deal holyfield Oliver Peck was picked for the Musink tattoo convention coming for the 1st time ever to DFW. They brought in some big names like Corey Miller from Six Feet Under & La Ink. Tim Hendricks was there along with Blackheart tattoo shop in San Francisco. I love the fact that you can just walk the show & see great tattoos done & nearly everything is for sale at these conventions. The great flash, t-shirts, artwork and cold beer was sold for a great 3 day show. The show also had a Miss Musink show where the tattooed ladies took a few strolls and showed off their amazing tattoos. I can't wait for the 2nd annual Musink tattoo show and I'm sure they will pick another great venue.
