By time I reached Fort Lauderdale, I had a reply from Jon Laski of Fastrite Glass based in Cletmont, FL. They have a Satellite in Coconut Creek Florida. I believe they service Miami too since their trucks go there all the time to pick up inventory. Location did not matter much to me since they came right to my house. At the BMW dealer, it would have been over $1,500 to replace my 2005 BMW M3 windshield. My final cost was a tiny fraction of that. I can't even say. John knew right off the top of his head that my convertible took a different size glass than the coupe. He knew it took a rain sensor. I was impressed with that. But I was more impressed with his price, his history and the experience level of his technicians. My technician Mike B has 22 years experience. Mike made sure that I had a brand new molding since he didn't trust the old molding. No additional fee was added to my bill. Just add a little heart emoji here. I have all sorts of tiny wires for light sensors in my rearview mirror as well. Mike knew exactly how to handle all this which was like a black art to me. Amazing. My auto dimming sensor still works in my rearview mirror. Jon (one of the owners that was communicating with me) has vast experience as a former vice president of Safelight Auto Glass. He never oversold me at any point. He did assure me that glass is glass and installation is everything. I am going to have to agree with him. My experience with Fastrite Auto Glass has been the best I can remember with a local company in a long time. Lifetime warranty on defects in the glass. I'm pretty sure they're going to guarantee that my rain sensor works properly. I can't get it wet(until the caulking sets up properly) to test it out for another 24 hours. But I have no doubts.

Safelite called immediately, made an appt, and got to my house on time. I have a Macan which meant replacing the windshield and calibrating the camera. They were professional and very sweet. I will tell you that, later in the evening, the rear view mirror fell down. I called and they had someone at my house first thing in the morning. There was a screw that was a bit loose. He fixed it, explained it and showed it to me. It took all of about 8 minutes. They were friendly, professional, and fast. I would highly recommend.

After he left, we loaded the car and noticed the trunk wouldn't lock. We figured glass was stuck in the lock but it was beyond our fixing capabilities.
